Avatar n tn It started out of the blue, my scalp became very itchy and I could not help scratching it, when I scratched it, what appeared to be white flakes of skin came off. I thought this was just normal dandruff so bought Anti-dandruff shampoo (over the years I have tried every Anti-dandruff shampoo you can think of, even stuff from my GP).
Avatar m tn Hi I've just found this forum and I'm delighted! I have to wash my hair EVERY day and by lunchtime it smells bad, more so on my scalp but my hair too! I've tried T-Gel, Nizorel, Vosene, Sulphur shampoo, anti dandruff stuff prescribed by the doctor (who actually didn't believe me, she clearly didn't get close enough!) and I'm starting to get paranoid, not to mention worried about the condition of my hair due to constant washing, drying straightening.
Avatar f tn Have you tried switching your shampoo? Do you use any anti-dandruff shampoo? Are you seeing any rash accompany the itching?
Avatar f tn I thought it was because of hot summer days but not quiet. I had dandruffs so I have been using anti dandruff shampoo which helped but the itch would not go away. I washed my hair and next thing I know it itchs. I cut my hair shorter. I went to demotalogist and was given a medicated shampoo which was too strong for me so I stop using it. I saw this tea tree oil and pine oild anti dandruff shampoo and use it but still itch. I dont know what shampoo to use anymore.
Avatar f tn Your doctor would be able to prescribe a specific shampoo for you. Or you can purchase from the pharmacy, without a prescription, a shampoo that will treat the dandruff and any fungal infection that is causing it. Always read the directions carefully how to use those shampoos. Normal dandruff is caused by a dry scalp. At home to help moisturise the scalp you can rub some baby oil or coconut oil. Coconut oil has antibacterial, antifungal and anti viral properties.

17551709 tn?1457744886 I tried washing my hair with different shampoos, tried washing my hair multiple times per day and even tried several different anti-dandruff shampoos without success. Now I'm going to start using home remedies like apple cider vinegar.
Avatar f tn Nizoral® A-D Anti-Dandruff Shampoo addresses the needs of African American hair. Nizoral® A-D provides the benefit of long-lasting relief from dandruff, including flaking, itching and dryness -its active ingredient adheres to the scalp's proteins, so it keeps working in-between washings. Even though it's strong and effective, Nizoral® A-D is also safe for relaxed, chemically and color-treated hair.
Avatar n tn hi friends, when ever i sctratch my head , some white wetty substance get stucked into my nails.... what is this ? is this fungus ? or dandruff? i shampoo four times a week with garnier antidandruff, ......pls help me...
Avatar m tn I myself have had the same sort of thing lucky you had no burning it does sound like seborrhiec dermatitis using an anti dandruff shampoo such as nizorelle (costs about £5.00) contains ketocozanle which acts as an anti fungal ingredient and can also be used as a body wash (so my doc informs me) in the dry hair only formulation it uses collagen to nourish and repair the hair shaft as well as improving overall condition.
Avatar f tn Have you tried any anti - dandruff shampoo for a start? It sounds more complicated than dandruff but it shouldnt harm your current condition. The presence of puss could refer to folliculitis. Start with a common shampoo like head & shoulders to see if it gets any better although i would suggest you to visit a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn hello, thanks for the explanation and advice.I found a solution to my problem, and i was the shampoo that i was using. Right now im using himalaya's anti dandruff shampoo and it works. No more greasy hair. Thank you so much and i appreciate the explanation you provided, it helped a lot.
Avatar n tn I agree with jemma116 about going back to the doctor. Did you see a dermatologist or your primary care physician? If you didn't see a dermatologist, I would suggest seeing one for this type of issue. It could be that the shampoo is drying your scalp out and exacerbating the dandruff and irritating the sores, preventing healing. I've personally found Head & Shoulders, Nizoral, Selsun Blue, and all those anti-dandruff shampoos to make my scalp worse.
9562964 tn?1416928231 Nizeral, polytar and t gell shampoo are all great for dandruff. You could try nioxin shampoo. You get a 3 part system. Nioxin cleanser , scalp revitaliser ( conditioner) and scalp treatment. It is designed for thinning hair but would help your dandruff aswell. It will unblock blocked follicles to aid hair growth and also make the hair you have look thicker and stronger.

Avatar f tn I have had dandruff on scalp since very long time. But recently due to some reason I have very bad acne on face. Fearing that those would leave me marks I went to dermatologist and was prescribed acne clear gel, hidrate lotion and adaferin gel. I have been using acne gel and hidrate lotion from one month my acne settled well. But from last 3 days I am getting very bad white flakes on face. My face is tight and some time applying lotion burns my face.
Avatar f tn I recently shaved my head, I do this once every two months and I notice some round red patches that were not there before. They are completely flat, I had no hair loss in the areas and they are not itchy at all. The patches began hurting after I shaved my head. I am thinking tinea capitis but that's just a guess. The only flaking I had was general dandruff I've always had and treated with anti dandruff shampoo, this red spot is new.
Avatar f tn I tried a dandruff shampoo that contains zinc pyrithione, but this time I rubbed the shampoo directly on the spots instead of just the foam. My ears and groin are still red but the scales and scabs are virtually gone in less than 10 days and I only itch when the skin is wet (sweat or post-shower). Hey, this works. And I'm tired of itching. And now parts of my scalp are itching, on top of the ears, face, chest, belly area and groin.
Avatar f tn dandruff is dry skin - you can rub lotion into your scalp
Avatar m tn Hello doctor. For the past month or so I have been using an anti-dandruff shampoo named "Triatop". It's main ingredient is "Ketoconazole". I've use it twice a week. Since I have noticed that my hair has thinned out a bit. Since this discovery I haev stopped use. My main question and concern is if the hair loss is permanent or if my hair will grow back again? I am 22 years old. What is your opinion on this and is there any action I should take? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have dandruff- which the selsun blue shampoo should help, but sometimes it can be resistant to anti-dandruff shampoos for various reasons. You could try some other brands (such as head and shoulders) or you could try some home remedies- lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. If that doesn't work, you may want to head back to your doctor to see if the flakes are indications of another medical condition- it could be something like eczema.
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.

Avatar n tn I got some dandruff shampoo to hope that it will help but some people are telling me I should go to the doctor. I'd like to avoid paying the fees if at all possible. Is this something that will go away with after use of the shampoo?
Avatar m tn I noticed this bald spot after using a hair thickening oil, after using that oil I noticed that I was losing patches of hair. So i am discontinuing that oil now. Also i have Dandruff and I am taking Ayurvedic medication for that. Is there any medicine or treatment that will grow my hair back ?
