Hi, It is possible that the infection has not been eradicated completely. Ciprofloxacin 500mg is prescribed twice daily for at least 5 days for treatment of UTIs. So please recheck with your doctor if you need to continue the course of antibiotics. Some measures you can undertake to eradicated the infection include: Drinking over 2000cc (8 glasses) of fluids per day, preferrably mor. take tylenol for the pain, every 6-8 hours, but do not continue the tylenol for more than 3 days.

Could this be something other than a UTI? Urine culture showed a bacterial infection. Is it common for this to take 1 or 2 courses of antibiotics to clear up?

i am 20 years old male.. and had gerd from last month.. now i have some uti when i had my urinalysis i have a 10-15hpf of pus cells.M y doctor talled me that i should drink lots of water, and i did. and of taking in antibiotics named "Ciprofloxacin" for a week. i got an hpf of 2-4pus cells after a week of diagnosis. but the burning on urination never quite went away (the discharge subsided after a day or two). so, in order to combat a possible UTI, i took cipro twice a day for four days. now, a week after stopping cipro, i still have slight burning on urination and my testicles feel abnormally sensitive. A simple urine test is all that is required to diagnose a UTI. These tests are very sensitive and you can trust that your diagnosis was correct. The medications you were given are also very common to treat a UTI. Hyospasmal is given to stop cramping in the bladder which is a common side effect of having a UTI. Not everyone gets the cramping, but the medication will not harm you and if it keeps those painful cramps away......that is a good thing!

I did a full STI test and everything came out negative. the collected sample came out negative for herpes. I got a UTI went to an urgent care got prescribed Ciprofloxacin went to an OBGNY again cause i had a heating sensation when taking the Ciprofloxacin again I did a STI screening took urine sample and Nitrite was detected as well as Leukocytes but i was already treating for the UTI again everything negative.

The next day after intercourse i started having symptoms and had an appointment made. The dr told me i had a UTI and I was given BACTRIM SULFAMETHOXALE. The antibiotic worked well, but a few days later the infection came back. Then i took ciprofloxacin, and the same thing happend. I have given up on antibiotics and to manage this I always drink lots of water, but a few weeks later I started getting testicular pain during urination. Could this be epididymitis?

Furthermore, if you are being treated with ciprofloxacin for a possible chlamydial infection, it may be the wrong medication. Ciprofloxacin is NOT recommended for chlamydial treatment although many related medications are. It would be best to wait two weeks until you are tested. Im 33 wks pregnant and have a uti... doc gave me a 2nd batch of antibiotics to try. Im now taking Ciprofloxacin. .. is there ANYTHING else I can do to get over this? Just worried mite cause problems...

Thx for the comment Life360. I have not had any of the symptoms described for any of those STDs. I was thoroughly examined during my visit to the urgent care centre but I will consider further testing if anything to eliminate all possibilities.

I didn't notice much a day after I started taking it, but today (Sunday, the 15th) around 11:30pm, I felt that same pressure again. I didn't take any of the medication on Saturday (the 14th), but I find it strange I didn't feel any pressure in that area until just an hour ago.

I was prescribed ciprofloxacin for a UTI today, and am a little nervous about taking it because it says "It did not cause birth defects but it did appear to increase the risk for miscarriages when given to pregnant rabbits." what?!?! My Ob suggested it, and the pharmacist said it doesn't sound like it will be an issue and if the OB suggested it, then it's probably fine.. Ughh I hate taking medicine. Did anyone else use oral antibiotics during early pregnancy and turn out okay?!
