Avatar n tn I am sixteen years old. I am an asthmatic, although it rarely troubles me and I use my inhaler on a very rare basis. I have been on and off sick with the flu and I'm relatively sure I haven't recovered one hundred percent. However, lately I have begun to feel a significant tightness of my chest - to the point where it's panicking. There is also pain in the left side of my chest and the sensation of pins and needles.

Avatar n tn Any sort of chest pain should be evaluated by a doctor. It could be something like your back out of alignment or a pinched nerve. Could also be something to do with your heart or meds. If the pain is really bad go to the ER. Get it checked out.
Avatar m tn Hi. There are many things that cause chest pain, and not all chest pain is cardiac. But ANY chest pain needs to be taken seriously and should be checked by a doctor. With having dizziness and sweats, I think you should go to the ER immediately. If you won't do that, at least call your doctor first thing in the morning. And you definitely could have brought on heart disease by smoking and binge drinking. I'm a smoker myself, so I understand how hard it is to quit.
Avatar m tn everything you have written on here tells me that. True heart related chest pain is not located on one side or the other on the chest. Pain, if you are having it while resting or sitting in a chair, that is heart related would be caused by a very severe form of heart disease, which would have easily shown up on an EKG. The numbness could be a neck issue. Have you considered seeing a nuerologist? A gastroenterologist? You might want to consider seeing one or both of those two specialists.
Avatar f tn If you have been a smoker for 19 long years then it is commendable that you have quit smoking. Cough and chest pain can be the withdrawal effects of quitting. However any chest pain in smokers—past or current should immediately be investigated. It can be due to pleural effusion, inflammation, lung cancer or due to a clot or embolus. Rebound increase in blood pressure too could be the cause. Please do not delay, and seek medical care immediately. Take care!
1309556 tn?1274282092 Chest pain can originate from chest wall (bone, muscle or skin), esophagus, heart, lungs, tissue linings surrounding the lungs (the inflammation of which is known as pleurisy or pleuritis). Avatar m tn Hi, i've been having chest pain on and off everyday for the past 6 days. It seems to start shortly after i get up to start my day and continues throughout the entire day. It's very uncomfortable to say the least. A good while back i was having the same problem everyday for many months, almost everyday, and i went to the doctor to have a catscan on the chest and ultrasound as well for any other problems and nothing ever came back as abnormal.
Avatar m tn I have been smoking on and off since i was thirteen. But even before i was smoking I would have chest pains in the center of my chest while exercising. Now since I've started smoking, the pain just comes and goes when i take deep breaths or get up fast. It's not a severe pain, more like a discomfort. I have told my doctor about it, they did a stress test and everything. I had the chest pains but they didn't see anything wrong with my pulse.
Avatar f tn Many are not aware that smoking also may produce chest pain. Smoking increases the heart rate, blood pressure and work load upon the heart. If there is pre-existing coronary artery disease, but with adequate blood flow at rest, the increased work produced by smoking, as well as the increase in concentration of carbon monoxide carried by the blood in place of oxygen, may be enough to produce chest pain.

Avatar n tn All I think I have done is hurt myself more and now I have shoulder pain, some back pain (all on the right side, same as the chest pain). I do have a bit of shortness of breath but I think it is mostly brought on by anxiety as when I am not thinking about my breathing I am fine - it is only when I start panicking or think about breathing does the shortness of breath seem to appear. Today I also experienced a cold back when I got up. I thought I was going crazy.
1180004 tn?1264466754 My symptoms are chest pain, it sometimes moves to my arm but then goes away I get so scared but everyone tells me its nothing just heartburn but does heartburn really stay with you everyday all the time? Ok so it hurts but its a pain that i can stand but its just irritaing not knowing what is wrong. When I was younger and when i would go to the doctors office they would tell me i have high blood preasure and i would start to control it but sometimes it would get high anyway.
Avatar f tn com/heart-disease/heart-disease-angina However, It is most likely inflammation of the bronchi which is very common and why many people have chest pain after giving up smoking. However, it is really best to be examined by a doctor to make sure. Your lungs are going back to normal if you will and many people do have some chest discomfort after smoking. See your doctor to be safe but am very pleased to read that you are no longer smoking. Keep up the good work!
Avatar n tn Hi, This sounds very serious, mainly because of the chest pain. The shortness of breath and chest pain could be from coronary heart disease, which is a build-up of plaque in your arteries. Coronary artery disease develops as a result of damage to the blood vessels caused by smoking. The most common symptoms of coronary artery disease include chest pain that feels like pressure or squeezing and shortness of breath. This also could potentially be the initial signs of a heart attack.
