Clonidine versus tenex

Common Questions and Answers about Clonidine versus tenex

catapres

585414 tn?1288941302 Right now I am changing from Tenex back to Clonidine because the Tenex wasn't helpful. However, because they are both blood pressure medications (the Catapres application should be familiar to some people) they can't be taken at the same time. Additionally it has to be raised slowly because the Zofran lowers blood pressure as well.
Avatar f tn i have a 5 year old boy that currently has adhd, but for the past three weeks he has become very very defeint some time to the point that he gets aggressive, could he have odd along with his adhd, right now he is on 40mgs per day of vyvanse for adhd. his doc, gave him .1mg of clonidine to help with his aggreesion. does clonidine help with odd??how long does it take to see improvements??
Avatar f tn The most frequent combination is a psychostimulant to treat the ADHD and an antihypertenisive (like Clonidine or Tenex) to addres the oppositional behavior. One thing you might consider is employing Strattera ( a non-stimulant) to treat the ADHD and to divide the Clonidine dose over the day to address the oppositionality. In other words, ask the doctor about giving some at night (he might not actually require .
Avatar n tn Nobody can seem to help to me. This latest Neurologist prescribed 1mg of Tenex, which I have been taking for 2 weeks and do not see any change. Can Tenex help a Tic. Do you have any other suggestions? I am Desperate.
Avatar f tn he just started taking tenex and i dont know how safe it is. hes kinda acting strange, i think! i dont want to give him something that might hurt him. please help me!!!!!
794977 tn?1237256569 Hang in there. Definitely try to get some clonidine or something to help. Your symptoms sound pretty common.. the pounding heart is probably from anxiety. Are you doing this with a doctor? I would find one to help. Maybe a 'walk in' urgent care facility or something - just be honest and ask for help. There is help out there and its better to be safe and honest and upfront. If not - then just hang on tight and try relaxation techniques..
Avatar f tn Today is day 3 (again) for me clean, because I relapsed after being clean for 19 days. Anyway, back to my question. He gave me a script for tenex and said it would help with my blood pressure, sleep and overall mood. I want to see if anyone has ever tried it for this particular drug withdrawl. Is it addicting and will it help me?
Avatar f tn is tenex safe for my 9 year old? This discussion is related to Tenex use for mood stabilization.
Avatar n tn my 4 year old with autism was on risperdal, he had some levels run high so his dr decided to switch him to Tenex...he took his last risperdal 1mg tablet 3 times/day on friday night 11-12-10...he started the tenex 1/2 of a 1mg tablet twice/day saturday morning. since sunday he has been very irritable and aggressive, with very frequent outburst of screaming constantly, hitting himself in the head and bitting, pinching, hitting, kicking, pushing, and scratching himself and others...
Avatar n tn If my ADHD son was on Tenex and now we've taken him off of it because of side effects; but we see mood swings, anger, depression, jealousy, angry words coming back once he was off of it, what would the next medication suggestion possibility be to replace it. He's on Adderall for ADHD but the above came back when he was on nothing, between Tenex and Adderall. He is five which complicates things.
Avatar m tn he sees a lady at the specialty clinic but has really been no help. she put him on tenex but it is a sleeping aid. i have done almost everything to get answers and nothing is comming of this..
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any experience using Tenex/ Guanfacine as treatment for ADHD (not for insomnia or high blood pressure) -- either as monotherapy or as augmentive treatment with other meds -- that they would be willing to share? Thank you.
16638194 tn?1449934941 He started out on Risperdal when he was 4 but we quickly took him off because he quickly ballooned by 15 lbs. in 1 month. We eventually ended up on Abilify and Tenex (Guanfacine) and he's been taking that combination for about 3 years. Now we are at the point where those two meds were not working at all and we were already at the approved dosage limits.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response to my question, I forgot to put in there that the risperdal was the first of a line of medications, every time we see the doctor and I say something new then he trys additional meds like he has my child on clonidine,he tried tenex, atterall, focalin and now the newest one is congentin due to a twitch my child has developed about a month ago when he first started on the tenex.
Avatar f tn My medications are suboxone 2mg four times a day, clonidine 0.1mg everynight at bedtime, zoloft 50mg every morning, tenex 1mg 3 times a day, and valium 10mg as needed for anxiety. Now to me this seems like a lot of medications to take considering I have never took any of them before. He determined I needed all this stuff after a 2 hour pshc evaluation and I am tapering suboxone.all of these meds he says are to help me through the taper and minimize withdrawels the easiest way possible.
Avatar m tn No diarrhea, no appearance of jaundice, generic geodon gave me beige stool before and and tried brand name geodon and side effect went away. Gonna get brand name guanfacine tenex and tenex won't cause biliary system problems.
Avatar n tn My 4 year old son has been taking Tenex for a total of 30 days. He has done pretty good on it for the most part; however, he is just defiant and very emotional. when i ask about why he is emotional he says he doesn't know why. I want to know if this is normal.
Avatar f tn My son who is almost 5, was put on Tenex (Guanfacin) just about 2 weeks ago. It definitly helped his SEVERE hyperactivity, impulsiveness for the last 12ish days, he did have some increased fatigue and would nap some days 2hrs tops (something he hasn't done since he was about 18 months old). Anyway, the past 3 days, it almost feels like the medication has lost it's effect and he is slowly going back to his normal levels of hyperactivity and impulsiveness. Is this possible?
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome. Once you are on suboxone for a long time the best way to quit it is loong and sloow taper.. 4mg is a very large amount to jump from. Those who have had the best successful stories concerning suboxone withdrawal ultimately got down to tiny crumbs or slivers of suboxone before quitting.. Unfortunately long term suboxone users have no way to do this pain free. There will be withdrawal.
Avatar f tn I was at my witts end and finally took him in to the doctor. He was put on Tenex for his ADHD. Go to another doctor and see what they say. We have a different child since he was put on Tenex.
Avatar n tn I am an SLP with a 3yr old on my case load with severe autism and seemingly adhd.. HE has no means of communication other than eye contact, body language, sign "more". He was put on "tenex" to try to slow him down enough to concentrate for learning. HE is involved in an ABA program, DIR and Teacch programs. Tenex seemed to slow him down a little and then 1/2 pill was added to see if it would make a difference.
Avatar n tn A friend of mine who is a clinical pshycologist recommended Tenex. However, in reading the caution section it says not to take if taking medication for allergies, asthma or cough. She takes these types of medication regularly. Would this medication not be appropriate for her. What about all the side effects...lowered blood rate, difficulty breathing? She has difficulty breathing as it is. Please advise.
585414 tn?1288941302 Its important that when people run out of standard mood stabilizers that some of the remaining choices do have potential side effects of concern, especially personality alterations. That's why some of them aren't often used. I've been through every mood stabilizer. Could detail but it would go on for pages. But after the common ones proved intolerable Keppra caused suicidal ideations. Trileptal caused an agitated mixed state.
Avatar f tn I just think about not being alive versus living this hell. I am NOT going to hurt myself. Anyway if anyone knows anything about Trintellex let me know. I am also taking Lamictal and Pamelor. occasional xanax for severe anxiety and shortness of breath. I am no longer taking Geodon and Clonidine. I am still feeling EXTREMELY sad. Especially in the mornings. I have to FORCE myslef out of bed and talk myself into living the day. My family doesnt really understand.
