Avatar m tn Welcome to the STD forum. I'll try to help. You had at least 2 separate medical problems; probably neither one was an STD. The nausea, vomiting, chills, diarrhea etc was some sort of virus, or perhaps a bacterial intestinal infection -- i.e., traveler's diarrhea. You could have caught such an infection from a sex partner, but more likely the timing was coincidental.
Avatar f tn "Traveler's diarrhea" that is caused by parasites (food or water poisoning) often starts with some delay and it may also last for ...weeks...Ova & parasites tests of the stool would show if you have parasites. Treatment is with antibiotics. If you do not treat it diarrhea may last for weeks and even after healing some parasites may stay in your bowel...
Avatar f tn He probably ate something that did not agree with his stomach. One safe way to get rid of stomach bacteria / virus is by taking Activated Charcoal pills. Its the same charcoal we give in the Emergency room to absorb - remnants of drug overdose. Then it passes out thru the stools. The bottle will have instructions as to how to take it. In his case, it will absorb whatever is causing his sickness. This same activated charcoal is one of the Cures for Traveler's Diarrhea.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Common side effects of ciprofloxacin are stomach pain, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset and restlessness. Rarely it can cause skin sensitivity to sunlight, rash, breathing difficulty etc. Vaginal discharge with odour and back pain are the manifestations of UTI. Since how long are you using ciprofloxacin? Feel free to ask if you have any more doubts. Take care.
Avatar m tn I am a 27 years old guy and recently i went to Thailand and received an unprotected oral sex from a masseuse. I started feeling stomach issues from the same day and after two days i got diarrhea(gastritis) followed by headache, stiff neck and backache after few days. I visited a doctor when i came back and he said that most probably its a traveler's diarrhea because of food and alcohol. After another 10 days i got mild sore throat, ear blockage and body pain.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks ago, I had sex with a commercial sex worker. I have had no previous history of any STI/STD (only had one sexual partner prior). During the intercourse the condom came off a few times, and I think there may have been a point where my penis was inside uncovered. I also received unprotected oral sex. Since then I have been extremely paranoid and suffering anxiety.
Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room for diarrhea and vomitting. They gave me ciprofloxacin for an antibiotic and I had never taken it before. When I took the 3rd dose, I had the worst diarrhea ever so I decided to stop the antibiotics. Subsequently, I took 2 tablets of ultracarbon and rested. My diarrhea became better however the next day and the day after, I experienced mild to sharp stomach cramp due to excessive gas which I must discharge.
Avatar f tn About 3.5 weeks ago (24 days), I had sex with a commercial sex worker. I have had no previous history of any STI/STD. I received unprotected oral sex and during the vaginal intercourse the condom came off a few times (had to replace), and I think there may have been a point where my penis was inside uncovered. Since then I have been extremely paranoid and suffering guilt/anxiety.
Avatar m tn Drink plenty of water to prevent any dehydration, take some oral rehydration solution and consult a doctor/physician as antimotility agents to control diarrhea and a course of antibiotics is needed. Since diarrhea is associated with fever, so the cause seems bacterial for which antibiotics may be needed. Hope it helps. Take care and do keep me posted on how you are doing. Warm regards.
Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room for diarrhea and vomitting. They gave me ciprofloxacin for an antibiotic and I had never taken it before. When I took the 3rd dose (500mg per dose), I had the worst diarrhea ever so I decided to stop the antibiotics. At the 7 day, my diarrhea returned and I took ultra carbon but it didn't work. So far, I had never taken any probiotics. Any advice?
Avatar f tn Hello. About 3 weeks ago, I had sex with a commercial sex worker (first time ever I have done such a thing). I have had no previous history of any STI/STD (only had one sexual partner prior). Since then I have been extremely paranoid and suffering anxiety.
Avatar m tn t understand why they gave you antibiotics for food poisoning though...you normally just vomit it out...or get severe diarrhea for a few days. Normally they only give them if you either had sepsis ( blood poisoning ) or were pregnant with listeriosis. The only other time is if you have a compromised immune system. Anyway, if you only had the food poisoning a few days ago, then your stomach may be sensitive still. If it's been a few weeks...then you have a totally different problem. .
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm unable to post to the general Gastroenterology forum. My basic question is this: Have you ever seen cases of IBS present with one-sided flank pain rather than abdominal pain? Stats/History: Healthy, active 34-year-old female, 5'6" 135 pounds. 2 prior C-sections, Hashimoto's disease (well controlled for 2+ years with Levoxyl), mild asthma Background: I traveled to Mexico (Cabo) in mid-October. I had traveler's diarrhea for a few days.
20131836 tn?1490914994 I recently returned from the Philippines and had a bout with what I thought was a stomach virus, my Doctor prescribed Ciprofloxacin for any bacteria and another medication for the diarrhea. now the problem I'm having is my heart rate keeps going up when I stand or walk. At first it was thought that it was because I was dehydrated, but so far they haven't found anything else wrong. please help, this is scaring me and I can't get any answers.
Avatar m tn I can’t empty my bowel, there is inflammation in my rectum and doctor after colonoscopy said it must be proctitis, and gave some medicines “ Ciproxin 500 (ciprofloxacin), Metronidazole tablets USP 500mg, NT-TOX (NITAZOXANIDE)”, by taking the pills I instantly got cured, but by the time the medicines were finished, again I have the same problem. So whenever I have antibiotics its inflammation goes away, but when I don't consume antibiotics it comes back.
Avatar m tn Had unprotected sex on 4/14/21 6 days later started having abdominal pain and frequent urination, upset stomach/diarrhea and muscle aches two weeks after. Had urine tests std/hiv screening at 4-5 weeks post incident and everything clear. Been given doxycycline for 7 days, tried azithromycin and a shot. Avatar f tn I don't know if I have Trich or not but I was wondering if taking Ciprofloxacin 500mg 2x daily would cure it?
Avatar m tn Hi guys need your advice, i have just came back from malaysia and had watery stools for a week. Just visited the doctor and she gave me ciprofloxacin antibiotics for five days. My diarrhea still persists. She claimed its a bacteria infection.
Avatar m tn Welcome to our Forum. We get many questions of this sort. It is my pleasure to tell you that the ARS would not start within 3-4 days of exposure to in infected partner. It takes far longer than that for the virus to enter the body, replicate and then to elicit an antibody response which is a major part of what causes the ARS. Your symptoms, as you imply, do not match up well with the ARS (no rash, sore throat, etc) either.
Avatar n tn Dear Maggie: In order to allow for enough time to bring your vaccinations up-to-date, it is generally recommended that you see a travel medicine/health provider about 6-8 weeks prior to your departure. Recommended vaccinations: if you are not up-to-date with routine shots such as, measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (DPT) vaccine, influenza ("flu"), etc. Typhoid and Hepatitis A are recommended for all travelers to Peru.
