Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room for diarrhea and vomitting. They gave me ciprofloxacin for an antibiotic and I had never taken it before. When I took the 3rd dose, I had the worst diarrhea ever so I decided to stop the antibiotics. Subsequently, I took 2 tablets of ultracarbon and rested. My diarrhea became better however the next day and the day after, I experienced mild to sharp stomach cramp due to excessive gas which I must discharge.
Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room for diarrhea and vomitting. They gave me ciprofloxacin for an antibiotic and I had never taken it before. When I took the 3rd dose (500mg per dose), I had the worst diarrhea ever so I decided to stop the antibiotics. At the 7 day, my diarrhea returned and I took ultra carbon but it didn't work. So far, I had never taken any probiotics. Any advice?
Avatar n tn A few days later I was no longer vomiting, but diarrhea continued for another 2 weeks and I developed a blinding pain in my left side around my rib cage, I assume torn and pulled muscles from vomiting so much. I returned to work on September 9th. I wasn't 100% and I was very exhausted still. All seemed fine for a week or so, just milk cramps and tiredness, but nothing like the weeks before. More stool samples were done and I was told my Calprotectin levels were elevated.
Avatar m tn t understand why they gave you antibiotics for food poisoning though...you normally just vomit it out...or get severe diarrhea for a few days. Normally they only give them if you either had sepsis ( blood poisoning ) or were pregnant with listeriosis. The only other time is if you have a compromised immune system. Anyway, if you only had the food poisoning a few days ago, then your stomach may be sensitive still. If it's been a few weeks...then you have a totally different problem. .

Avatar m tn I can’t empty my bowel, there is inflammation in my rectum and doctor after colonoscopy said it must be proctitis, and gave some medicines “ Ciproxin 500 (ciprofloxacin), Metronidazole tablets USP 500mg, NT-TOX (NITAZOXANIDE)”, by taking the pills I instantly got cured, but by the time the medicines were finished, again I have the same problem. So whenever I have antibiotics its inflammation goes away, but when I don't consume antibiotics it comes back.

Avatar f tn Hi Janet, diarrahea with mucus means your intestines are not absorbing your food properly - the mucus is indicative of inflammation in either the small intestine, where food is absorbed/ or the colon, where the waste is eliminated. These symptoms can be caused by many factors: food poisoning, a parasitic infection, irritable bowel syndrome, or more seriously Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis).

Avatar n tn About three weeks or so after, I got extremely ill. I was very sick for a day or so (like bed ridden sick) and then had horrible diarrhea for a few weeks. I thought I had C dif! But began to then think it was the antibiotics I was on for the tooth just doing the gut flora wipe out. I started doing prebiotic things. I ate sauerkraut, pickles and drank kabocha tea. And then I took a good probiotic.
