Firstly, has he been cultured for strep throat and/or had a rapid strep test done? Secondly, steroids are good for getting inflammation down but they cause you get very immunocompromised. Are these oral steroids and were they actually perscribed by a doctor. I would stop the steroids. He could also have a resistant strain of Strep. so they may need to do a antibiotic sensitivity panel if the culutre is still positive. Lastly, it may virus that he got after the initial infection.
old son has had (what 3 doctors) have diagnosed as Erythema Nodosum, but without the change in color (no redness -- rarely a faint pink on the thigh nodules) for the past two years. Three positive strep throat cultures from 1/2006 to 2/2007. No positive strep test since 2/2007. His ASO titer has been between 800 and 1010 range for the last 2 years (last week's 1000).
I am a 21 year old male. I have been diagnosed with strep throat two weeks ago after rapid test. Symptoms were mild no fever and I had mostly stomach problems rather then throat but a huge swollen node under my jaw which hasn't gone away. For the past two months, I get a feeling of a lump in my throat that comes and goes. It first appeared after taking antibiotics for a strep throat. It felt like there was a golf ball in my throat for 3 days. Then it went away. But every few days it would come back. Now it seems to come and go. It could be really bad for a few hours then it might not bother me for a day or two. It seems like if I take my mind off it by something distracting, it completely disappears.
Hello grace. I went to doc about sores and redness in throat and he swabbed for strep and it came back negative. I asked him if it couldbe my first hsv1 peal outbreak. And he said since i have had them for two to three weeks it would have been gone by now if it was an outbreak. He believes that even with the seven days of azithromycin it wasnt enough to fully take my virus away and i still have the issues with the throat.
I was prescribed a ten day course of clindamycin for a gum infection, which it took care of. Six weeks later I developed severe diarrhea with terrible gut pain and fever. Had blood and mucous in stools an perhaps some intestinal lining. I lost 10 lbs and was very weak and the thought of food made me feel sick.. Emergency room diagnosed clostridium difficile after stool samples and CAT scan. I was put on a 14 day, 4x/day course of oral solution vancomycin which solved the problem.
Between strep antibiotics and for this I’ve been on azithromycin for 5 days, cephalexin for 10 days, clindamycin for 10 days, doxy for 7 days, just started cipro for 10 days. I’ve been on so many antibiotics and if it was bacterial wouldn’t the the utheral tube also be red and the other side of the opening ?

Due to me rubbing and scratching I noticed two long paper cut like sores near the hood of my clitoris, once I put some cream on them they went away after two days. After I was done with the penicillin my strep throat was cured, I took the meds for my yeast infection which was nine days after I was diagnosed with it, about a week later I was diagnosed with bv by a dr. After have discharge and a fishy odor down there, I was also test for some stds but not herpes.
I went to urgent care today and the test came back negative for strep again, the doctor said my throat looks normal and that it could be post nasal drip. He didn't say I have tonsillitis. I haven't had a runny nose but he said that pnd could still be the cause. He gave me lidocaine to swallow for pain and cough supressant, which I don't know the reason for. One thing I forgot to mention is that typically at night I get a very low fever of around 99.
since that day, i sweared that i will not prescribe clindamycin(or at least with 4timed daily dosing!!!!
Now 6 and 1/2 weeks post exposure I still have this weak pain while urinating and still sore throat for like now 3-4 weeks. I tested for HIV yesterday and it was negative. Please give me some reasonable advice and I don't want to destroy my liver and kindeys with any more useless antibiotics. Thank you.
m not sure if the spots on the back of my throat are attributed to mild acid reflux, stress, antibiotics (I was taking Clindamycin vaginally for BV during the week i slept with the guy), or oral gonorrhea, or ARS.
Our 9 year old had strep throat twice in Jan/Feb. of this year. Our pediatrician had her bloodwork drawn on Jan. 14 as our daughter also had some unexplained lightheadedness and the Dr. wanted to check CBC, CMP, ESR and thyroid. Upon receiving the bloodwork back, all looked normal except for her TSH which was 6.60 (FT4 was 0.73). We did not go back to do the more indepth thyroid test until Feb. 24 and the results were: TPAb - negative, TP AB In - 76.
Thank you Mistakeguy789. So I went the doctor, he looked down my throat, said it looked like strep, took a swab (results should be ready early next week), and prescribed Clindamycin. I am encouraged by the fact that after only three doses of this antibiotic, all of my symptoms (chills, headache, bodyache, lack of appetite) are gone and only the sore throat remains.
t respond to the drugs that they usually give you for strep throat. So it is possible that you could have it. That is my professional opinion as a clinical microbiologist The only other thing is are your lymph nodes swollen? Could these be what you feel when you swallow? You may have had the original strep throat and then your lymph nodes swelled and that is hat you feel? That with some residual pain from the sore throat? I don't know how bad your throat feels.
I was administered a strep test which came back negative but the pain increased, I could not swallow anything, I had ear aches, and began to run a fever. I went to the ER within 4 days once the pain was intolerable. The DR. Prescribed me augmentin and the pain subsided until the meds were gone. Four days later on Thanksgiving all of the symptoms returned. I went to the ER again to get a different diagnosis or pharyngitis. I was prescribed clindamycin and prednisone.
I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill.
My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections????

I also had pain in my abdomen. I went to the er three days later and got a rapid test done and it was positive for strep throat. I was put on z pack for 6 days. The initial symptoms of chills and mild fever and green stool went away within two days. But I still continued to feel ill like fatigued. And my swollen node was still swollen. I went back to the er after finishing the zpack and they put me on 600 mg a day of clyndamycin. I felt really good the first day on it like i was better.
