The Dr said they can be tough on some people that was it nauseating , headaches, absolutely no alcohol ect. And what did you do to help cope with any side effects? It would help me to know what might possibly be around the corner for me so I can work thru it. I have to work regardless of how I feel (not an option), so your info will help me prepare getting thru the work day.
Avatar m tn Both Cipro and Levaquin are drugs of a class known as quinolones. Of the two Cipro has the least side effects. The sore muscles may last for weeks or months or you may feel better in a few days. With that class of drugs there are ocasional reports of permanent tendon damage. This does not mean they should not be used. It is a matter of risk and benefit.
Avatar f tn the ER doc gave me cipro. Wish I would have known then what I know now. Had bad side effects for over a year from it. My belief now is that most UTI's can be cleared up by taking cranberry pills, and flushing out your system with large amounts of fluids. Don't take a drug that is given out for people who have been exposed to anthrax... sigh. Unless you need a drug to stay alive don't take any because our bodies were not made to take them. My thoughts anyway.
Avatar f tn I have a history of prostatitis back in April of 2016 which I took care of with a month worth of Cipro 500mgx2 a day. Early this June,I started having discomfort and an urge to urinate after sexual intercourse with female unprotected (I'm uncircumcised if worth noting) starting the day after and suddenly went away. I blamed my symptoms on the alcohol on the account that I had been drinking heavy the night before.
Avatar n tn t tolerate any alcohol with metroidazole, others tolerate a little. If you have a normally sensitive stomach, you should use regular toothpaste for the time being.
Avatar n tn What are the most commonly reported side effects that you hear? What increases the absorption of the antibiotic into the prostate? 3) Is it safe/advisable to take cipro with propecia and marijuana? Can propecia or marijuana alter the effectiveness of cipro? Thanks very much!
Avatar n tn no. you cannot mix antibiotics and alcohol. you can end up with sever liver damage.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any problems with heart rhythm and taking cipro? I have read the side effects and it's scaring me. I don't have any QT prolongations but I sure have other rhythm problems.
Avatar m tn So yes---In fact--since you brought it up--I have a new group called side effects of medications. Feel free to post your side effects there.
Avatar f tn I was given Cipro for possible salmonella, and am concerned about all of the side effects I have been reading about. Is this a safe drug? I woke up with anxiety and some stiffness this morning, and am scared it's going to get worse. Please help.
Avatar m tn A week and a half into taking the antibiotic I began to feel burning muscle pain as well as neck and joint pain. I also had my appetite killed with Cipro I really didn’t eat in that period. Prior to this I had none of these symptoms and when I stopped taking Cipro and started taking the bactrim the pains I had originally were reduced by a large amount. They are still there but not as vivid as when I was taking Cipro. My appetite has returned.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Common side effects of ciprofloxacin are stomach pain, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset and restlessness. Rarely it can cause skin sensitivity to sunlight, rash, breathing difficulty etc. Vaginal discharge with odour and back pain are the manifestations of UTI. Since how long are you using ciprofloxacin? Feel free to ask if you have any more doubts. Take care.
2030686 tn?1351688548 If you are careful not to touch the needle it is sterile, if you touch it with something like an alcohol swab, it is less sterile. Alcohol swabs are good at cleaning surface dirt, but not so much for sterility, that is why it is not used for sterility in hospitals. In paramedic school, they taught us that the only germs that alcohol kills are the ones that cannot swim...
Avatar m tn We are all different, so you may get many responses of various side effects of Cipro. Some have trouble with their tendons when they take antibiotics. It can actually snap your achilles tendon. - Write down your adverse symptoms on a little card and carry it in your wallet to avoid another bad experience with Cipro. - It does take some time for antibiotics' effects to leave your body. Sorry. Hope your symptoms abate soon.
Avatar f tn Cipro has a lot of side effects. Have you looked them up? I am not saying come off it but what you are experiencing could be from that. It stays in your system long after you take it. Are you still taking pain meds? I can't remember if Cipro causes constipation but pain meds do for sure. Are you taking any stool softeners to help? Ginger or peppermint tea help a lot with bloating as well as a heating blanket. When you mean blocked do you mean constipated blocked?
Avatar m tn Doctors run through many scans and could not find a problem with me. As i read on the net that cipro causing many adverse effects like permanent damage on the tendons , nerves , tissues. I wonder it is true and is there a remedy towards it ? Is it a long term side effect on my nerves or it will be better in time. Thanks anyone shed some light in it?
Avatar m tn I have taken Flomax for a week, and am very weary of the side effects. It effects my vision - I can feel it in my eyes. It dulls my brain, I can feel it in my head. It caused the ringing in my ears to get worse. I've had minor chest pain for a few days. All of these are on the list of side effects.
Avatar m tn My experience is anecdotal, but significant. I cannot tolerate Levaquin at all, but take Cipro without any side effects. I know at least four other individuals with the same tolerance for Cipro.
Avatar m tn t usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
Avatar n tn Call your doctor. If you are having side effects, you did the right thing by stop taking the meds, but you need to talk to your doctor soon. Also, since the cipro did not work it might be a good idea to get a culture and sensitivity (if possible) to see which meds might work. it's best to avoid drinks like coffee, soda and alcohol when you have a UTI.
443434 tn?1255891233 I had taken Levaquin before with no side effects at all, so I hoped any side effects would be temporary and hoped for the best. I took it for three days. For some reason the doctor put me on 1000mg a day even though I'm only 5'2 and weigh 110.
Avatar m tn The Quinolone family of antibiotics are very potent and dangerous and can leave you with lasting side effects. You can google it and find there is a black box warning for this medication and there are numerous forums of people who have been "floxed" and are dealing with side effects years after taking the drug. There are safer abx out there for respiratory infections. I took a quinolone and I can tell you it messed me up big time while on it.
Avatar n tn I too am on 175 - 200mg of Zoloft and I admit when first starting the medication I was feeling quite dizzy and nauseated. Dosage started at 50mg, then after a week increased, and every week increased until I reached 175mg. In the past my doctor has had me on Celexa and Effexor but Zoloft seems to work the best, for me that is. Everyone is different. I waver between 175 - 200mg depending on the kind of day I'm having.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you had some kind of infection going on...and since you had an ablation in your uterus AND a D&C, that is most likely the source of the infection. From what you describe, I'd be more inclined to think your bad symptoms came more from your beingj so ill and not the Doxycycline...thought any medication you take can give you side effects...and yes, even the Cipro. If it was me...I'd take that Cipro just like it was ordered and til it was gone...or you can end up in ICU.
