cipro

Avatar f tn Hi, I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
1442701 tn?1286383987 I thought that maybe I had pulled a muscle in my back even though I didn't even throw the ball that many to times since my lower left side of my back had been hurting. Felt like labor pains Monday night it hurt so bad. On Cipro now. I just wondered if anyone else has unexpected kidney infections too.
Avatar f tn You could have an obstruction or an infection in the kidney. I was quite close to dying from kidney failure when I was given the wrong antibiotics to take. This is nothing to mess around with. Please go to the ER, see a urologist, GP or urgent care.
Avatar m tn I am 29 and I took cipro about 8 months ago for a kidney infection and after I took it for a few days I developed pain, tingling and crawly feelings on my back. I didn't realize that it could be from the cipro. I finished the prescription and went on to develop severe back pain between my shoulder blades and tingling skin in my arms and legs. I felt like my arms and legs had sunburn and it was hard to wear clothes sometimes. I went to a neurologist and a rhumey.
Avatar n tn (I was given a course of cipro without my Naturopathic Doc doing a urinalysis because I was going out of town the day after my symptoms began). I took the cipro (it was a short dose- 3 days, taken 2 times per day), and started to feel better. Then about a week later symptoms came back, tried to treat it naturally and then decided to try the cipro again. After this something still didn't feel right and I suggested a kidney infection as I had started having some back pain.
Avatar f tn Causes can be divided according to the affected organ and they are Kidney conditions (infection, pyelonephritis, kidney stones, polycystic kidney disease), Bladder conditions (cystitis, bladder polyp, bladder tumor), Urethral conditions (Sexually transmitted diseases, urethral injury, vaginal inflammation), and certain bleeding disorders. It can be due to chronic UTI or vaginitis also. I would suggest that you consult your Doctor so further investigation can be done.

Avatar f tn Even though I took all of these meds, can it be that I still have a UTI , kidney infection or kidney disease? I am in the process of getting a renal and pelvic sonogram but it is a long time from now because of the holidays. Please help! Pain is unbearable.
Avatar m tn Hello, For ruling out any kidney infections you should get kidney function tests and an ultrasound kidneys done. You should consult a physician or a nephrologist and get it ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
798555 tn?1292787551 Yes, I have taken Cipro this past year more than any person should, but it was for documented --potentially life threatening -- UTI or kidney stone related infections including hydronephrosis. I stay away from any of the fluro's at all cost and beg for an alternative antibiotic because of the warning above. But some of my infections have been so serious there's the risk/benefit.
1840891 tn?1431547793 Chronic kidney infections—infections that recur or last a long time—can cause permanent damage, including kidney scars, poor kidney function, high blood pressure, and other problems. Some acute kidney infections—infections that develop suddenly—can be life threatening, especially if the bacteria enter the bloodstream, a condition called septicemia.' What are the signs and symptoms of a UTI? Symptoms of a UTI vary by age, gender, and whether a catheter is present.
Avatar f tn Mine went away after 3 or 4 days. When I was hospitalized with a kidney infection I had cipro through an IV for 4 days and was on Zofran round the clock (every 4 hours) because it made me sick the entire time.
Avatar m tn I just returned from my urologist. I have one kidney so every year I go for a check up. I give him a specimen of my urine and he examines it under a microscope. He said that I had pus cells is my urine and checked it for tumors, cancers kidney stones and he said it is none of these. He asked me if I have been sexually active and I said yes. I said I had sex with a female in July and 2 days after that I had burning when I urinated. This lasted 3 weeks and then stopped in mid August.
Avatar f tn I went to GP, he prescribed me a bunch of antibiotics (Cipro, Bactrim, Macrobid), none of them work. Fast forward, went to see my GYN, she did a urethral swab and urine culture. My right part of urethra feels tender per GYN. The swab for STD/STI were negative. However, my urine came back positive for E.Coli. So I was prescribed Cipro, but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I am on Keflex 4x a day for 7 days. Today is 2nd day, I still feel the pain.
1778927 tn?1381878747 All tests report a good healthy functioning kidney...all tests were perfect except the left missing kidney...has anyone had similar expeience? Is it muscular? Nerve damage? I had an accident in 2002 in which I fractured my 2nd and 3rd lumbar vertabrae...does it take 10 years for never damage to appear? I am just very concerned and hoping someone has had a similar experience...Thank you.
378497 tn?1232143585 Have you taken cipro before? perhaps you should contact your doctor and change to a different antibiotic.... just a thought if the Cipro is causing you problems. I'm glad you made the sensible choice in your two options!
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with a uti and have been on cipro since Saturday. On Sunday night I started having a throbbing lower back pain which made it difficult to sleep. Monday morning my back felt better, but then it started again Monday evening. Felt much better Tuesday morning and felt like the uti was clearing up too. Even felt good enough to go to my exercise class. After the class the throbbing began again and it was pretty concentrated in my lower right side.
Avatar n tn They said that no bacteria was present. Prior to my EGD I was taking Cipro for a kidney infection. Could this have made the bacteria non present? If not bacterial than what ar the non bacterial types?
Avatar n tn Is there any reason that I should take another round of Cipro since I only took 5 days and rbc went from 3+ to 1+ with Cipro dose for 5 days? Thank you.
Avatar n tn s in my life, but it never felt like this at all. I just finished a week of Cipro. I feel better, but am still have that kidney ache or pain. Don't know what to do next. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Avatar m tn Regarding the urinary tract infection It sounds like the organism causing the problem is getting resistant to the drug Cipro and you may need a new prescription. Also, Cipro may be causing you to throw up. it is possible you have a kidney infection still and it is causing pain that is radiating to the front.

535822 tn?1443976780 First of all I have kidney stones ever present inside my kidney. They don't usually cause problems. About 3-4 weeks ago, I started having symptoms resembling a stomach bug (diarrhea) and fatigue for a couple of days, then started having flank pain. Went to urgen care and they gave me 3 days worth of cipro. She said I had a "few" white blood cells in my urine, but that was all. She also ordered a CT scan.
Avatar n tn I am a 35 year old male in good health who works out regularly. Several years ago in my 20's I was diagnosed with Prostatitis which was treated with Cipro which seemed to work. Lately, I have noticed that I am having trouble urinating with the same ease that I used too, additionally I am having problems ejaculating with the same ease/force I used to. I put myself on a 30 day regimen of Cipro which eased my problems. Having gone off the Cirpro the difficulties have returned.
1778927 tn?1381878747 GFR (very important!), BUN, and creatinine and also urinalysis. Once you see those results, you might have a better picture of what's going on with you. Remember, the GFR is very important and if yours is lower than 60, it's in the kidney disease range. If your GFR is normal (above 90) but you have protein in your urine, that also could indicate kidney disease. Those labs, if abnormal, need to be followed for 3 months to determine whether you really do have kidney disease.
