I am a 19 yo white female who has been experiancing excrutiating chest and right arm pain after sneezing. The pain starts in my upper chest, very similar to the pain experianced when one has a brochoncial infection and has been coughing for a long time. It racks around my chest cavity and is a very sharp, prolonged pain. The pain also moves down my right arm, stopping usually before it goes into my palm.

Yes is like a sharp pain, my happens by my hip bone (kinda) on the right... good luck ladys, now we know that is part of the 13-14 weeks...

When I feel a sneeze coming on (which is often with this head cold), I have to basically hold my sides and pull my knees up to my chest. If I don't, I'm in extreme agony and sometimes end up in tears.

I always have awful pain in my back when coughing or sneezing. It drives me nuts! That's why I do everything in my power to stay clear of colds, etc. With me, it has to do with a herniated lumbar disk. Do you have something like that? If not, I wonder if there's something going on in your lungs. I know sometimes the pain in the lungs can feel like its coming from the back. I lived with the pain for 2 weeks, sneezing or coughing caused excrutiating pain. With followup another EKG was completed with no changes noted. At this point that intense pain has been relieved, but my left upper chest feels numb and when I lean forward I get an intense, burning, stabbing pain in my left chest area. Sneezing still hurts but not nearly as bad. Should I have major concern or would this still be part of the healing?? Suggestions?

Sometimes even simple things like the smell of perfume and dust causes sneezing. Also once the sneezing starts it goes on continuously till i take some anti allergy medicines like cetzine.This has been going on for the past 10-12 year. Hi, if you do not have symptoms of breathlessness or chest pain, you don't have to worry. It could be muscle strain and should settle with time. So, dont worry and if painful, you can use OTC Acetaminophen for relief from pain. Take care. Regards.

thank you factorymomma for clearing that up! i was reading and thinking someone had to stop the madness! i don't understand why you would resist a sneeze at all? its not like its impolite to sneeze or anything. not only that but they are so satisfying when you do! they actually say that sneezing is close to a tiny orgasm! i always figure you are sneezing for a reason. i don't understand why you would hold them back every time.

Another possibility could be a pinched nerve in the chest, along one of your ribs. This type usually occurs after a fit of coughing or a blow to the chest. Finally, this pain could be due to a nerve being pinched, where it comes out of the spinal canal. X-rays of the spine can usually give a clue to this cause.

ve had seasonal allergies my whole life and I have definitely become sore in my chest and abdomen from sneezing/coughing. If allergy treatments don't work, you can also try a humidifier. Like mentioned, stuffy noses are common during pregnancy, and the coughing could be from the air in your home being very dry. A humidifier might help.

I. I'm 68 an have been on vikes for quite some time.3-4 yrs. I'm on not just for the heck of it but just had some back surgery that did not totally work right. Also have a totally blown shoulder. OK so I'm full of questions today. This is the first chance I've had to do much of anything. As I said in my other post I'm 6 days postpartum today. You girls know I've had that sinus/chest crud for a couple of weeks. It seems a LOT Better now, especially the sinus thing but once in awhile, usually at night my chest gets really tight and then I have a huge coughing fit as all the crud starts to break up. I usually have to use my albuterol inhaler to help open things up.

Since last two months i have pain right below and behind my right breast, it never goes even with a gel or pain killer. As the burping sensation increases it produces a terrible pain in my chest and radiates to my back, then goes away when the burping sensation subsides. Sneezing also puts a strain in all the painful areas mentioned. Please help.
