Avatar f tn Your tests appear to have been for Group B Strep only, which theoretically can be sexually-transmitted. However, it is also naturally-occurring and generally nothing to be alarmed about: https://www.cdc.gov/groupbstrep/index.html In order for this to be plausibly related to sex, you would have had to have unprotected vaginal sex with a woman.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies I'm a ftm & my online results for my group b strep test just came back ... It was positive , what does this mean ?
Avatar f tn This is my second pregnancy, with my first one everything was fine but with this one I tested positive for the group b strep! I am very worried and can't stop thinking about it. I researched it and wants mortified with what I found out about it. I am terrified! Has anyone else dealt with this?
Avatar f tn Probiotics can be helpful for preventing group b Strep. They help build up the good bacteria that you should have in your gut so the bad bacteria, like gbs, can't survive. There's also a certain kind of vaginal flush they can do during labor instead of antibiotics. Try researching some different natural options if you want something that will at least back up the antibiotics.
7249862 tn?1392252689 Kati you have absolutely nothing to worry about. I had B strep with both My children. Just make sure you go to the doctor when labor begins. it's a good idea not to do the beginning part of labor at home because the baby might come sooner than you think and you want to make sure you get enough antibiotics before the baby is born.
3062924 tn?1350414109 I have 2 boys and I also was a carrier for group b strep, not a big deal, while your in labour they'll hook pen g into your IV so it will have no affect on your baby :)
666089 tn?1260520261 I have had 3 babies and tested positive for group B strep with one of them, my Dr too told me that it really is'nt a big deal atleast not until you deliver. group B strep is a normal bacteria in teh vagina and happens off and on to a lot of women and they never know about it. from what i understand from my doctor while pregnant the baby is protected from group B strep, but during the delivery the bacteria can get in the baby's mouth and cause an infection which is bad for the baby.

Avatar n tn Has any moms on here tested positive for group B strep im on my second pregnancy and just found out i tested positive my first pregnancy i did not im really worried for my baby has any one deliverd a healthy baby im so worried reading all the complications
Avatar f tn Every woman has group B Strep (it's part of the natural microflora that inhabits your vagina), but they are actually testing for levels of the bacteria. When you test positive, it means you have a higher than optimal bacteria count. It's not a problem at all when treated with antibiotics, which will bring the count to a normal level. It typically doesn't even cause problems when untreated, but it can. It's more of a precaution than anything.
2132141 tn?1335678074 First, be sure you know that what you are assuming is correct. You having Group B strep does not mean you got it from your fiance, Group B can exist in both men's and women's digestive tracts and intestines, and sometimes it pops up and other times it does not. You could have had it for a long time, and also, you could give it to her and not the other way around. She should get tested for it.
Avatar f tn They would be testing to see if you have group b strep. If you have it they will give you antibiotics. It can pass to the baby during labour and can be fatal for baby if baby gets it.
Avatar f tn I had it too and yes you can still have the epidural. Group strep b isn't a bad thing at all for adults, it's just not good for baby, that's why we need the antibiotics.
2006603 tn?1331329327 I am 37 weeks and last thursday i was tested for the group b strep and they said it would take about a week to get the results back, i have another doc appt this thursday and im assuming they will tell me the results then but i have a few questions that i forgot to ask my doc. I was just wondering if group b strep is something that you just get when pregnant sometimes? How do you get it? Is it like a STD? Any info would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I just received my Group B Strep test results and it says DETECTED!!! I have have had 3 healthy pregnancies and never had a problem with Group B. What do I do? What should I expect?
Avatar f tn m getting tested for this and checked. When they swab never for the group b strep do they use thething they use when they give you a papsmear?
Avatar f tn The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended routine screening for vaginal strep B for all pregnant women. This screening is performed between the 35th and 37th week of pregnancy (studies show that testing done within 5 weeks of delivery is the most accurate at predicting the GBS status at time of birth.) http://*****************.org/pregnancycomplications/groupbstrepinfection.
Avatar f tn Taking antibiotics greatly decreases the chances of your baby developing early onset group B strep infection.
Avatar f tn m positive for group B strep and they will have to give me antibiotics during labor..has anyone else been positive for this?
Avatar f tn Has anyone tested positive for Group B Strep (GBS) with a previous pregnancy? What was the outcome for baby? Has anyone been diagnosed with GBS this pregnancy? What is your plan to protect baby? Thanks for any input!
Avatar f tn So I found out today that I tested positive for Group B Strep and will need antibiotics during delivery. I'm kind of bummed. I'm a ftm and I'm wondering if anyone else has had any issues with group b strep and if their babies were ok after the birth?
