cipro

Avatar m tn It is also responsible for urinary tract infections, bacterimia, endocarditis, meningitis, and can be found in wound infections along with many other bacteria and not necessarily due to sexual contact. It is also listed as one of the most common cause of nosocomial infections such as those occurring after surgery of the abdomen or a puncturing trauma, but can also be linked to the increased use of IV’s and catheters.
Avatar m tn sen him home with cipro, steroids, naproxen, and flonase. Was told if he is no better in 3 days to go to the ER. Not better on 3rd day, he went to the ER, Doctor told him there was nothing wrong with the ears or sinuses and sent him home with no answers. The same night he was in so much pain from his ears and head I took him to a different ER. The doctor states the same thing, nothing wrong, but hear it is a different antibiotic and darvasets? by this time we are both very frustrated.
Avatar m tn Stiff neck, without fever, headache, etc, simply is not a symptom of any infection and certainly not of meningitis. (Nobody gets meningitis due to any cause without fever, bad headache, headache, and feeling horribly ill.) Neck pain, back pain, etc generally is caused by muscle spasm and undoubtedly happens to tens of thousands of people each day in the US, and a several thousand each day catch chlamydia, and a hundred times that number have new sex during any one week.
Avatar n tn He was put on Augmentin again and also started having redness and infection in his left eye. With Cipro drops the eye seemed to be doing better, but again there was this feeling of something in his left eye. The opthalmologist ruled out eye glasses or any infection in the eyes and put him on Vigamox and his eye seems to being better. During the 2nd round of Augmentin, complaints of headache and tummyache continued, this time his neck also started hurting and also throat.
Avatar m tn Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
Avatar f tn Also, I am being treated with Cipro, which I just took a round of that for a UT about 2.5 months ago. Should I be repeating the same antibotic so soon, and will it be as effective if I do.
Avatar n tn I took 1 dose of 500mg Cipro Friday night at 5:30p.m. Immediately felt flushed and red in the face. I continue to have flare ups 3 days later. How long does this take to go away.
Avatar n tn Do cipro cause vaginal discharge and oder and disconfort in my stomach and back and sluggishness? This discussion is related to Discomfort after taking Cipro.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
Avatar m tn Yes Cipro can definately cause rythm issues. I cant remember where I read this but my doctor was going to give it to me until I showed him the info (that he did not have himself). So yes---In fact--since you brought it up--I have a new group called side effects of medications. Feel free to post your side effects there.
Avatar n tn is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
Avatar f tn You should get ahold of your doctor if you're sick and that early, especially with a fever.
Avatar m tn I do not have a fever or headache, nor sensitivity to light. But, is it possible that I contracted meningitis from the toliet water after using the pipe and handling the keys? Last Sunday, I started the gym again and did vigorous ab exercises (sit ups and crunches) after a year-long haitus. I also did arm exercises with weights. I noticed my arms were sore the very next day but my neck and back started feeling sore about three days later.
1936550 tn?1348360208 My baby girl has meningitis. They are finding out if its viral or bacterial. Please pray for my baby that its just viral. She will be one month on the 14th. I'm scared for her and have been crying non stop. Its hard waiting for the results. Please everyone pray for my baby.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the infectious disease forum. I am not a doctor but I am a microbiologist and my opinion from what you said is that no it doesn't sound like meningitis. You don't have a fever do you? I think after 17 hours you would also be getting worse. Sepsis you would have Skin rash, low blood pressure, fever, rapid heart beat. So you don't sound like you have these things.
Avatar f tn my 5 yr old daughter just got out of the hosp for meningitis........they could not give me a 100% answer but they are sure it was bacterial meningitis! no one told us how she got it, all they said was that i did the right thing by taking her to er asap! friday morning she told me her head hurt when she looked down and me being a nurse i thought meningitis but "what are the odds" so i took her to daycare and told them to call me if she got sick!
Avatar m tn Have you been exposed to meningitis? I understand you are a college student, and meningitis can be more prevalent in close quarters such as when living in a dorm. My honest thoughts are that you have a flu virus rather than meningitis, however, if you have been exposed to meningitis, you most definitely need to be checked. If you have been exposed to meningitis, by all means go to the ER and tell them you have been exposed and have been feeling somewhat sick.
Avatar f tn You need to consult a physician though it is unlikely to be meningitis since it is not a live vaccine and cannot cause even a mild form of meningitis or septicemia. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn About 2 days ago I ate a sort of cold piece of KFC chicken then went out and ate a shish kabob, woke up with a bloated stomach and after fighting with myself for hours, I finally threw up, I fell asleep and when I woke up I was extremely nauseous and I couldn't even stand without losing my balance, I had diahrrea and gases for the whole day and my neck and lower back was hurting and it was giving me a headache, I didn't eat anything the whole day, just drank plenty of Gatorade and ate 1
Avatar f tn I had meningitis at the age of 5 and I was in a car wreck in 1996, I had a cervical fusion and dissection. I am having pain similar to a sciatic nerve and lack of mobility in my legs it used to only happen when I would sweep, weed the garden movements such as that but, now it is almost daily and I have had an MRI, nerve conduction & X-rays (waiting to see the Dr. next week for complete results) so far the only issue that they have told me is that I have arthritis in my lower spine.
Avatar m tn I started treatment for it on 6/7 took the Cipro (10 days 500mg 2X aday). The Cipro seemed to start working at the end of the treatment but then about a week later the burning slowly began to come back. Also, the nurse told me that I had a bad UTI, I would think that if my UTI was worse than others then the normal 10 day regiment of 500mg of Cipro may not have been enough. The online doctor recommended that I be on 20-30 days of the medication.
429949 tn?1224691579 Quix, I was wondering if you knew the answer to this question? Could meningitis of any type show up as white matter lesions? If so would they look the similar to MS lesions. And if a person did have meningitis would it still show up on spinal tap eight months after the onset, or would it be cleared out of the spinal fluid by then?
Avatar f tn Can the herpes simplex cause the viral meningitis even if she does not have the genital herpes? She was tested negative for the virus a couple months ago. She was quite sick and had to be given morphine, anit-viral and steroids.
