Avatar n tn If you temperature keeps fluctuating, going up and down, you may have an infection which may be a bacterial or a viral one. It is still worth making an appointment to see your doctor to check you out. If the doctor feels it is a bacterial infection, you will get prescribed with an antibiotic. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Avatar n tn I have not had a lumbar puncture or any imaging. I am now having some lower back pain and chest pain when taking deep breaths. I spoke with my doctor and she is not sure what to do with me so has not taken any of this further and is sending me to ID. When I was away, I did have malaria twice that I know of and was sick another time but was unable to seek medical attention. I was working on a research project in both countries.
Avatar m tn After 60 days, severe stabbing pain on my right eye, nose pain, lower jaw pain and severe headache lasted for 1 week. Following this,2 white spots on my tonsil and white patches on the back of throat for 9 MONTHS NOW, there's no discomfort/pain . Impact on family: ============= 1 month after exposure, accidentally i burst laughing on his face. One day i was checking the lesion in my mouth and turned on the light, immediately my child turned it off and placed fingers in mouth.
Avatar f tn There is very little to do for a viral infection except monitoring, rest and vitamin C. Ant-viral meds are ocasionally used, but the literature regarding their efficacy is inconclusive. Every once in a while there is a bacterial infection, which will generally be acompanied by a fever. In such a case anti-biotics are used. Yes, this could be relayed to your viral infection called a "cold", which is caused by a virus.
Avatar m tn If your mucus is discoloured like dark yellow to dark green and you get it by coughing then you have a bad infection in your chest. The pain is probably due to the coughing and the irritation of the infection and inflammation. If the mucus feels like its coming from the base of your chest then it suggests that the infection is quiet low down your respiratory tract.
Avatar f tn Ive got a bad chest infection.
Avatar f tn If your doctor said you have pleurisy, that is inflammation of the lining of the lungs and chest. It is often a sign of a viral infection of the lungs. With anti inflamatory meds and REST might help... I felt the same way only that i had the fluid around my heart and it needed to be drained. I wish you well, but i would follow up with the doctor, possibly a lung and heart doctor. if it does not get better within 5 days of starting the anti infalamtory meds.
Avatar f tn I have been having an knawing ache/pain in left side of chest. Some days it is all day and some days it is hardly there. I do have some respiratory problems that are seasonal. Just wondering if anyone with asthma has this?

Avatar f tn I'm still suffering from a viral infection which gave me typical cold symptoms with pain in my right shoulder and neck , a swollen sore throat and a productive chesty cough. After two weeks I was prescribed, over the phone, Doxycycline antibiotics which haven't helped. It's been three weeks now and I'm still coughing up mucus and have been told I have infection in the base of my lungs. I couldn't say if the mucus was clear or had blood in it as I'd been swallowing it.
Avatar m tn Is it a classic case for one sided arm clumsiness (feeling of swelling in shoulder etc) to develop 5 days after the start of a viral infection which caused swolen lymph nodes, fever, sinus infection, congested chest, and body pains? Does this likely indicate a nerve infection? The right arm is also the side of my C-spine which has moderate spondylosis around C-5 but has never affected my arm before (only mild-moderate neck pain). Does this sound the most likely answer to my condition?
Avatar n tn so far, all you have told me is that you have some chest pain, fatigue and occasional cough. These symptoms are most consistent with some type of bronchitis. It may due to your history of smoking, however, most likely it started with a minor infection (viral) and now you are having hard time recovering from it. some people get reactive airway disease after viral infections. At this point I would say that you should probably hava a chest xray to rule out pneumonia.
Avatar n tn 8 Celsius and right now my chest hurts and the inside feels like it itches. What should I do? Is it because the infection has traveled? or the chest pain is because of the spreading infection?
Avatar n tn Hi, 4 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with viral myocarditis after being admitted to the hospital for chest pain, fainting, vomitting and fatigue. I had a history of respiratory infection, conjunctivitus, colds, etc in the months leading up to this. I had an angiogram because of positive triponin, and that showed a reduced EF of approx 40%.
Avatar m tn I have had a persistent cold. Started out as a sinus infection then it became a sore throat (just like strep) with a high fever which lasted 3 days. I saw the doc and she gave me Amoxycillin for 7 days. It then eased but worked its way down to my chest and had l some build up of fluid in the lungs and as a result i was constantly coughing and trying to get it out. It has been going on now for over 7 weeks and will not completely go.
Avatar n tn He has lost 12 pounds, has been in and out of the hospital and each time is diagnosed with a viral infection. I was curious what your thoughts are in regards to the symptoms he has been experiencing. It all started after a work out at the gym. He was driving home and felt as if he was going to pass out. The drive home took 45 minutes when it should have only took 20. He said he kept getting lost.
Avatar m tn About two days ago I came down with a throat infection and completely lost my voice, this was followed by some sort of chest infection. I've already had one this year and had about two last year, so I know what they're like. But this one is slightly different, I never normally cough loads with chest infections, but when I have sometimes my phlegm would be slightly brown this time, or be a green colour with a little streak of blood in it, not just the normal green that I'm used to.
Avatar m tn The most dominant symptom for the previous few months is a heat type pain in my chest and abdomen with chest pain. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn I contracted a bad case of flu and a chest infection at the beginning of march this year. I've never been the same since then. My symptoms come and go but my breathlessness remains constant every day throughout the day. Was given an albuterol inhaler to help with the breathlessness which I hated and it never worked either.
Avatar f tn Costochondritis commonly occurs with viral respiratory infections because of the inflammation of the area from the viral infection itself, or from straining from coughing. Bacterial: Costochondritis may occur after surgery and be caused by bacterial infections. Fungal: Fungal infections are rare causes of costochondritis.
Avatar m tn I'm sick for 8 MONTHS. 26 years old male. My ESR is 45. I'm HIV negative. Pain in lymph nodes (neck, ear, jaw, armpit, chest). My head feels like I have very bad case of flu. Black under my eyes. I was diagnosed with "viral infection". I was given many antibiotics and last time I was given broad spectrum antibiotics. Crixan 500mg, Levofloxacin 500mg. Since then pain in lymph nodes little bit decreased. My head feels still the same, almost like drunk.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.

Avatar f tn •Costochondritis is also considered as a possible diagnosis for adults who have chest pain. Chest pain in adults is considered a potentially serious sign of a heart problem by most doctors until proven otherwise. Chest pain in adults usually leads to a battery of tests to rule out heart attack and heart disease. If those tests are normal and your physical exam is consistent with costochondritis, your doctor will diagnose costochondritis as the cause of your chest pain.
