The dental issues persisted, and I had a CT scan on September 7. It revealed an acute right maxillary sinus infection. This was partly the reason for the Clindamycin.
I saw an ENT this week to evaluate the sinuses, and he took another CT. He said that the right maxillary sinus had cleared up and what appears there in the CT is actually a cyst.
But he said one of the left sinuses is now infected. He didn't name it, but it appears to be the sphenoid sinus.
Doctor prescribed Prednisone,Zithromax, Acyclovir [for cold sores] and Clindamycin cap 300 mg for sinus infection. Just lately I got acid reflux.... hard to swallow... even when I did it was bad... slight burning to severe burning feeling on the left hand side of my mid upper chest area. I went back again to see the doctor who told me the coughing, wheezing [which now both had stopped... nearly completely] from the sinus infection is proobably the causes of it. He now prescribed AdipHex....
Is an excruciating headache a sign of a reaction to clindamycin? I can't take it anymore, and my CT scan came back clean. I'm on the antibiotic as a preventative measure after sinus surgery (I'm about a week out). There's no infection, and all the drainage, etc. is normal.
I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill.
My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections????

I have noticed that the sit of my nose where my deviated septum had been seems to still be significantly inflamed and that the generalized area around where the maxillary sinus would be hurts as well. Perhaps the most annoying, is the fact that my upper left molars kill. is this likely just residual inflammation from the surgery itself? i do know there was a good amount of infection in the left maxillary prior to my surgery, so wondering if this is just aggravated by the surgery.
I was prescribed Vicodin and Clindamycin. I forgot to take the Climdamycin for the first two days, but picked it up immediately on day three. By the end of day three I found myself in EXCRUCIATING pain that 2 Vicodins couldn't ease and my face was still very swollen even after taking Clindamycin. I was so sick to my stomach due to the Clindamycin that I called my doctor to ask for something else less upsetting on day four. He prescribed Keflex instead.
a sinus tact is like a "tunnel" through the bone and through or around the gum tissue from the abcess to the outside (in the mouth somewhere like the palate for upper teeth or the soft tissue vestibule by the roots of the teeth). it's basically a tract through which the abcess can drain. teeth with tracts usually have been abcessed for quite some time.
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
I was sent to the ENT where they found infection and a Retention Cyst. He put me on Clindamycin 300mg four times a day, Flonase, and a decongestant to see if my symptoms would improve. They did not, so he recommended surgery. After the surgery, and a few weeks later, I could breath better then I could my whole life. After the surgery the dizziness was gone. Most ENTs will not worry about the cysts, but if you are symptomatic, then you will probably need it removed.
Seeing an oral surgeon to eliminate the source of infection is advised. Although clindamycin is narrow spectrum antibiotics, it is highly effctive for bone infection.
Hey there bbj, good to hear from you and especially that you achieved SVR! Sorry about the viruses though. I don't think it's a good idea to take any antibiotics unless you are certain you have a bacterial infection. They won't touch a viral infection and they can cause their own problems. If you might have influenza you should contact your doctor right away to ask for Tamiflu. It can lessen the severity and longevity of influenzas if taken early in the infection.
05%(base), i also just started using Fougera Clindamycin Phosphate gel USP, 1%(equivalent to 1% clindamycin. i have been using the first one for past three month twice a day and it is almost having no affect. the area is increasing and i m afraid it will get bigger and it is. what should i do? any recommendations on what i should use to get rid of it? can you recommend any medicine/cream??

I was prescribed a ten day course of clindamycin for a gum infection, which it took care of. Six weeks later I developed severe diarrhea with terrible gut pain and fever. Had blood and mucous in stools an perhaps some intestinal lining. I lost 10 lbs and was very weak and the thought of food made me feel sick.. Emergency room diagnosed clostridium difficile after stool samples and CAT scan. I was put on a 14 day, 4x/day course of oral solution vancomycin which solved the problem.
I've taken Clindamycin and fluconazole to kill a yeast infection. But now my doctor tells me I might possibly get it back because antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I'm not even sure...
ll put you on antibiotics (which you already have taken) and generally this clears up the sinus infection. Yes, a sinus infection can feel like a toothache and vice versa, a toothache can feel like a sinus infection. Due to the timing of your toothache and root canal, I am leaning towards there being a problem with the root canal than a sinus infection. It never hurts to seek another endodontist's opinion on the matter.

I have a root infection lower left tooth, was put on clindamycin 150 mg every six hours and told to take Advil for inflammation. The tooth is still very painful, have been on it for 3 days and they scheduled me for a root canal in 3 1/2 weeks time. Is this normal?

I was diagnosed with a bladder infection and a vaginal infection. I assume its bacterial vaginosis because my doctor prescribed Bactrim and Metrogel. But because I have Raynaud's Syndrome, I can't use Metrogel. So my doctor has now prescribed Cipro. But how would either one help with the vaginosis? And as for the bladder infection, couldn't I just take one because they both treat UTIs?
I just finished a course of clindamycin for a tooth infection, and as FTB4 said, it does not interact with levo. Listen to his advice about the probiotic and/or yogurt. Clindamycin messed up my gut worse than any antibiotic I've ever taken (which isn't many).
Also, is your sore throat and runny nose due to a bacterial infection? If it's due to a cold or the flu, both viruses, no antibiotic will help it. Antibiotics kill bacteria, not viruses.
Topical Terbinafine cream did not help doctor is treating with Ketoconazole 2% shampoo and topical Clindamycin 1%. I may be noticing a 10% increase in my normal gray follicles at two weeks treatment. I would love to send a picture.
t know for sure. I believe the virus could have caused a sinus infection that then went into my root. Could I be stuck with this taste/smell problem forever? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Lately I've been wearing nose plugs just to be able to eat bread and some other foods. Even things like toothpaste, shampoo and soap smell really bad or just different.
I have a broken tooth on the bottom molar. went to the dentist and he said the infection had gone into my tissue. He put me on Clindamycin on wed.. the lump is still there and the pain had subsided until today. The pain is now really bad. How long does it take for the antibotics to work? have an appt. to have tooth pulled out on the 14th. How long should I give the lump to go down before going to ER for Iv antibiotics?
