Avatar n tn Hi and Welcome! clonidine will help ease the withdrawal but I would be weary of the ultram,,,ultram is also very addictive. how much opana are you coming off of? Are you taking it for pain or recreationally?

"Rapid detox" programs claim to accelerate the process of detox and opioid withdrawal by giving large doses of opioid blocking drugs. Some programs place an addict under general anesthesia during the detox process. These programs have not proven to be more effective than traditional methods of detox, and may be more dangerous.

Avatar f tn just an fyi to you....I don't know what kind of doctor prescribed you clonidine but the usual dose is 0.1 mg three times a day. Are you sure you weren't given klonopin, which is a benzodiazepine, and can be given at 2mg doses? Some people have actually been prescribed 0.3 mg clonidine but never that I have ever known have they been given 2 mgs. That would drop your blood pressure way too much! Just thought I would ask. You are right, though, clonidine is a bp med.....but klonopin is not.
Avatar f tn Why did your doctor just stop writing your script rather than tapering you? There are also some other prescriptions, non-narcotic, that can help, like Clonidine, which some people say really works well in easing the withdrawals.
Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me if cymbalta along with colonidine will help at all with tramadol withdrawal im on my first day of cold turkey and someone handed me these meds and said these would help please let me know as soon as possible im in a dark place right now but i am dam determined to succeed at this effort Thank You.
439522 tn?1214951189 m tapering down from Oxycontin (done a week ago) and now hydrocodone (down to 4 per day- 5mg). Dr. has me on .1 clonidine to help with the physical withdrawal symptoms as we move down. But, today he prescribed me tramadol...with lots of refills and for long term use. I had never heard of it, and the point was that I decided it was time to move off opiates and try some other non-narcotic pain relievers.
Avatar n tn Its difficult to break free from and my withdrawal from it was like no other. But I did it, and so can you. It wont be easy. Stay on this site, keep posting. This site above all other things helped me get through sub wd. I have heard that clonidine will help a lot with the wd. Other people recommend valium-taken only for a short period of time, and with extreme caution.
Avatar f tn I would just rip that scrip up but you would really be better off to fill the clonidine and take as directed. It is non narcotic and will not get you high.It is a blood pressure med and it will only help you.Since you have only been taking around five vics a day this will get better in about 4 days.
1013208 tn?1256824731 s so bad, did I over-ride the Sub addiction, or am I looking at another 20 days of Sub withdrawal. Also, I can eat some but not much and sleep is an hour at a time. I am drinking Ensure now but I am so very, very weak, I am becoming a bit concerned.
610505 tn?1329603723 He agreed and gave me clonidine and xanax for the withdrawal. Out of my fear of the withdrawal I also made an appointment with the Sub Dr. that same day. He prescribed me Sub for six weeks only. So, heres the thing guys... I have been off all pain meds since 3/8/10, and I quite the Sub after only 6 days of being on it. 3/13/10 was my first day off the Sub.
Avatar f tn I can tolerate most of the Withdrawal symptoms that are given to me, but those cold sweats just have to go! Unbearable!
Avatar n tn everyone is different but i would prepare and ask ur doctor for clonidine like avs said and some non-narcotic aids to help u get off the meds u r on...it definitely will not get any easier to get off as time goes by...
Avatar f tn Is this from the withdrawal and has anyone had this problem? If so, is there any suggestions to help calm me down, (besides drugs!
1203675 tn?1285875434 clonidine is the BEST EVER to help with sleep and anxiety, and WILL NOT BOTHER PREGNANT WOMAN! ... and something else that helped me with those hot/cold sweaty nasty wet feeling, Ultram, just a simple non-narcotic the ER gives.
1646102 tn?1301175214 You are now in a good position to start buprenorphine, after going through several days of withdrawal; it would relieve your withdrawal within an hour, and you would typically stay on it until after delivery—and then decide whether to stop it or continue it. Studies clearly show very high relapse for those stopping after less than a year; I believe people taking it as long as is right for their personal situation.
Avatar f tn I went through withdrawal once following a hurricane that shut down our city entirely for two weeks and it was not a pleasant experience. I have clonidine, valium and 4 mg dilaudid I can use to minimize the symptoms, but I am not sure of the proportions to use and how often. It is a weekend so there is no contacting my pain management doctor or pharmacist and I would rather not contact the PM anyway.
Avatar n tn Doesnt matter that the excedrin has the caffeine and acetaminophen. It needs the narcotic (dihydrocodeine) or equivalent to keep you from getting sick. I would try 800mg ibuprophen and...alternate heat and cold for the pain. Good luck to you also.......
Avatar f tn I did go see a doctor when I went cold turkey who gave me clonazepam and clonidine to help ease the withdrawal but all they did was make me sleep. The first week of my withdrawal was the worst at least what I remember of it. The second week I ended up in the hospital due to such lack of energy. It turned out the meds the doc had given me were interacting with other meds I was on due to my disorder and were causing my heart to beat extremely low.
228936 tn?1249094248 He was a respected doc in substance abuse and detox and had some new ideas. I had clonidine patches put on me and was given clonidine pills about 3 times a day. I was also given attivan about 4 times a day and 2 davon 65 pl. 4 times a day. At night I was given chloralhydrate to sleep. I slept about 8 hours a day and 8 hours a night for the first 10 days and the gardualy less and less.
Avatar f tn The worst of the WD symtoms lasts 4-7 days, although the sleeplessness usually lasts longer. I was on both Clonidine (a blood pressure med that also eases withdrawal) and Phenegran. Phenegran is in the anti-histamine class of drugs & is commonly used to treat nausea. So is Compazine and Vistaril. The anti-nausea effect is very nice, but these meds also make you very sleepy (as does the Clonidine).
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn lyrica can have a sedating effect..so can clonidine and it slows down stuff and helps the runs too//i would still get some immodium tho and push fluids Ambien is a bit controversial and can be abused...not physically addictive per say but anything we use for sleep can be mentally addictive//even benadryl or nyquil..
1162610 tn?1262829016 The Tramadol is to help with the pain associated with the withdrawal because I'm trying to cut down/out the hydrocodone. The Clonidine is to help with the cravings and it does help! It knocks me out though and all I wanna do is sleep. Weird. That stuff is supposed to be a high blood pressure medicine. How do people take it and stay awake when they need it for blood pressure I wonder!
553001 tn?1218811768 00 pm and I still was fine. And the best part of all was I wasn't craving a Percocet like I normally do. I just was shocked. Since it is a nerve pill, I was afraid I would be sleepy or dizzy but I didn't have those symptoms either. I just felt normal. And I have heard that it is non addictive (I just happened to have a bottle of them from a nerve headache 6 months ago, that was lucky that I still had the pills).
