Seeing an oral surgeon to eliminate the source of infection is advised. Although clindamycin is narrow spectrum antibiotics, it is highly effctive for bone infection.
I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill.
My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections????

I have a 15 year old mostly outdoor cat, who is very territorial and obviously got into a cat fight, not sure when though. I noticed two puncture wounds under his right ear, and we have a topical herbal medication that I applied to it- called Black Claw, it help it dry up more but he kept scratching at it and opening it up. I tried salt water compressess and he wasn't too pleased with those, but it helped clean it up a bit.
Now my whole side of my head is killing me. I can taste infection coming out every now and then. My cheek is the size of a golf ball. My ear, lymph note is killing me as well. My jaw won't open all the way either. My gums and teeth around the extraction area are hurting as well. What should I do??? I'm taking Clindamycin 300mg 4 times a day.
So now im on keflex, zithromax, albuterol, zofran, tums, cough drops, robitussin dm, and got a shot of rocefin in the arse. How does an ear infection turn into pneumonia? ??? I didn't even know that was possible! And my doc says taking all these meds is safe but that seems like an awful lot to me.
I had that one pulled and still have the same amount of pain or more; even went to the ER thinking it might be a ear infection which it isn’t. No dry socket either. Is it a jaw bone infection? After I had the tooth pulled I was put on clindamycin. I went back to the oral surgeon because the pain is so bad and he said it is healing nicely and gave me Percocet and said to give it a couple more days. Hi I went in to the dentist a couple days ago to get a broken molar extracted. (I had a root canal done on it years ago and it has now got infected) It was extremely painful and tender to the touch but I had no visible swelling. Dentist sent me home with Vicodin & clindamycin to kill the infection before she could extract it in a few days. I know clindamycin is a top tier antibiotic. But I took it and the infection swelled and got more painful.
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
My daughter had a sore on the outside of her ear, was looked at for 2 min. in urgent care and prescribed clindamycin e150 mg pills....3 pills 3x per day (12 pills) she is 15 and 119 lbs. Was not diagnosed with ANYTHING. Now we have had a utility, yeast infection, her iron level is at 30, she has passed out over 5 times, cannot sleep has lost weight, major stomach pain etc. urgent care has said it was right meds and right dose. NO WAY!
My dentist uncovered the implant and did a bone graft over the top of the implant where the infection had eaten the bone away. He soaked it in clindamycin and I took clindamycin orally afterwards.

05%(base), i also just started using Fougera Clindamycin Phosphate gel USP, 1%(equivalent to 1% clindamycin. i have been using the first one for past three month twice a day and it is almost having no affect. the area is increasing and i m afraid it will get bigger and it is. what should i do? any recommendations on what i should use to get rid of it? can you recommend any medicine/cream??

I was prescribed a ten day course of clindamycin for a gum infection, which it took care of. Six weeks later I developed severe diarrhea with terrible gut pain and fever. Had blood and mucous in stools an perhaps some intestinal lining. I lost 10 lbs and was very weak and the thought of food made me feel sick.. Emergency room diagnosed clostridium difficile after stool samples and CAT scan. I was put on a 14 day, 4x/day course of oral solution vancomycin which solved the problem.
I've taken Clindamycin and fluconazole to kill a yeast infection. But now my doctor tells me I might possibly get it back because antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I'm not even sure...
) On the other hand, would I endanger my health by taking the Clindamycin after so many other recent antibiotic courses (including 16 days of Clindamycin in September)?
aureus infection is penicillin. The infection could sometimes be MRSA, Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus infection is treated by draining the sore and bactrim. Did you ensure to take the medication regularly? Have you completed the course of the medication prescribed? As unfinished doses can further lead to resistance. But your present symptoms of persistent swelling indicate that you are not responding to bactrim and that the infection is spreading.
I have a root infection lower left tooth, was put on clindamycin 150 mg every six hours and told to take Advil for inflammation. The tooth is still very painful, have been on it for 3 days and they scheduled me for a root canal in 3 1/2 weeks time. Is this normal?
