Common Questions and Answers about Chronic stress illness

stress

Avatar f tn I have looked on the internet but have not found much relating to how extra stress affects a person who has a chronic illness. they say that prolonged stress can cause these conditions but do not mention the affects once you have the illness. THANK YOU, K.K.
4152590 tn?1350772856 t know how to reduce stress either, because life just simply is stress. I agree with Alex, finding a counsellor who spealizes in chronic illness is very helpful. And some sort of meditation, yoga, or something along those lines help too. Stress can always aggravate sx's and pain, so it is important to find ways to help relax you. I do massage therapy and acupuncture, and see a counsellor.
Avatar f tn Don't want to sound like a broken record but I need help finding info. on how undue stress affects a chronic illness such as fms&cfs. I found some info. on John Hopkins site but it is not enough.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experienced this? I'm an otherwise healthy, 23 year old female. My BMI is 22, I sleep 8 hours per night, I exercise 3 days per week, I eat a healthy and balanced diet and I take vitamin supplements on the advice of my GP. For around the last 12 years, I have suffered from daily bouts of headaches and dizziness. In this time I have been constantly tired, and my shoulders get knotted very easily. I'm not suffering from stress.

Avatar n tn Then in May of 2021, headaches started after an injection in my hip and have been chronic since. My appetite better but no where near normal, have lost 15 lbs. Headaches are daily as is the fatigue and stomach issues. Have no energy but push to be functional. Initially they thought I had Lyme Dx and treated me with amoxillin, with no improvement. Then said I might have long haul Covid, (Never had it ) then 2 infectious dx doctors ruled that out.
Avatar m tn I had testing HIV 1+2 + P24 Ag done at 79 days, 96 days, 113 days. All came back negative. Currently I have chronic insomnia and I feel constant pain inside my right lung and my right chest and it is not getting better and it is causing me headache. Muscle pain, join pain, bone pain. I have dry cough. Lots of sputum daily. I been to x-ray two times in the past 4 months and find nothing. My echo cardiogram (ultra sound for the heart) also showed nothing.
Avatar m tn Hey guys :) (18 Y/O Female) I'm looking for opinions here; I've had a horrible, worsening condition for almost two years now. It impedes everything in my daily life, and I simply cannot take the whole diagnosing process anymore. I've had tests for so many different conditions, but each time everything has came back fine. I honestly have a ridiculous amount of symptoms (some probably not connected) but somehow they don't correlate into an illness that I could possibly have?
572651 tn?1530999357 Hi Lulu! Hope you are feeling well. I recently read a study similar (may even be the same one) where they surmised that the author was thinking that it was the connection to someone who cared and worked with the MS patient that made the difference - not so much the techniques the patient learned to reduce stress. When therapy was stopped, the patients had more lesions - so whatever techniques they were taught didn't seem to carry over as well.
Avatar n tn is the cough a new symptom or is it chronic? how old are they? have they been checked for cystic fibrosis? i would ask the pediatrician about this since.
Avatar f tn Hello, The cause of irregular periods could be due to hormonal imbalance, stress, chronic illness, polycystic ovarian disease, thyroid gland disorders or diseases, pituitary gland tumors or cyst, galactorrhea, prolactinomas etc. You should consult a gynecologist and get examined and investigated as soon as possible to know the exact cause of all these episodes.
Avatar f tn You need to have a diagnosis of some kind in order to apply. Even though you haven't been diagnosed with MS, you could stress a different component of your illness that you are experiencing. For example, I had a friend apply for SSD benefits when she was diagnosed with Chronic Fatige Syndrome, she had to stress the 'depressive part' of her illness to get her benefits. A diagnosis of MS does not itself qualify you for benefits.
640266 tn?1223312964 Two days ago I was feeling a lot of despair about this illness and my struggles in coping with the stress. Just sharing some of the things that have helped me has lifted my spirits tremendously!! It's also helped me to get my mind off myself and think of the needs of others. Thank you to whoever set up this forum. What a great idea!
Avatar f tn Is anyone else pregnant and and suffering from a mental illness. I'm having such a hard time dealing with this, on top of the hormones. I haven't been on meds, and refuse to take any for obvious reasons. How can I take the stress off of the baby?
29837 tn?1414534648 There are two types of stress. Positive stress and negative stress. Stress can be a good thing if its postive. Getting amped up and work keeps you going in a rhythm. Negative stress can alleviated several ways: Autogenic training, strectching, and exercising.
Avatar n tn Does anyone else have a chronic illness and pregnant? How are you dealing with it?
Avatar m tn This increase in glucose provides extra energy to combat the stress of an illness, but in people with diabetes it can cause blood glucose to rise too high, whether or not you are eating.
Avatar m tn t the same thing. Stress has an actual cause, whereas chronic anxiety is a pretty ridiculous illness that often has no discernible cause. Stress can, however, definitely cause your digestive problems, but so can diet, hidden infections, and other things.

Avatar f tn I cleared me of chronic bronchitis, post nasal drip and sinus headaches so quickly as to be unbelievable. It is a supplement and is only on prescription if you need the liquid (for a nebulizer). I experience no side effects and am taking it long term because I have COPD.
Avatar f tn You have provided a nicely detailed description of your illness but I remain uncertain about the relationship between the March illness and your most recent (May 22) illness, if any. That you would have wheeze and cough with each illness suggests that you have either had, 1) two episodes of acute bronchitis or, 2) that you had underlying, not clinically evident, asthma and that the causes of these two episodes (likely infectious) precipitated asthma worsening (cough and wheeze).
