Avatar n tn does clonidine in combination with ultram, help the severe withdrawal from opana?
Avatar f tn Klonidine is a blood pressure med that is used sometimes for opiate withdrawal symptoms.. usually 2mg. per day. Personally, I used it 10 years ago when stopping hydrocodone cold turkey after hip replacement surgery, and I couldn't tell that it helped much. Depending on what your son is using, there may be better options. Can u get an MD involved? He may need to be medically detoxed. My heart goes out to you. I can't imagine the pain of having a child suffer with this. Much love.
Avatar f tn Why did your doctor just stop writing your script rather than tapering you? There are also some other prescriptions, non-narcotic, that can help, like Clonidine, which some people say really works well in easing the withdrawals.
Avatar m tn s been used for withdrawal, as well as for nerve pain control, and some people have found it very helpful. There are worries with it, though, as it does affect blood pressure. There have also been problems with people having rebound hypertension when they come off it, which is why it should be taken under supervision. As for the Cymbalta, I would seriously doubt it would help. It takes time to build up in your system. It's an antidepressant and also used to treat certain types of pain.
439522 tn?1214951189 m tapering down from Oxycontin (done a week ago) and now hydrocodone (down to 4 per day- 5mg). Dr. has me on .1 clonidine to help with the physical withdrawal symptoms as we move down. But, today he prescribed me tramadol...with lots of refills and for long term use. I had never heard of it, and the point was that I decided it was time to move off opiates and try some other non-narcotic pain relievers.
Avatar n tn I am weaning off of suboxone, and into the 12th day. I have severe restless nerve type pain ALL over my body, even fingers, so I've barely slept for all this time, and feel extremely ill and fatigued. I would like to know if I take Ultram for these w/d symptoms, will I then have to go through w/d symptoms when I stop the Ultram - and if so, what are they like? How safe or unsafe from a narcotic standpoint is Ultram? - and is it actually considered a narcotic? I've had a Dr.
Avatar f tn I would just rip that scrip up but you would really be better off to fill the clonidine and take as directed. It is non narcotic and will not get you high.It is a blood pressure med and it will only help you.Since you have only been taking around five vics a day this will get better in about 4 days.
1013208 tn?1256824731 Thank you so much for your help. I only did the HC's a few days after quitting the Sub, but yes, I did feel them...too much actually ;-) You know how we get... My worst fear is that I am facing the sub withdrawals. Here in Austin in the past month alone there have been three suicides because of people needing help with Suboxone detox and not getting any. The doctor up-ed my dosage after careful monitoring of my bp...staying at 96/110...a bit low for my normal 110/?.
610505 tn?1329603723 He agreed and gave me clonidine and xanax for the withdrawal. Out of my fear of the withdrawal I also made an appointment with the Sub Dr. that same day. He prescribed me Sub for six weeks only. So, heres the thing guys... I have been off all pain meds since 3/8/10, and I quite the Sub after only 6 days of being on it. 3/13/10 was my first day off the Sub.
Avatar f tn That might help. I have found that Lyrica (a med for nerve pain, fiber etc is great for this. It is not a narcotic medication. Also, a hot bath helps for a short amountnof time. I can handle the other symptoms of WD but this is the worst! Good Luck!
Avatar n tn everyone is different but i would prepare and ask ur doctor for clonidine like avs said and some non-narcotic aids to help u get off the meds u r on...it definitely will not get any easier to get off as time goes by...
Avatar f tn Are you taking anything for sleep, I used melatonin for awhile and it worked for me. I would imagine your through the worst of wds so be ready to feel like a new person soon, your doing great.
Avatar f tn I went through withdrawal once following a hurricane that shut down our city entirely for two weeks and it was not a pleasant experience. I have clonidine, valium and 4 mg dilaudid I can use to minimize the symptoms, but I am not sure of the proportions to use and how often. It is a weekend so there is no contacting my pain management doctor or pharmacist and I would rather not contact the PM anyway.
Avatar n tn My doctor wont renew my script till the 13th, and Im trying to figure out what im going to do for pain. Im scared to go thru a withdrawal period these next few days, but more so, the pain Im going to occur. Ive tried to supplement using excedrin since it has similar "ingredients" ( acetaminophen and caffeine). This is the first day without taking my prescribed medicine. I dont have a headache, nausea but I do have pain.
Avatar f tn After reading your post it gives me some hope. Thank you and congrats to being 90+days clean. Can you please tell me how you did it. What sort of habit did you have and how did you get off of them? Did you do a taper plan or just go cold turkey? Excuse me for asking so many questions its just that I need as much info as possible. I wasn't strong enough this morning when I woke up, I was throwing up and had gone the whole night in and out of sleep so I took the last two I had.
Avatar f tn i did not use clonidine but i did use a benzo for detox/valium...course u know to be careful with the ativan..take small pieces if u can during the day to help the anxiety,...no rule u have to take the whole pill as they are not time released....clonidine will also make u sleep///sluggish possibly so play it by ear on how u feel..check ur blood pressure first as it lowers blood pressure and basically slows the metablism down...
Avatar f tn The worst of the WD symtoms lasts 4-7 days, although the sleeplessness usually lasts longer. I was on both Clonidine (a blood pressure med that also eases withdrawal) and Phenegran. Phenegran is in the anti-histamine class of drugs & is commonly used to treat nausea. So is Compazine and Vistaril. The anti-nausea effect is very nice, but these meds also make you very sleepy (as does the Clonidine).
228936 tn?1249094248 It was ins. and the bill was high . I'm sure he's the same doc at kiaser. His treatment made the BP go very low which bothered other docs but he knew what he was doing. By itself clonidine wasn't that good for kicking for me but with thoses other meds it was great. Most docs are too worried to be this extreme and just let you suffer, most don't really care.
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!
1162610 tn?1262829016 I've been cutting down on my hydrocodone (Lortab) since my hip replacement 7 weeks ago. I was on that stuff for a LONG time for severe chronic pain though, so I've built up quite a tolerance to it. Although I've cut down, I'm still on it, in lower doses and it's going okay, but today my prescription ran out. I've only had a tiny amount today and that was about 10 hours ago. My hip pain is starting to get to me.
553001 tn?1218811768 I have still have bad mood swings. I am on Clanosopran (for anxiety) paxil, and clonidine (for the shaking), Unfortunately the clonidine is to lower blood pressure but helps with the body shakes and it makes you tired, week and feel completely useless. I have stopped the clonidine. I feel a little better but still tired and week. My daily chores are hard to do. I used to be able to multi-task all the time. Does anyone else have the shakes, where they can't stop shaking their legs?
