Again, prescribed cipro 500mg 2x for 7 days. 10 days after cipro ended, I did have a set of std tests done. (We did have sex during the cipro cycle multiple times). All came back negative. Would the cipro have caused a negative? Or would the dead cells of potential chalmydia still have shown up (urine test). Should I get retested? What else could this be?
I went in to see a urologist, had urine analysis done, prostate exame, and told him my story. He said my urine was clean, the prostate felt normal and he didn't think there was any infection, that we could treat it, or stop thinking about it and keep busy and that my "symptoms" (mostly discomfort/fullness) would go away. He then said, lets just keep you on your dr's prescription of cipro for a month and next month we can do doxy for a month.
Hi, I am a 49 year old male. For about 2 years now I have been having prostate issues. The symptoms vary in their severity but here they are. I urinate about 20 -25 times a day including 3-4 during bedtime hours. My urine can get very yellow a lot of the time and urination is painful quite often. The tip of my penis gets very sensitive sometimes and I have pain in my perinium and anus .
On having a PSA test done he had a reading of 58. Is his chances of having Prostate Cancer greater with a reading as high as this or will the prostate shrink?.
I did have a prostate exam which is why I was put on the antibiotics. The Fam Prac MD thought my prostate was mildly enlarged. I will be done with my Cipro in about a week. I was also getting some relief in the scrotal area by applying anti-fungal creams that are otc for jock itch or athletes foot. Like I have stated, nothing has completely cleared.

I know a guy who had to come to china to get direct injections of antibiotics into his prostate because he had chlamidia in his prostate for 14 yrs. It messed him up. Do things to help get antibiotics to the organ. Prostate massages drink lots of water. Take a hot bath 1hr after a good dose of antibiotics take a hot bath and ejaculate. Like I said get on this and get on it quick. If plausible consider IV antibiotics. Clindamycin.
1) Does this diagnosis sound correct? Should I push for a digital rectal exam or any more tests to confirm or is this a straight forward diagnosis?
2) What is the success rate for cipro for these types of infections? What are the most commonly reported side effects that you hear? What increases the absorption of the antibiotic into the prostate?
3) Is it safe/advisable to take cipro with propecia and marijuana? Can propecia or marijuana alter the effectiveness of cipro?

I had prostatitis in the past but my question is how did i contract it? I went to my gp and given cipro for 500mg 1x12hours
For 4 weeks. I went to the the the clinic got a negative result its been 3 weeks now. I suffer pain in the perinium and pain when i ejaculate.
I dont no the cause of it but if its an infection can i pass it on to someone else even though ive been on cipro for 3 weeks and also the problem is in the perinium.
Three months later I had acute prostitutes. Cipro therapy seemed to stop symptoms. Now three months more lately my PSA is 7.8! I am on Cipro again and will get a PSA in three weeks. If I am elevated my urologist will probably want to do another biopsy. What is the likely diagnosis? Am I just having recurring prostitutes? What is the likelihood of Prostate Cancer with a normal biopsy a year ago and intermittent high and normal PSA?
The next day, significant prostate pain and increasing urethral discomfort. Went to ER, prescribed Cipro 2x day (250mg each) for 10 days and 1g Zithromax. Symptoms resolved in 48 hours but now still on Cipro and 6 days after Zithromax and pain has returned to urethra as bad as before but now no real discomfort in prostate.
What's next? What do I possibly have?

Went to regular doctor for possible prostate problem. Again, blood and urine, now about 5 weeks after, again all negative. Was put on Cipro for ten days, along with Flomax. After 10 days, still have same symptom of needing to urinate. Sent to Urologist. After his exam, he got fluid to excrete from my penis with anal exam, culture showed resistance to Cipro. He gave me Bactrim, which I have been on since July 6th. This is the 17th, and the symptom still has not gone away.
maybe Flomax only helps if you have a UTI though to better flush infected urine out? it seems though that the semen will empty into the bladder then and be flushed out of your system instead of going to the urethra so I don't know if that is good or not?
I've read of long term loss of STRENGTH on Flomax and possible sexual dysfunction.
I have a life altering case of Prostatitis? BPH? Not sure. I urinate frequently day and night and feel like Urine is slowly creeping down (very slowly) the inside of my penis shaft... It's a feeling that comes and go..but is pretty constant throughout the day and night. My internist did a prostate exam and said that it was "hot" and "inflamed" and diagnosed a case of protatitis. He put me on Cipro for 30 days. No relief.
All other urine tests, cat scan came up normal. Prescribed me cipro and flomax. Had a really bad reaction to the cipro so started with doxycycline today.
Wondering if it's possible for flu to cause these issues I'm having? And has anyone had luck with doxy? Note I did have some minor 'leakage' prior to this happening but nothing like what I'm experiencing now.
t go away completely so they did a prostate exam. His prostate was swollen so they continued him on cipro for another three weeks. His symptoms stayed the same. Pressure in his rectum and the tip of his penis was sore with some occasional trouble urinating. They switched him to 2000mg a day of penicillin and it's been a week and his symptoms still aren't better.
this october..came back.burned once. urine test..hematuria..crystals..ect.. took cipro 10 days. urine cytology,ultrasound ( pelvic,abdominal) negative. despite cipro..discomfort continued. cramps ( lower back..upper back, stomach, discomfort in bottom sternum, very sore buttocks.
did many gi tests..all fine. clamydia,gonereah,hiv negative. in december..frequent urination.then dribbling..then went away. uroligists ( 2 ) say everything is fine.
last monday, burned once..again. slight..
My urine test was negative for any bacteria. Put me on cipro for a month. During cipro the pain in the tip of my penis was gone but I always maintained that low grade lower abdominal pain. After the cipro within two days the pain got worse. So now he has me on septra. I've been on it for a few days but i still have that low grade abdominal pain some frequency and altered sensation at the tip of my penis.
what should i do?
