I have googled Clindamycin and found that there is a link between torsades and Clindamycin. Is this drug in the same family as Erythromycin? Should I be safe and stop taking it. I have been taking it for 4 days and have 1 day left. My infection, which wasn't very bad to start with, is now gone. I have been having an increase of bradycardia and PVCs and I am a bit concerned. I don't have an ICD.

However, if you do need antibiotics after extraction, amoxicillin and metronidazole, erythromycin( erythromycin, azithromycin, clarithromycin) and metronidazole are commonly prescribed for periodontal infection. You may address your condern to your dentist.
I and my husband received IV continous infusion Clindamycin treatment times 7 days and the followup testing showed we were both positive with clamydia. I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise.

I have been prescribed Clindamycin to clear up a possible tooth infection. I was wondering if anyone has had any heart rhythm problems attributed to antibiotics. I have pvcs/pacs, all tests, ekg, echo has come back completely normal. Im just worried about taking a new medication,, afraid it may cause the palpitations to be worse, better yet cause a dangerous arrythmia!! Any advice would be great!!
Go back to the dentist asap, it could be a dry socket!!!!! Antibiotics are great but they won't help with a dry socket. A dry socket is simply when a tooth is pulled a blood clot forms, if the clot falls out too soon a dry socket can occur and then the site becomes extremely painful! Hope this helps.
If it's a dry socket, they will usually pack the site with Eugenol, a clove based medication.
If infection persists after 3-5 days of amoxicillin administration, switching to other antibiotics , such as clindamycin or erythromycin is advised.

In the mean time, if augmentin and clindamycin are not effective, I would try erythromycin family drug, such as azithromycin or clarithromycin , paired with metronidazole(flagyl). If itis possible, antibiotic sensitivity test can be done in the lab to determine which antibiotic is most effective for the cultured bacteria. Hope this helps.

I went to my GP who then prescribed me clindamycin on top of the erythromycin and codeine for pain. When I was only taking erythromycin, my stomach was hardly upset, if at all. Now that I'm taking the clindamycin, my stomach is killing me. There's no diarrhea as of yet, but the amount of stomach cramping I have is insane. It's not abdominal pain, but stomach pain, just below my chest.

Dear sir/madam,
I am writing this letter to get advice and help regarding my scalp folliculitis. I’ve had this condition for the past 6 years. I’ve tried different treatments including antibiotics like Amoxicillin, erythromycin, minocycline, tetracycline, doxicycline, & ciprofloxacin each course taken for at least 6 months to 1 year. I have also tried topical treatment like Fucidin, Mupirocin, clindamycin and gentamicin.
