3072999 tn?1356414732 Hi Tink, I am actually a medical coder for a hospital -the ICD-10 code would be G93.5. The ICD-9 code is 384.4. Since ICD-9 is not very specific they may have put a I after to show it is a Chiari Malformation type 1. In ICD-10 it is more specific - G93.5 states Chiari Malformation 1. So I am assuming since the ICD-9 code of 384.4 just states compression of brain they had to add a 1 so it was more specific for their notes.
Avatar f tn 070.51 is the ICD-9-CM code for Acute hepatitis C without mention of hepatic coma. B17.10 – Acute hepatitis C without hepatic coma is the ICD-10 code. In the overall scheme of things ultimately the only person who really cares about those codes is the one processing your health insurance claim. The code might have been on your receipt from the doctor's office or your EOB (Explanation of Benefits).
Avatar m tn t talked to him yet as he is not in his office currently but this has me worried. Did he make a mistake and use the wrong ICD code or could this code also apply to the condition that I was diagnosed with. Thank you.
967168 tn?1477584489 My mom always warned me about this, especially when it comes to life or health insurance. She insisted that if I go to a doc for anything, if they do not formally diagnose an issue don't let it get on your file. I never knew why until I had a run in because of it. I went to a doc 4 or 5 years ago for a peristant cough. He asked me to try advair based solely on my complaint of a persistant cough. he listened to my lungs, no issues.
Avatar f tn hi My name is Poornima and I am 26 yrs old. Last year i went on with the ICD operation in my left side of lungs as doctors found that I was suffering from pneumothorax. I am not an asthmatic or a cold prone person since that ICD operation. Even doctors couldn't predict abt why I got that pneumothorax in this age that too for a female. But my father underwent the same ICD operation 2 years before. But doctors say that its not a genetic oriented disease.
Avatar f tn 426.9 conduction disorder, unspecified what does that mean? dangerous?

Avatar f tn I had an ICD put in 1 1/2 years ago, I'm still experiencing pain and tenderness in my chest and simple task such as folding clothes causes a lot of strain and pressure on my left arm. I was told at the device check clinic that this is normal. I was wondering if anyone else with an ICD has these issues?
Avatar n tn 428.22 is the ICD diagnosis code for your condition. It simply means that the pumping action of your heart is reduced or impared. Did you get any feedback from your doctor concerning your Ejection fraction (EF%) ? Was this diagnosed on a stress test and if so what were the other findings. Let us know so we can better help you.
Avatar m tn I did see the doctor this week and am scheduled for the biventricular icd. I didn't know if surgery was an option to repair this type of heart failure but it isn't. My ef is 35. He isn't sure what is causing the chest pain. I will keep you posted.
3246377 tn?1347519440 I've had an ICD for a couple of years, and yes there is a scar about 3 inches long, on my left chest, and the ICD sits just under the skin. It's about the size of a flip phone, and because I'm real thin, it does stick up about 1/2 inch. I've never been shocked, but I've heard it's like being kicked by a mule. However, after it was installed and set especially for me, my EF went from 15% to above 40%, and my heart paces on it's own about 99.
967168 tn?1477584489 Not sure if they're the same, but the doc has to put down an ICD-9 code on their "super bill" to get reimbursed by insurance. I'm not saying he'd make something up but will get as close as he can on the ICD-9 code. Don't read too much into it. Ask your doctor to clarify, don't be afraid to ask these questions.
378497 tn?1232143585 Is there an ICD-9 code for "cervical demyelinating myelopathy"?
Avatar f tn Mine is in my abdomen and have never had any problems. Did he say if the problem is with the ICD itself or the leads ? Some ICD`s in the past have been recalled and many people have had problems with the leads. you may want to try icdsupportgroup.org they have a lot of knowledge when it comes to ICD questions.
Avatar f tn This might be a right bundle branch conduction delay, ie a conduction disorder of some unspecified type (check the ICD code), although whether that would be a real worry is also unspecified. 2. The note says that there is a normal echo. This is not the same thing as an ecg. So it does not follow that the ecg is normal because the echo is normal. 3. The note is not validated by the input of a physician, nor subsequently by your individual assessment of the physician and his diagnosis.
Avatar m tn My EF is 36.6 and have a difficult time sleeping, even with 4 pillows because my chest hurts with pain. Any recommendation on how to help with my sleeping issues. Also my cardio Doc wants to put me back on to a beta-blocker which i just cannot tolerate, what other medicine can be recommended and is Digoxin med safe to take......
Avatar f tn My mother has an ICD and it has gone off a total of 27 times in the last few days. She's only 62. There is not a problem with the device, she just keeps going into Vtach, but she can't be sustained in a normal rhythm. If a normal rhythm doesn't come back, is it just cruel to keep the device firing. Even in a full code patient would you shock them externally this many times without a sustained change in heart rhythm? I just don't want to make her suffer for nothing.
Avatar m tn Having just had a ICD (defibrillator) implanted in my left chest/clavicle area a week ago I'm just wondering how long it's taken others for the implant location to heal and how long I can expect left shoulder/chest pain? I realize about not lifting my left arm above my head or lifting anything over 10 pounds but how long can I expect this soreness to last? I'm already dreading the replacement in 8 years or so! Sleeping seems to be the hardest part of all this.
Avatar m tn I have had an ICD implanted, Node ablation, and Im taking meds. I still have chest pain, palpatations, and still I tend to be prone to fainting, tired all the time. Whats next? How long do I have to live like this? Is a transplant the next step and if it is, do I simply have to wait until these symptoms get so bad that I am on life support? Where the heck do I go from here?
967168 tn?1477584489 Can you tell me what the "gold" standard of diagnosing HOCM or Obstructed Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy is? I've been reading about it and it seems to be a very difficult disease to diagnose. Can it cause Polymorphic VT episodes? I had several tests that showed I had many problems which have gone unexplained and local doctors have not been able to find the answers.
