Firstly, has he been cultured for strep throat and/or had a rapid strep test done? Secondly, steroids are good for getting inflammation down but they cause you get very immunocompromised. Are these oral steroids and were they actually perscribed by a doctor. I would stop the steroids. He could also have a resistant strain of Strep. so they may need to do a antibiotic sensitivity panel if the culutre is still positive. Lastly, it may virus that he got after the initial infection.
t think it was oral thrush even though I could scrape the white stuff off. He gave me a benydrill and told me to stop taking clindamycin and took me off antibiotics then sent me on my way. I've been using mouth wash and now my whole tongue isn't burning but the bottom feels sore and the middle feels cut. And my throat feels sore as well as the swollen node under my jaw still being there. I don't know what it could be. This is two days after the ER visit.

The initial symptoms of chills and mild fever and green stool went away within two days. But I still continued to feel ill like fatigued. And my swollen node was still swollen. I went back to the er after finishing the zpack and they put me on 600 mg a day of clyndamycin. I felt really good the first day on it like i was better.
My eight year old is allergic to amoxicillin, zithromax, clindamycin, and cefzil. We have seen an allergist, and he said there are no tests for antibiotics and that "we have a problem." Can someone please guide me in what to do next? My doctor was hoping the allergist would help guide us for future treatments. I am fearful for any infection like strep throat, ear or skin infections, we have run out of options.
old son has had (what 3 doctors) have diagnosed as Erythema Nodosum, but without the change in color (no redness -- rarely a faint pink on the thigh nodules) for the past two years. Hello grace. I went to doc about sores and redness in throat and he swabbed for strep and it came back negative. I asked him if it couldbe my first hsv1 peal outbreak. And he said since i have had them for two to three weeks it would have been gone by now if it was an outbreak. He believes that even with the seven days of azithromycin it wasnt enough to fully take my virus away and i still have the issues with the throat.

He put me on different multiple month long trails of clindamycin, bactrim ,Levofloxacin, doxycycline, and and all of them did the same thing, while on them the symptoms go away but as SOON as i finish the dosage the symptoms come right back. He even did test on me where he put me to sleep and looked in my penis with a tiny camera. as well as sent me to a lab where they tested to see if their was a blockage to see if something was blocking my pee passageway. nothing.
Alternatively, you can take clindamycin for the bv and drink a boat load of cranberry juice for the UTI and water of course. It will take longer to clear up the UTI but it should work. It did for me in a pinch. It just took a couple of extra days. Of course if you are diabetic you can't.
About two days later I noticed I came down with a slight sore throat and the next day it was really bad, so that early friday morning I went to the Er because I noticed my tonsils were really swollen with pus spots on them, the doctor diagnosed me with strep throat and gave me 2 penicillin pills that night, I took four the next day that sunday I started to have really bad pelvic pain.
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.

So I went the doctor, he looked down my throat, said it looked like strep, took a swab (results should be ready early next week), and prescribed Clindamycin. I am encouraged by the fact that after only three doses of this antibiotic, all of my symptoms (chills, headache, bodyache, lack of appetite) are gone and only the sore throat remains. This would lead me to believe that the infection is in fact bacterial, as the antibiotic would not have worked on a virus such as HSV.
I had a new sex partner and a few weeks noticed a funny itch and discharge. I went to the doctor and all my test came back negative for STD's.However the doctor said i had strep or bacteria in my urine, so I was prescribed 500 mg of penicillin one tablet 3 times a day.T his was 6/23/12. This didnt help so I went back to the doctor in July and was positive for urinary tract infection and 8/12/2012 was then given 500 mg of metronidazole one tablet twice a day for seven days.
I then asked to do a strep swab, but gp said a rapid swab was not available and it would take a few days to get results, so I was given cefuroxime and clindamycin for a week.
At the end of the week it did seem like they were getting better, but the white spots were still present and they were still enlarged.
It is now 5 days taking benadryl and the hives and itching have not stopped. What is in the clindamycin that I may be allergic to?
