Avatar f tn My 19 year old daughter has had a lot of pain in her right rib area and around to the upper back when taking deep breaths. There is no pain when you touch the area. We went to her doctor and she thought pleurisy, so we went to a pulmonologist who did more x-rays and a ct scan with contrast, as well as a breathing test/lung function test. All came back normal, yet she has had the pain consistently for over a month.
Avatar m tn Two days ago I had a sudden onset of severe pain in my chest ,left to the sternum.I can say the pain is some where aroud the sixth rib, near to the sternum. I can't clearly differentiate the pain, whether it is muscular or in the bone. The pain didn't go away by itself and is persistent from two days.( I was expecting it to be Precordial catch syndrome, which is relieved in few seconds to few minutes and is very common) . The pain exacerbate by over inhaling or exhaling.

Avatar n tn severe pain in right lung except when laying on right side and very painful when inhaling; have fever; and feel some dehydration
Avatar n tn For a few years, I have had mild chest pain here and there in the left side of my chest. It does't get worse with exercise heart rate. I can bike and get to 160 bpm with no increase in pain. jogging tends to make it worse, especially when inhaling. Sometimes it happens at rest, sometimes when I bend over. No other symptoms, had an echo a year ago due to pvc episode from dehydration...no trouble there. I have an annual physical, and the blood work and EKG are always normal. Any opinions?
Avatar m tn Went for an ultrasound today and noticed strange chest pain when they had me hold my breath. It only happens when I hold my breath and I am laying on my right side, and the chest pain is about an inch to the right of my left nipple. Like a stab that intensifies the longer I hold my breath. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Bed rest, drinking plenty of water and hot drinks such as herbal teas are often the best treatments for speeding recovery from chest pain. Inhaling steam can also help to reduce congestion and kill germs on contact – and is particularly beneficial for your age. Antibiotics or pain relievers such as paracetamol may also be prescribed for pain .
Avatar f tn Sometimes when i breathe in normally ill get this terrible stabbing pain that comes out of nowhere. The pain only occurs when inhaling and not exhaling. The only way it goes away is if i take a deep breath which at first causes more and more pain as i breathe deeper. once i hit a certain point of breathing in deeply the pain just disappears. This has happened once in a while for the last few years. its not every day but the pain is certainly intense when it does happen.
Avatar m tn If the pain is heart related, there would not be pain when taking a deep breath. Angina (heart related pain) usually happens when one is exercising or exertion of some sort, and goes away with rest. A lung disorder can stress the heart to work a little harder than normal to get an adequage supply of oxygen into the system and the extra work can enlarge the heart's left ventricle. If and when that happens you will have shortness of breath, fatique, etc.
Avatar m tn The pain is mild and it is not constant. I dont feel pain when sitting watching TV or using the computer or eating. I also feel pain if I intentionally tense the muscles on my right side. Chest X-rays (two of them) have shown that everything is normal. I continued taking Aleve and waiting another 6 weeks (resting, working, no exercise) but the feeling is the same.
Avatar m tn Chest/back pain with inhaling and exhaling is usually due to irritation in the lungs or the linings around the lugs, it's called pleurisy. Heart pain is not usually sharp in nature, it's more of a pressure described as a squeezing or weight on your chest. This sounds more related to your cough than your heart. If you start to experience any other cardiac symptoms like shortness of breath, feeling light headed or dizzy with excessive sweating you should seek medical help.
Avatar f tn Personal Background: I am 26 year old married woman. I quit my job six months ago and have been staying at home lately so no late working hours. I recently (3 weeks) started working out with a personal trainer and go to dance classes occasionally. I do not have any major health issues as such. Question: However since this morning I am suffering from a very sharp chest pain and it has been paining since past 15 hours continuously. It is a sharp pain as if a needle is pricking into my chest.
591312 tn?1218868480 Yesterday I did not feel any chest pain, but I have had this pain earlier this month as well, one time I could not even sleep lying down because my chest hurt each time my heart palpitated. On my previous post I mentioned that the pain was literally as if a needle was progressively going through the heart as I inhaled, and pain relieved progressively as I exhaled. I do not have any injuries in my chest.
Avatar m tn Now I have severe pain when inhaling, so it makes coughing hard and painful. Luckily, I have very little fluid and lungs are clear. I am still able to cough up mucus a few times a day, but was wondering how long this pain will last? It seems to have gotten worse today so that it makes it hard to even walk and/or twist. Not life-threatening for sure, and am otherwise very pleased with my results (minus the constipation!) Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn Symptoms present incapable of inhaling correctly, at rest or exercising. Pulmonary Function test shows normal exhale, abnormal inhale on all charts. Obstruction suspected Chest CT throat CT and bronchoscopy were ordered, no obstruction was found. Developed a visible pulse in epigastric region in July, two months after symptoms began. This is not normal, I can Now see my heart beat through skin 24/7. It Intensifies with exercise.
Avatar f tn i do also get the chest pain when inhaling a deep breath, usually towards the back end of the breath. not scary pain, but uncomfortable, and makes me nervous. i haven't had any heart issues, i smoked for 6 months my freshman year of h.s. so i haven't done that since. any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been a cannabis smoker for about 8 months and have quit for the past 2 months because of this sensitive pain which comes and goes. It isn't sharp to cause intense pain but it causes discomfort. Last month I had an chest x-ray and ECG done, they had no issues, however I lost some inhaling capacity on PFT. The doctor said the pain is probably muscular but she wasn't sure. The pain has reduced since I quit but hasn't not gone completely.

Avatar f tn When I have a number of ectopics close or have an extended amount I can get chest pain. Sometimes the chest pain is short lived other times it can last all day but it is generally gone by morning. Is your chest pain persistent or is it gone in the morning only to come back later in the day? Is it all over pain or does it feel localized? Do you notice if you start to stress out a bit when you start to feel anything odd with the heart?
Avatar m tn For the past 3years, I have been experiencing pain every morning in my chest. Initially I thought there is something wrong with my heart, but after several tests, we concluded it's just muscle pain, the muscle above the bone that protects the heart. Sometimes when I wake up, I actually flex my chest muscles and could hear a "click" sound on my skeletal muscle above my heart. Is there a solution for this? If I exhale or flex my chest muscles I feel this pain.
Avatar f tn A sharp pain that worsens when the person lies down or breathes deeply, decreases when the person sits up and leans forward, and is not related to physical activity suggests pericarditis. Pain increased by inhaling deeply can also be caused by pleuritis. A sudden sharp, excruciating pain in the back of the neck, between the shoulder blades, down the back, or in the abdomen that begins fairly quickly may be due to an aortic dissection.
Avatar m tn ( I was expecting it to be Precordial catch syndrome, which is relieved in few seconds to few minutes and is very common) . The pain exacerbate by over inhaling or exhaling. The pain is more intense when trying to bend too forward or lying on my stomach. I have no pain in my jaw or anywhere in my left arm or shoulder. I am not feeling sick or fatigued. There is no sign of fever, cold or chill.I don't have constipation, diarrhea, or any other stomach upset or pain.
