ciprofloxacin and metronidazole

t gotten my results, yet. I stopped taking the Ciprofloxacin and the Metronidazole, and I feel way better. I still have the occasional pain, and the HIDA scan hurt really bad, too. It didn't click that it could've been my medications until today (Sunday), and obviously I won't be seeing my doc. Is it possible that these medications could have caused me to have a gallbladder attack? If so, will all of these tests find anything?

hello, I have recently had a urine test and tested positive for ngu, been prescribed metronidazole, ciprofloxacin & prescribed myself with doxycycline tablets after research on the web. 1 day after i start medication I notice a rash in the head of my penis, it doesn't itch or irritate me, If I hadn't of seen it I wouldn't of knew it was there? can this be a side effect of by medication, or any other sti?

I stopped taking Ciprofloxacin on this day, per the advice of the Doctor at the clinic, and started taking Metronidazole twice a day for 7 days which I am currently taking. Today the symptoms appear to remain constant even after a day and a half of Metronidazole. I'm hoping that my system is just clearing itself of the bacteria and that I am getting the proper treatment. Do you think that I need to see a urologist? Should I refrain from sex?

I can’t empty my bowel, there is inflammation in my rectum and doctor after colonoscopy said it must be proctitis, and gave some medicines “ Ciproxin 500 (ciprofloxacin), Metronidazole tablets USP 500mg, NT-TOX (NITAZOXANIDE)”, by taking the pills I instantly got cured, but by the time the medicines were finished, again I have the same problem. So whenever I have antibiotics its inflammation goes away, but when I don't consume antibiotics it comes back.

The reason that the other poster could have been cured by cipro is that she may have had a Mycoplasma and it may have been sensitive to ciprofloxacin. But the standard treatment for bv is either metronidazole or Clindamycin. So you can try the cipro and see if it clears up but if it doesn't then if can take clindamycin I would then take probiotics after. Cipro can treat a lot of UTI's but not all. It depends on the bacteria that is causing the infection and how resistant it is.

Thinking that it was caused by an std,I want to the doctor who gave me a ceftriaxone injection and put me on ciprofloxacin pills for 3 days. The symptoms went down drastically but they never completely went away.

I got lightheaded and felt I was going to faint . I quickly wiped and a lot of bright red blood was on the toilet paper on first couple wipes, after several wipes it was clean. I haven't bled after that , but I can still feel a sharp pain inside my anus. Is this something serious ? Also can this affect my ability to hold in my poop/pee?

I was then prescribed doxycycline and ciprofloxacin, both for a 7 days, twice a day and told that i should feel a lot better. By about the 16th or 17th day after this I noticed the same clear discharge as before but now a bit more copious with a slight white tint. I came home from work one day and there was definately a good amount of discharge...unlike before. I also am now experiencing burning during urination (nothing overwhelming, but definately new) and some pain in my testicles.

The test results came back saying equivocal for chlamydia.

Another culture done and came back contaminated was treated with metronidazole. Now done with prescription and systems still persist. Going to call doctor to see if another analysis/culture. Any other suggestions on what I should do.

The routine went on and I have since been treated with 2g metronidazole and 500 mg ciprofloxacin twice a day for ten days. Nothing has really changed. I might feel a slight burn when urinating, but obviously not enough to be sure that I'm not just imagining it. Every now and again, I'll have cloudy urine, but it usually disappears after a few hours. My other chief problem is suprapubic pain on my right side specifically but it may be entirely unrelated.

Other antibiotics likely to cause seizures are ciprofloxacin, cefdinir, cephalexin, and penicillin (there are others too like metronidazole and TB drug INH etc). Usually taking vitamin B along with antibiotic prevents the likelihood of seizures. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care! I went to a different urologist which gave me ciprofloxacin and also sent me for sperm and the urethral discharge cultures. The urethral culture came back with gardnerella vaginallis. I was doing better with Cipro but showed allergic reaction so I had to stop it on fifth day and had some days without antibiotics.

If your symptoms are still present, I would suggest you request a swab test to look for white blood cells (this would indicate NGU) and a test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. If any of these are present, the treatment is pretty straightforward and highly effective. In addition, should you be found to have any of the above, you need to reciprocate your partner's good will and inform that she should bet treated for whatever you have as well. I hope this helps.
