Prostatitis or inflammation of the prostate gland that can cause urinary frequency, urgency, and pain. Was diagnosed with acute prostatitis. Took cipro for 3 weeks. Just before cipro ended I ejaculated and it burned. Symptoms have subsided with heavy hydration, but the occassional irritation is still there and so is my swollen prostate? I'm also affraid to ejaculate as that may kick start the symptoms I'm failry convinced this is not an STD, but would like your input.
i took them both (1 diflucan) and took cipro for 10 days. symptoms in testicles and prostate felt better, but urethra was still hurting and uncomfortable mostly at night. my penis skin peeled like crazy, and the bumps got mostly better. my g/f noticed i had refils on the diflucan and cipro, so i called dr who was on vacation, but nurse checked w/ on call dr to see what i should do. was told to finish cipro and take another diflucan. this was on wed.
Recently went back to dr, as prostate irritation continued, and I have had urine leakage issues. Again, prescribed cipro 500mg 2x for 7 days. 10 days after cipro ended, I did have a set of std tests done. (We did have sex during the cipro cycle multiple times). All came back negative. Would the cipro have caused a negative? Or would the dead cells of potential chalmydia still have shown up (urine test). Should I get retested? What else could this be?
5cm cystic mass which lead to a CT of both abdominal and pelvic and nothing was discovered- no mass and no enlarged prostate.
The urethra pain then returned much worse with chills to the point I went to an ER clinic and they ran a UA tests for an UTI and discovered that i was high for Nitrites. The doctor was rude and bedside manner was sub par at best. I asked about the previous STI test and cipro use- in which he said he was not concerned about a false negative.

In June I felt pain in the perenium/rectum and I finally went to see a dr. I had taken flagyl thinking I probably had trick......but when I didn't get better, I went in to see the dr.
new diagnosis - prostatitis. Doc gave me cipro and doxy 8 days with no result. Bactrim for 10 days, no result. As I live in Africa, I went to Portugal to get a second opinion, and the doctor gave me levo for 20 days; no result. Afterwards tried another uru, and he told it was all about the food I was I taking, had a huge diet lost 7 kilos, no result.
My urine can get very yellow a lot of the time and urination is painful quite often. The tip of my penis gets very sensitive sometimes and I have pain in my perinium and anus . I notice that when I participate in a sporting activity or I sit too long, I might see some blood in my urine. I have been checked out by two doctors who told me I have prostatitis. Ejaculation and defication can bring me great relief but also I will very often have pain in my perineum several hours later.
On having a PSA test done he had a reading of 58. Is his chances of having Prostate Cancer greater with a reading as high as this or will the prostate shrink?.
I thought I had urethritis, and that is what my primary care thought also, but I went to see a urologist and he showed me with DRE that it is referred pain from prostate and what I really have is chronic aseptic prostatitis. In my case, this turned out to be related somehow to Crohn's disease, possibly from calcium oxalate crystals getting into the prostate. Cipro made me feel a lot worse. Flomax helps a lot with my symptoms.
It did not work and I took ceftriaxone and azithromycin which appeared to get rid of the GC, but I still had lingering symptoms (prostatitis)
I returned to the US and I was tested negative for G/C. My doc put me on Cipro for 2 weeks for prostatitis and urged me to wait and see, so I will give it a try. I will let you know how it goes.

For 4 weeks. I went to the the the clinic got a negative result its been 3 weeks now. I suffer pain in the perinium and pain when i ejaculate.
I dont no the cause of it but if its an infection can i pass it on to someone else even though ive been on cipro for 3 weeks and also the problem is in the perinium.
Good news from the procedure is that I do not have any bladder cysts or urethral strictures. Bad news is I have a very inflamed prostate and urethra. So far I have taken Cipro (two rounds; 10 days and 21 days), Bactrim (14 days), and Flomax throughout all without much benefit. I am supposed to have a semen culture done in a week to see exactly what the bacteria is. My question is if anyone has had a bad case of prostatitis and urithritis and what the outcome was? I had to take 20 days of Cipro for prostate infection. The e coli count was > 100,000. It took 4 or 5 day to take the temperature down and then it was a matter of getting through the 20 days. Right after I got off of Cipro (~2days) I was feeling constipated, A week after (yesterday) I realized my spleen was swollen (first time ever). Wife is a nurse and new where it was located.
