Common Questions and Answers about Chest pain causes

chest

Avatar n tn ve had some pain in my upper left and right chest area at different times and not lasting long. The pain is not bad and it doesn't last long and it is usually accompanied with belching or gas. I also have a history of asthma too. Any idea of what might be causing this pain since initial test seem to rule out cardiac problems. No one in my family has a history of cardiac problems either.
Avatar m tn Hello, Any chest pain is cardiac in origin unless proved otherwise. Chest pain can happen because of gastrointestinal causes like GERD, esophageal spasm, peptic ulcer disease, psychogenic like anxiety and depression, neuromusculoskeletal like thoracic outlet syndrome and costochondritis, pulmonary like pulmonary embolism and involvement of pleura and cardiac causes. EKG, stress test and Stress echo need to be done to rule out any cardiac cause.
Avatar n tn Three causes of chest pain that traditional docs are not aware of ; one is allergies, either airborn or food. the second is the neurotoxin acetaldehyde from yeast overgrowth in the body. the third is oxalates in the diet which causes all kinds of pains , burnings, twinges. I have had experience with all three and have changed my diet and lifestyle.
Avatar n tn A respiratory problem can cause pain when breathing due to blood clots in the pulmonary vessel and or the lungs....that condition causes chest pain. Nevertheless, Emily is correct, and hopefully the information provides an insight that will enable you to discuss the issues in consultation with your doctor. Even if the pain subsides you should still contact your doctor to rule out any damage and/or a condtion that may only be in remission.
Avatar f tn Another possibility that can explain the pain is pericarditis. It causes chest pain aggravated by laughing yawning and deep breathing and also causes radiation of pain to arms. Again an EKG, heat echo and chest X-ray is required. Do consult a doctor and get this examined. Take care!
Avatar f tn This is commonly referred to as the rotator cuff disorder. This can cause referred pain to the chest. The pain can also be due to other causes like cervical rib, cervical spondylosis or disc prolapse. A simple x-ray will help and an orthopaedician can guide you. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn They even said I could start an exercise program I was looking at. My problem is I still am having very non specific chest pain and arm pain. It is sometimes in both my arms and sometimes in my armpits. Sometimes I have sharp pain in the middle of my chest and sometimes my neck and underjaw ache. I know my stress echo was normal but could this be my heart or should I look into other causes for my pain? Just don't feel myself and don't know how reliable the 2nd stress test is.

237053 tn?1258828426 For the last few days I've developed intermittant chest pain (left side) right where my heart it. It isn't severe, just kinda achy. It comes and goes, but I'm kinda concerned about it. I'm having it right now accompanied with air hunger. Very uncomfortable. Does anyone else get this? What causes it? I'm going in this morning to see dr and will be interested to see what she says. How can they deny that I am clearly having problems?
Avatar f tn i am stressed alot of the time over simple things so could it be stress thats causing the pain?the pain is centre of my chest and slightly over to the left. always in the same place.
Avatar m tn Hello, Since most the major causes of such chest pain have been ruled out, so we have to look at the minor ones. From your symptoms, the possibilities of a muscular pain and costochondritis need to be ruled out. Costochondritis is an inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone or sternum. Anemia and thyroid diseases(hyperthyroidism)can also cause chest pain. There is no specific test or investigation for costochondritis.
Avatar m tn Well, I get a dull kind of a pain in the right hand side of my chest. The same pain occurs when I turn my neck too. It is kind-of on and off. 5 years back I had a stent inserted in my right coronary artery. I'm a smoker even now and smoke quite heavily - say 40-50 cigs a day. What could it be?

1158461 tn?1262614392 In my opinion it is time to have a good clinical work up to determine what is causing your chest pains. There are multiple factors that could account for chest pain but I cannot even venture a guess with the little information you have provided. Please make an appt with your PCP and address your concerns. We will look forward to your updates. Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn A bone island should not be anything to worry about and would not require treatment. Possible causes of your symptoms include chest wall inflammation, pleuritis, causes related to the GI or respiratory tract etc. You could consider seeing an internist for evaluation of your chest pain. After a cause is identified it can be managed accordingly. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
