441267 tn?1211687001 Once 20 years ago, a doc in a hospital in Ca. gave me a great clonidine detox inpatient. I was hooked on methadone and heroin so he gave me clonidine pills and put a patch on me plus gave me some attivan and darvon. It worked great and I was sleeping all the time. He gradually awoke me after about 10 days and after 3 weeks I was off all detox meds. I tried to duplicate this later but it didn't work as well. No other docs do this a this guy was a recovering doc who tried something new.
Avatar f tn Actually the best drug for opiate detox is called Suboxone. You will not feel any withdrawls when you stop taking opiates and it will allow you to detox slowly while you gain your mental & emotional capacity back. The problem is that it is still not completely FDA approved and only certain approved docs can prescribe. You will have to call many of them in your area in order to find a Doc that is not predatory in the way he/she prices his treatment.
Avatar f tn ve done two c/t detoxes and the second one I used clonidine. Even though my opiate usage was double the strength and length than the first detox, my second detox was way easier and I attribute this to the clonidine. I didn't even vomit. I took it quite often and I monitored my BP at home because I naturally have low blood pressure. I took it for 2-3 weeks, I can't remember. I'll take it again when I taper after detox. Chevy is right though- gotta change that addict behaviour.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever used larger doses of immodium for help in opiate detox? I've been doing a lot of reading online and I know you cant believe everything you read so I was looking for andone with personal experience. I have a pretty hefty habbit. I was on a sub program for 2yrs but was let go because I failed a few times for opiates. My husband is still in the program so I could use a few of his subs but I found that the subs do not fully take away all my symptoms.
Avatar m tn 1mg at 10am, 4 pm since i started and trazodone 100mg at night for sleep... anyone have experience with these? ive heard clonidine if you just stop taking it it can spike your blood pressure... and trazodone is addictive? i dunno.... anyway any comments would help.. i was gonna start today by reducing the trazodone in half and tomorrow cut back to just one clonidine a day for 3 more days... sound alright?
401095 tn?1351391770 And i should have stated that better...not really for detox like withdrawals..it is for detox like cleansing of toxins from your body type thing...
5135507 tn?1367163227 I was on the same combo I couldn't even taper due to the w/d being so bad. I had to use suboxone to get off of them. I know there is a lot of different things that will help the w/d more tolerable. The only thing that I know that takes them away is suboxone. If you take suboxone then you have to taper of that its not comfortable but it's tolerable. The w/d are no where near as bad as the fentanyl patch. I was told the fentanyl patches is the 2nd hardest thing to w/d from.
Avatar f tn Beachwalker, I have some very good news for you. I know of drug that is non-addictive and most drugs don't work on me at all and this one not only worked but it blew me away at how effective it was! The name of the drug is called Clonidine and not Kolonopin. It was originally made for high blood pressure, but don't worry, even you don't have high blood pressure, it won't hurt you.
1926359 tn?1331588139 Am on day two of detox though I am still on a tiny amount of opiate-I was too scared to cold turkey as the last time I did I had seizures. This time however I have clonidine-and I am finding it is making it bearable enough to sleep for short periods of time. I also am taking the L-Tyrosine and vitamins from The Thomas Recipe. I would like to drop the rest of the opiates and just get this over with-if the clonidine continues to work this way. will it? Or is this going to get worst?
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn i did not use clonidine but i did use a benzo for detox/valium...course u know to be careful with the ativan..take small pieces if u can during the day to help the anxiety,...no rule u have to take the whole pill as they are not time released....clonidine will also make u sleep///sluggish possibly so play it by ear on how u feel..check ur blood pressure first as it lowers blood pressure and basically slows the metablism down...
797052 tn?1240511394 I don't think starting on methadone was the thing to do, you should NEVER take that drug under any circumstance, I know, I have been addicted to it for over 10 years now. It is my opinion that the withdrawal from roxicodone would have been better than the one from methadone, I hope I'm wrong for your sake. Maybe just being on it for 5 days won't be a big deal, for sure start tapering, I know that. Good luck.
6207615 tn?1380212808 I did not even go into bad w/ds for at least 7 days later. Methadone does not like to let go. For me it was a whole other detox then just off the other opiates..So How many days off of the Dones so far???
Avatar m tn There are a couple meds that reduce it slightly (e.g. clonidine), but there is no way to go through detox without significant misery. Even the 'rapid detox' programs-- where the person is heavily sedated or under anesthesia during detox-- only reduce the withdrawal by cutting off one day of misery. The experience of withdrawal is very lonely; you can help by letting the person know you are there. No pain pills-- but you are there. That can really help.
Avatar m tn so i guess i am forced to detox which is the best thing i can do for myself. i was given clonidine .01mgs from a friend and that is all i have. will this drug be enough to help me endure the withdrawals so that i wont give in? i know its willpower and such but the anxiety literally scares the living hell out of me. im about to take my first pill now...
Avatar f tn august 1st i am booked into a detox facility from opiate abuse and the nurse told me on the phone to make sure i bring a detox kit from the walk in clinic i was wondering what that consists of and what should i say to the doctor seems weird to me but i am willing to do anything i can to get off these meds i currently taking a very large dose of percocett everyday and it is ruining my life and when i put my mind to something i kno i can beat this!!
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
9880688 tn?1414115647 m abusing and I may come holler for support if I start feeling weak at some point. With any luck the Clonidine will do the job and I won't have to do that. If I seem cranky or out of sorts please PM me and let me know. I know the last time I tried I was definitely cranky. I don't want to be that way or take out my crankiness on anyone here...so just PM me and tell me to knock it off and remind me of my motto Positive attracts positive, negative attracts negative!!!
Avatar n tn Do they know about your taper? Clonidine is commonly prescribed for opiate detox. Let me know if you need anything....
Avatar n tn There are non-narcotic perscriptions helpers for many symptoms such as Klonopin for sleep/RLS, Clonidine for sleep/crawling skin, and cold sweats. They may advise an Anti-depressent for a few months. I did it with: First 72 (Day1 to 3) hrs Pedialite popsicles and boost or ensure high protein and OTC anti-nausea medication to keep the fluids down and keep hydrated. You feel so much better after being hydrated. Hot Epson Salt baths help ease the skin crawling and skin burning/freezing and RLS.
Avatar m tn Hello...I've been on 15 10mg vikes for a year now and have decided to go CT starting Friday. I've been through it before, but I wasn't taking as much then. I've got access to a few meds to "hopefully" make things easier and wanted some input on what you all think. I'm new to this sight and it looks very helpful to people suffering from my same situation and would really appreciate your insight from experience.
Avatar m tn I am not a doctor, simply a long-time Rx opiate junkie who has had many opportunities to develop a way to detox. This is a recipe for at-home self-detox from opiates based on my experience as well as that of many other addicts. It is not intended as professional medical advice. It is always wise to make sure none of the recipe ingredients or procedures conflict with medications you may be taking.
Avatar f tn I called pain mngt dr today and they jumped my *** for quitting and told me go to er, then er dr gave me nausea med, clonidine, and more norcos. I took the nausea med and clonidine but 6 hrs later still bad. I gave in and took a Norco, feel 90% better. So what do I do? I cant do rehab, I have 4 kids and would lose my job. My pain mngt dr said they will put me on different meds to detox but those sound bad too, and what about my pain? The pain is what started this hell.
Avatar m tn ohh also a g/f gave me clonidine today for my withdrawls and i wouldnt expect anything wonderful, you will still detox,i am lol peace
