Clicking knee cap no pain

Common Questions and Answers about Clicking knee cap no pain

knee

Avatar n tn It also showed some arthritis under the knee cap. The surgery included a scraping and shaping under the knee cap. After surgery there was still sensitivity on the medial side of knee. Surgeon said it was because of the way the knee was held open during surgery and it would fade. It did for a time and now it is back. If I move my left leg from left to right and have some resistance against the foot there will be a sharp pain in the medial meniscus.
Avatar n tn The injury feels like I overstretched something, similar to a pulled muscle. From the squat position it is at the top of the knee, above the cap and painful to any pressure. It has evolved into a dull pain behind the cap and located at the top. I work a desk job and the worst part is keeping the knee in the sitting position. It is really difficult to stand up and straighten it out.
Avatar m tn have a knot on knee cap when to doc. 1974 said it was like munchhousen something and not the one for women doc.
Avatar f tn My knee is stiff and painful today underneath the knee cap where the pes anserine tendon inserts and to the inside of the knee cap (medially). I also have pain in the middle of the back of the knee, is especially sharp if I push into it. In terms of comfort and daily activities, I am having no trouble walking except that my knee will get a little swollen (very slight) and stiff if I walk a lot.
Avatar f tn I have minimal swelling above the knee cap but no redness, warmth or presence of a fever. The pain is worse when I am sitting, climbing or coming down stairs, and extending the knee from 90 to 180 degrees. I have major weakness in the joint when standing (almost feels like it's going to "give out" if that makes sense). In the past 3 weeks it has started "popping" when I attempt to extend it. It cracks and makes funny grinding noises.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Physical exam of the knee is a big part of diagnosis, so unfortunately I won't be able to give you a definitive answer as to what is going on. From what you tell me though, I certainly think that further testing is warranted, since your pain seems to be relatively severe. It is possible that you are having a flare of arthritis, but it could also be something like a meniscal tear.
Avatar m tn Hello! I'm an almost 57yo active male and just recently a small (silver dollar size) lump or protrusion, bony in appearance, has developed along the outside of my right leg located approximately 1" to 1-1/2" below the midline of my kneecap. In addition, I began to experience some "popping or clicking" sounds in this knee starting in my early 30's which have come and gone over the years without any noticeable pain or swelling.
Avatar n tn This essentially means a softening of the cartilage of the knee cap. The anatomical sources of pain in this area is now considered to be from the richly innervated subchondral bone (bone below the articular cartilage), infrapatellar fat pad, or the medial and lateral retinaculum of the joint. “...certain mechanical conditions may predispose you to a mistracking knee cap. ” Cartilage does not have the same blood supply that bone does.
Avatar m tn Sorry for the detail, but maybe it will help you understand in answering the question as to what area of the knee may be injured, or if not injured, then what is going on? : I was in an accident which caused my knee to grind, and become painful as I went up and downsteps, in which I could have tolerated if knew how much worse I would feel after physical therapy.
Avatar f tn I have no pain in my knee though
Avatar m tn Is the pain under your knee cap or tendon? From what you are saying it sounds like your saying under your knee cap. You could have patellofemoral syndrome; very common for cyclists (read your bio). Try this website. http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/sma/sma_patellod_sma.

Avatar f tn I was told that I have patella feminel pain, I am use to having trouble kneeling and walking after a shift at work and and my knee being weak and the knee cap moving around, but lately even when I am not doing anything it feels as though something is push up on my knee cap, and extremely painful and I cant get the pain to go away. At time it feels as though something is being wedged under my knee cap.
Avatar m tn My Daughter 13y/o, weight 45kg, has right knee pain isolated to the lower outside area of the knee. This pain is preventing the use of the knee and is sever when the knee is bent. She has limited movement with out pain. Currently we are into the 9th week of pain. Other symptoms are numbness of the knee area, Limited swelling (not much) and currently in the last week she has started to get sharp stadding pain, ocassionally the knee gives way.. The injury happened during a jazz dancing fall.
Avatar f tn But I can continuously do the clicking sound by bending my knee almost fully. But there is no pain.
Avatar m tn s just in behind my knee cap on the right side. It cracks every time when I straighten my knee especially when I'm trying to contract it with force. My knee has also been swollen and stiff ever since surgery, and is noticeably more so than my right normal knee. The swelling really inflames when I walk around to class during the day and makes me limp if it's especially bad. When I bike though, it seems that the swelling possibly decreases, and all the stiffness goes away.
Avatar f tn This has probably be asked about a billion times but I give it a shot. I'm a 31 year old male I'm in great shape. I have a spot on my left knee if I bend my knee and knead on it it's a sharp shooting electric like pain on the outside of the left knee almost dead even with the top outside corner of my knee cap.
Avatar n tn The pain was really bad, both the front and back of the knee. I never experienced clicking/popping in that knee prior. But suddenly it was happening all the time. As the pain subsided the clicking/popping got worse. It has been a couple months, the clicking/popping still very much there. I tried working out again for the first time in months last Wednesday, and felt nothing during the workout or afterwards.
Avatar f tn But then up and pain subsided. Possibly knee cap moved back in place. Now then in morning knee lil swollen, pain when walking, no bending or squatting which would lead my proffessional opinion to be you over streched tendons, possibly a slight tear. Use an ice pack for 2 days twice a day 30 mins each. No more weights till Friday. If everything returns to normal leave the squats out for an additional week. However by this Friday if knee is still the same, go see family doctor.
Avatar m tn Hello, thanks for responding the pain has not gone away and it has been almost three weeks, the area of the pain feels to be a little under my knee cap in front and slightly moving to the left side of the knee cap area. When I bend it and try to put weight the pain is a instant sharp shooting pain and it looks a tiny bit puffy on the left side of the knee cap but I put ice and it don't go down. Had xrays done and I was told by ER dont look bad, should I not listen and get a MRI?
Avatar m tn I would first say, do not do any exercises that cause pain. The pain could be realted to the knee cap. Apply ice (no heat!) 10 minutes at a time a few times a day.
Avatar n tn Prepatellar bursitis, patellar subluxation, knee cap dislocation all can lead to pain directly over the knee cap.Rest, antiinflammatory medications, application of ice to the knee all are very important for reducing the symptoms. If the symptoms persist or are severe it is best to see an orthopaedician.I hope it helps. Best luck and kind regards!
Avatar f tn But no use, then had advised me to wear knee cap for few days. I was feeling better with knee cap. I removed it after 25 days, it was little better for 2 days, then again the pain is back. After few days, went to orthopedic, he said no problems and advised me to do some exercises. Then also no use. I have still have the pain in my knee and following parts....couldn't talk for more than 10 mins. Could you please advise me how to solve this and become normal.
Avatar f tn When sitting down there is no pain, and I can move my leg around with no pain while sitting. My knee pops occasionally but nothing new. I'm in the military, and I don't want to go to the doctor unless I have to so I don't lose a deployment coming up. Any advice is appreciated.
