Avatar n tn I started taking Cipro a week ago. 6/5/09. I noticed my energy to be low and my joint and tendons to be stiff and sore. After a day or so of Cipro, my testicle pain was gone and I stopped taking the antibiotics because of the adverse reactions I was having. About 3 days after stopping the medication the pain returned. It is now 6/12/09 and by recommendation of my doctor, I am taking the Cipro again.
Avatar f tn I have had problems in the past from cipro and levaquin.the doctor prescribed them for bronchitis along with predinisone which is a no-no(so i've read)I never knew four years ago that bad things could come from using this medicine.without my knowledge they used these medicines for emergency purposes(I had respiratory failure)in july and now my lungs have recovered but my body is numb, weak and tingly plus I have sore throats.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have never taken Cipro, and I don't have the muscular problems you describe, but when I wake up in the morning I, too, have a big black thing that disappears within a few blinks. I also have lots of swirling lights, thousands of floaters, flashing lights when I blink, shimmery black dots when I move my eyes quickly. And some trouble with glare in bright sunlight. I have had fluoroscein angiograms, mri, and multiple examinations.

Vision problems and joint pain and now cracking are still present.
Avatar f tn The jaw pain is horrible, and I went on an emergency visit to the dentist, no problems there. he felt it might be related and told me to follow up with my primary care physician. I asked my breast surgeon to please put me out on short term, but she wouldn't agree to it, despite the pain, an abcess that has been draining for weeks, and multiple appointments. It is really frustrating and I know it is affecting my job.
Avatar n tn At one point, I had gone to a doctor for stomach problems, and he told me I had a borderline Peptic Ulcer, and put me on Prilosec, which really worked well, and helped control the acid reflux. I was doing some research on this Hyoid Bone, and when you have problems with the acid reflux, it can cause a lot of problems in your throat, which I'm sure you are familar with, and the acid reflux can actually cause tumors in the throat, and they can become cancerous.
Avatar m tn I have had surgery for an umbilical hernia in 2006 with a “patch” put in to strengthen the area around the hernia to prevent future problems. This muscle and joint pain has now been going out for about eight (8) weeks.
Avatar m tn ), I have places that almost look like little healed scars on the head of my penis, and there is some discoloration. I have also been having vision problems, joint problems, and it kinda looks like a blister on my tonsils. I suggested to my doc today that maybe it's an antibiotic resistant strain and he told me to just wait it out because there were no antibiotic resistant strains in Georgia. I think that I should definitely change doctors. Does anyone have any advice?
Avatar n tn I then went to a more progressive ENT in 2005 who did an ethmoidectomy (removed the sinuses from between my eyes)and I really thought my problems were over. My pain and pressure were completely gone and I felt great. Until.....the beginning of the year I started having sinus infection problems with dizzyness and feeling totally lousey. A week and a half ago I was on my 3rd sinus infection when I finally went to a friend who is a Nurse Practitioner and had her culture my sinuses.
Avatar n tn During all of this time I have taken 7 courses of antibiotic (Tequin, Cephalexin, Augmentin twice, doxycycline, cipro IV after septum surgery, and clindamycin which I was taking at the time I went to the emergency room.) My questions are: Have we missed something with my knee to tell us if it is RA or some other kind of arthritis? Are my CBC results connected to my knee problem or should I be looking elsewhere? Perhaps I should tell you also that I am a 49 yr.
Avatar m tn It settles in familiar places but can be the worst in my hip and knees. Prior to that I had never had a joint pain. This week, I can't go to work as I can barely walk. I'm on a strict diet of anti-inflammatory foods and expect to spend 10 minutes to get to the top of my stairs. It's been debilitating. There is no cure for the permanent damage that has been done.
Avatar m tn Usually, Strep. viridans is normal oral, and skin flora (bacteria) and doesn't cause problems unless you have it in a sterile body site such as blood, body fluids (joint fluid ) etc. The strep group B can be found as a sore throat or a normal vaginal flora (except when you are pregnant it can cause problems for the baby) and sterile body sites or wounds. Strep group B may or may not cause a sore throat. If it does it isn't serious but sometimes they treat you for it because of the pain.
