My patients are noticing my discomfort and that concerns me because patients should not worry about their techs.
Avatar m tn I'm a 28 year old HS spanish teacher. I have been have pain in my left chest and left arm for some time now but the pains have been increasing in frequency, duration and severity. It started with just a pain in my chest and has recently spread to my left arm. The pains occur at all hours whether I am at rest or excerzising. I am at an unhealthy weight of 293lbs at 5'10". The last time my vitals were taken (last week 9/8/10) My Resting BPM was 61, my blood pressure was around 132/80.
Avatar f tn The symptom isn't due to any heart issue as inspiration should cause chest pain or any chest discomfort. However, that doesn't rule out your having a heart issue concomitant with another medical concern. Is your heart rate normal at rest? Do you know your blood pressure? I'm not sure how a thyroid gland removed effects the body system, and whether or not that can be the underlying cause, but the matter should be discussed with your health care provider.
Avatar m tn Most lung or chest wall pain, which includes the ribs, muscles, cartilage, etc, occurs with inspiration as does classic pleurisy. Still, the pain you describe is worrisome and calls for further investigation. I wonder about the diagnosis of chronic bronchitis “most of my life”. If it began in childhood, for example, and especially if it is not related to cigarette smoking, it may not be chronic bronchitis, but rather some other type of chronic lung disease, including asthma.
Avatar n tn Please can you help me, my partner has been (rushed) admitted into hospital with raised diaphragm on the left lung (2 weeks ago), this has caused shortness of breath and severe pain....hospital have said they dont know what caused it and are just goign to continue to prescribe anti inflamatries.even though diaphormine was given by seringe and that barley took pain away..,also they are sending him home when the cause of problem remains un ressolved...
Avatar m tn for a few months I have had worsening sense of deep chest pain very central below breast bone. I feel it when I deep breah (on the inspiration mostly) and when I hunch forward and sometimes lying flat on my back. because it is so deep I think it is either at the spine or the back muscles. That, plus since it seems positional, I'm assuming it is muscular in nature, bad posture maybe.
Avatar m tn I also get left arm pain but not when i am having the chest pains(usually about 2 to 5 minutes after). I have had 2 stress echo's, a Cardiac CT, and numerous ekg's. All were excellent(except for the PAC's). Coronary arteries were in pristine condition. No pain upon exertion. Always at rest. Only twice while at sleep(unless i am sleeping thru pain, which is unlikely as i am a light sleeper). I can not reproduce the pain by twisting, turning, contorting, lifting.
Avatar f tn Dear Summer, Without evaluating you, I cannot tell you what the cause of your chest pain is. I also cannot say if the leg pain is related, or not. I can say that most pediatric and adolescent chest pain that is sharp and worse with inspiration is typically noncardiac chest wall pain. We don't know what causes it, but it's mostly a nuisance and not associated with any disease process. You are 18 now, so you are at age of majority.
1326222 tn?1274879331 While playing softball last week, I collided with a fellow player while running after a fly ball. His head collided with my left side of my chest. I didn't feel anything after it happened, but not now the pain is substantial behind my left pectoral. It hurts a little when I touch the area, but when I sneeze/cough or take a deep breath the pain is severe. It has been one week since this happened and it doesn't feel like it is getting any better.
Avatar n tn In fact, a significant reason for the heart appearing enlarged on a chest X-ray is poor X-ray technique, meaning that the film was shot without the patient taking in a full inspiration. If the picture is less than a full inspiration, it can fool the reader into thinking that the heart is enlarged. I would recommend that you have your primary care provider look at the film and help to put the study results into context of the rest of the history and examination of your daughter.
Avatar f tn I want to give all of you some inspiration. I have been on prescribed meds for around 4 years. Opiates/Fentanyl. Finally, I decided to get off of them on Dec 13. Not easy, nothing you ever want to do is easy. Nothing ever comes without a little pain. I went through hell for about three weeks. The Holidays were tough, I admit it. Withdrawal was tough, not going to lie to anyone. My original pain is still with me by the minute. However, daily, it gets better.
