Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room for diarrhea and vomitting and they gave me ciprofloxacin for an antibiotic. I had never taken it before and after the first dose i felt a little nauseated but they said that may happen. After the second dose i was perfectly fine. After the third dose, i felt a little sick as well but it went away soon. When i took the fourth dose, i began to convulse severely. My heart began to beat rapidly (and still is almost 24 hours later).

Avatar f tn Well about two weeks ago I began to have diarrhea every night. It would only happen at night though and it wasn't painful and nor did my stomach hurt like it normally would if I hate something my body didn't particularly care with. Well, about a couple days after that the gas began to get worse and eventually I was just kinda farting out yellow like mucous. I don't get the diarrhea every single night, but it is pretty much consistent. I didn't have it twice within the past two weeks.
Avatar m tn I went to the emergency room for diarrhea and vomitting. They gave me ciprofloxacin for an antibiotic and I had never taken it before. When I took the 3rd dose (500mg per dose), I had the worst diarrhea ever so I decided to stop the antibiotics. At the 7 day, my diarrhea returned and I took ultra carbon but it didn't work. So far, I had never taken any probiotics. Any advice?

After the treatment nothing changed. One week later, I experienced some serious lower GI bleeding - The blood was bright red, on the toilet paper, in the bowl, everywhere. It required several wipings to get rid of it. I did experience a cramping pain afterwards, similar to that caused by PMS.

Avatar n tn In general, the guidance for traveler's diarrhea is to take an antibiotic (Ciprofloxacin, Azithromycin) + an antispasmodic (Imodium) after the onset of symptoms (as long as there is not blood in the stool). If the symptoms cease after 24 hours of taking the antibiotic + antispasmodic, then you can stop both of the medications. If the symptoms are persistent, the usual recommendations are to take the medications for 3 days.
Avatar m tn Long story short, i have been suffering from diarrhea and vomitting for almost three weeks now. The diarrhea started off being after i ate, immediately. (5-10 minutes after). They gave me antibiotics (ciprofloxacin), lomotil, and zofran. Since coming home the diarrhea has gotten better, slightly.

Vomiting/diarrhea lasted for 4 days before i had to seek the ER for an IV to get rehydrated. I was unable to eat , but was able to keep down fluids. Avatar n tn Hi there! Ciprofloxacin does cause an upset stomach, bowel changes like diarrhea or constipation, bloating etc.You have stopped taking cipro 3 weeks back so the constipation should not persist so long. You need to think of other possibilities causing constipation like a low fiber diet, lack of physical activity, irritable bowel syndrome, medications if you are taking any, change in daily routine like travelling etc or any problem with the colon or rectum.

Avatar f tn I was admitted to the hospital, and it turned out I had a Staph infection which was (now) in my blood and bone. I was in the hospital for a total of 2 months because the infectious disease 'specialists' never gave me the right antibiotics to cure the staph ... at least 9 different drugs were tried, and I was sent home with a 'pump' that, of course, had the wrong antibiotic. I was sent home after my 2nd stay in the hospital (apparently, still not cured...).
Avatar m tn Hello all, For the past three weeks, I have experienced a dull ache that seems to go back and fourth between both testicles. For some back story, I had unprotected sex with a girl I know for about 15-20 seconds. Three days later, I started to notice the slight pain. I also started to have diarrhea. Naturally I freaked out and suspected some sort of STD. Since then, I went to immediate care twice and have had two negative tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.