Avatar n tn were both treated for chylamydia, no visible syptoms of HPV. In february 08, I had back and some joint pain as well as pain in my penis and testicles, so i went to the doctor and was told i had a prostate infection. he did a urine test to test for chlamydia (since my g/f had been diagnosed in october and we were both treated) and was negative.
Avatar n tn I also had tinnitus as a side effect of cipro. It is extremely frequent. Now it comes and go. I know of people that after taking quinolone antibiotics have suffered pretty badly from tinnitus for some years and then got healed.
Avatar n tn I will quote something I found on the internet: "Cipro (ciprofloxacin) and the other quinolone antibiotics (ofloxacin, etc) are contraindicated in pregnancy for theoretical reasons because of their effects on ADOLESCENT dogs' cartilage (i.e., joint problems). There has never been an adverse effect on HUMANS like this, to my knowledge, and no problems in pregnancy that I am aware of. We still advise against their use in pregnancy, but only for theoretical reasons.
Avatar f tn I had a bad experience on levaquin with the burning head. I had burning fingers and toes and joint pain. Levaquin is a bad antibiotic, atleast for me. I actually took 4 doses in the beginning of january and since then I have had joint pain and a lot of other problems that arent explainable. I called the doctor they told me to stop taking it immediatly and they put me on amoxicillin. I don't go on antibiotics very often, but from now on the only one I will take is amoxicillin.
634590 tn?1293777693 i went to orthopedic and he took some tests. Urine, X-ray and joint ultrasound was normal but ESR was 28 (0-15) and CRP was positive. He said joint is infected. he put me on IV antibiotics (oxidil 1 gram twice a day and augmentin 1.2 gram thrice a day for a week) Then on oral antibiotic for 4 weeks (ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day with calcium and vit d-3 alongwith with naproxin sodium). 2 weeks have been passed and 2 left. Pain is gone. im on bed rest. But when i talk feel pain little bit.
Avatar m tn So the doctor prescribed an additional 2 weeks of Cipro 50mmg twice daily for good measure and had me perform a nuclear renal scan and a CT scan with and without contrast to check for urinary system abnormalities. All results were returned negative... kidneys functioned perfectly and CT showed no abnormalities. He mentioned that sometimes "Beer Drinkers Hydronephrosis" could be causing a backup of urine flow which could be attributable to the prostate issues.

Avatar n tn Our genitals have a special place in our psyches, and unexplained discomfort can be harder to ignore than a painful joint or even a headache. But the principle holds. It's fine to look for harmless things that might help control symptoms. But potentially harmful treatments (e.g., repeated high doses of antibiotics, potent pain controllers) make no sense, and doctor-shopping (or internet shopping) for different answers generally is fruitless.
Avatar n tn i have been diagnosed w/ fibromyalgia but told that it has nothing to do w/ my hand problems and joint stiffness/pain. no drs really know what to tell me. let me know anything you find out, it may help me as well! and make sure to check out my topic below, you may find some usefull info from others.
Avatar n tn stomach nausea so I wasn't eating nothing but chicken broth, water, wheat crackers, jello. sucked big time. And she put me back on Cipro this time for 10 days and they scheduled me for a sonogram of my stomach, liver spleen, etc. that came back w/ a result of a enlarged spleen & I tested positive for EBV @ this point I never even heard of EBV. So it's been almost 4 weeks been through bouts of extreme tiredness and weakness just pass out @ random.
Avatar m tn There have been black box warnings added to the labels of these antibiotics last year regarding tendon ruptures and ligament and joint pain. The tests usually come back negative. The med. community doesn't look for this sort of problem; they just don't acknowledge it. Check out these websites: www.fqresearch.org www.fluoroquinolones.org When they tell you nothing is wrong and that you're crazy, then you'd better start researching it on your own. good luck!
Avatar m tn and the idea that Cipro caused the joint/muscle problems is speculation, of course. Offhand I can't think of a way to test that, unless taking Mg and calcium results in a big improvement.
Avatar m tn She is now on beta blockers which do not seem to be helping. She also has joint pain, numbness in her fingers, fatigue, and is becoming more depressed each day. Her doctors want to just experiment with different medications until we find out what works. The worst symptom is her headache and she does not want to leave the house. We are at our wit's end and want her better. We are considering some alternative treatment such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy and acupuncture.