Avatar m tn I need much more, including how long it lasts, is it sharp or dull, how severe is it, is it worse with inspiration, and a lot of other questions. Therefore, as far as your chest pain goes, I would definitely have your primary care provider go through this evaluation with you and make sure that the history is reassuring. I can say that the vast majority of chest pain in children and teenagers is not due to the heart, BUT that doesn’t mean that they all aren’t, so do get it checked out.
Avatar m tn Chest pain that occurs within a few hours after eating is usually a gastrointestinal problem. GERD and H Pylori bacteria come to mind. Both mimic a heart attack.

Avatar f tn I saw a neurologist for dizziness, fatigue, paresthesia in extremities. I was ordered an MRI which showed small white spots in frontal cortex only without contrast. Blood tests showed ANA 1:640 and Anticariolipin IgM (+) 27. I have had joint pain in wrist, hands, and back as well as chest pain on inspiration for years. RA (-) as well as XRay's of joints/chest. No rash or fevers, the fatigue is unbearable.I just saw rheumatologist who dx me with antiphospholipid antibody syndrome.
Avatar f tn right rib discomfort, sharp right rib pain, sharp right chest pain, and also the sensation where I cannot get my breath, like something sitting on my rib cage. Also when I am walking for exercise sometimes I get to the point where I cannot catch my breath. Sometimes also after going to bed at night, I will notice that I cannot breathe in and out with a full inspiration/expiration. I think many have different kinds of hugs. I think there is something in the Health Pages as well.

I learn something everyday, that helps me when I'm having a bad day. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
1116472 tn?1260075052 Today I feel better. Physically, No, but spiritually YES. Someone on here was helpful enough to provide me with a phone number. The number i called was unable to help me, they were out of funds and had already enlisted all the angel tree children for the year. However, after i told her my story and was completely honest, She became very empathetic. We ran down a list of options and numbers, and each number and option could not help.
1551327 tn?1514045867 As I started the trip back I put on a motivational song and started my trip. Along the way there is a hill that is very fun to go down but painful to go up. I usually stop and have to push the bike about half way up....don't tell anybody. It hit me again today and I was mentally reaching up for motivation as if I was drowning and wanted to come up for air. The music wasn't working, my legs were killing me, and I always stopped before so why not?
Avatar n tn ve been having chest pains from time to time but on top of the ribcage, in other words where my chest muscles are. I had pain a week or two ago on my right side, and then on my left side. Today I had these pains which are sharp and last about a second or two, like a poking in the middle, and then a bit more to the right. I was short of breath however I believe it was due to just being anxious and scared. When i started reading some related articles the short of breathness stopped slowly.
631640 tn?1264419173 Hey, so for as long as I know, I've had this weird problem with my chest. I'm not sure if I ever broke the rib or anything, but one rib on the right side of my chest sticks out further in front then the others. It's not really noticeable when you look at it, but if you touch my chest it's pretty obvious. It doesn't hurt all the time, just randomly it'll start up, but my chest is really sensitive to umm... blunt force?
937650 tn?1314276749 After that while swimming you develped some chest infection/injury to your muscles, ligaments in the chest which is causing pain. As any small injury here, you do not get rest as the whole chest moves with inspiration and expiration. Stop worrying and go to a chest specialist and have an X-ray done. If everything comes fine, continue not smoking, eat healthy food, take enough rest and lead a stress less life. Take care!
Avatar m tn The sound usually begins as a single pop in the center of my chest and occurs at late-inspiration, and sometimes one or more pops follow it, at varied areas across my chest. Sometimes I sense that the sounds come more from my throat, and when this happens, it is usually when I exhale rather than inhale. The sounds on inspiration are usually coming more from my chest.
617141 tn?1225706428 about 3 days ago, i think i strained my left arm and chest muscles. first there was pain in my left shoulder and arm. soon it spread through my chest. i thought it was heart pain. had extreme trouble with breathing. last night was spent in pure agony i thought i was going to die. the x ray was clear and so was the ECG. doc says it's just a pulled muscle. brufen eases the pain for some hours but at night it gets painful. i can't breathe deeply it hurts too much. what am i supposed to do?
