1778927 tn?1381878747 what I am curious to know is if the birth defects discovered the other day are more likely related to the kidney failure vs. type 1 diabetes... I am only 34. I did have an amniocentesis preformed as well... I am in denial right now...
Avatar f tn Hi, I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.

Avatar m tn im scared that I may have kidney failure. im also having very loose stools but I dont know if that was from taking the cipro. I have another appointment today. anyone have an input?
Avatar f tn If you have only one kidney causing you problems it is very, very unlikely that you will get renal failure. Most people who have renal failure have anatomical abnormalities in both kidneys which have caused them problems for a very long time or are diabetic. Our kidneys can take a lot of abuse before they stop working completely. I hope this helps. Please go back to your GP and make sure that your symptoms are treated and find out what has caused your kidney to become swollen.
1442701 tn?1286383987 I thought that maybe I had pulled a muscle in my back even though I didn't even throw the ball that many to times since my lower left side of my back had been hurting. Felt like labor pains Monday night it hurt so bad. On Cipro now. I just wondered if anyone else has unexpected kidney infections too.
1840891 tn?1431547793 Kidney infections may require several weeks of antibiotic treatment. Kidney infections in adults rarely lead to kidney damage or kidney failure unless they go untreated or are associated with urinary tract obstruction. Bladder infections are generally self-limiting, but antibiotic treatment significantly shortens the duration of symptoms. People usually feel better within a day or two of treatment. Symptoms of kidney and prostate infections last longer.
422425 tn?1307992990 The most serious long term effect is decreased kidney function or kidney failure. The function of the kidneys will return after the harmful drug is not taken anymore, or when the underlying disease is cured by treatment. Avatar m tn I am 29 and I took cipro about 8 months ago for a kidney infection and after I took it for a few days I developed pain, tingling and crawly feelings on my back. I didn't realize that it could be from the cipro. I finished the prescription and went on to develop severe back pain between my shoulder blades and tingling skin in my arms and legs. I felt like my arms and legs had sunburn and it was hard to wear clothes sometimes. I went to a neurologist and a rhumey.
Avatar m tn Oh you poor thing! I do know how this feels. My husband died in January of 1999, and my dog only months later. It was very very hard indeed. Kidney Failure in such a young dog could have been caused by ingestion of some kind of toxin?..... acute illness or infection of some kind?....could be an inherited weakness?
Avatar f tn I hope you find it helpful somehow, and blessings for you and your dog - Blu Stage 3 kidney disease is one of the final stages of canine kidney disease, in which your dog will begin showing symptoms of kidney failure. Canine kidney disease occurs when, for whatever reason, your dog's kidneys are not doing their job of removing toxins from the blood efficiently. Often, by the time kidney disease reaches stage 3, kidney damage cannot be reversed.
Avatar m tn Hi. This sounds more like acute renal poisoning to me, but even if it is standard kidney failure there's still lots that can be done. Please join our User Group (Misfits4Me explains how above). Where do you live (country and region of the country)? What are you feeding your dog (please give specifics and full details)?

Some pet stores sell that now.

Avatar f tn Its cute, looks like he is winding up getting ready for take off! I think that dealing with this kidney failure stuff is just so overwhelming. Your mind is spinning all the time, worrying constantly. Like I said, I know it didn't come on over night, but once it got bad, the symptoms came on hard and fast. I was getting up everyday scared at what the deal would hold. Checking on my dear dog wondering how much worse he was. Waking up everyday and seeing him deteriorate.
Avatar m tn Renal anomalies could be responsible for decreased or deranged renal function and may lead to renal failure. One working kidney is enough for normal functions of the body. It would be difficult to comment if your other symptoms could be related. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating nephrologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn My 6 year 10 month Russian Blue male cat was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with kidney failure. His only symptons were a bout of vomiting and lethargy. His blood work was quite elevated, BUN 83mg/dl, CREA 5.1mg/dl, PHOS 8.8mg/dl. He has been given fluids twice and we have been giving him Azodyl capsules twice a day. Also sprinkling Epikatin on his food twice a day. We have been trying to transition him to renal diet with not a lot of success.
3117443 tn?1341948135 I just had to let my old friend of 14 years go because of kidney failure. He was a typical Jack Russel Terrier and anyone who met him would not believe he was as old as he was. He still acted like the puppy I brought home so many years before. That was until the disease started taking over. I noticed he had not been eating and was quickly losing weight. Blood work was done and the diagnosis made.
