i have COPD and have had lung infections at least 4 times in this past year. I quit smoking 4 weeks ago and am feeling better already, but, I still have this pain to my upper back, pain appears to be from deep within. I sleep on a heating pad for releaf. what could be the cause?

I feel congested in my throat & upper chest area, & my upper back hurts a bit, and there is shortness of breath..
What could it be.
Anytime there is chest pain present it can be alarming due to the possibility of cardiac problems. But, in your case, I would lean toward respiratory or gastro-intestinal issues. The persistent cough, along with the possible presence of lingering congestion, could be causing your upper airways and throat to be inflamed and sore. Also, there could be a possibility of a hiatal hernia. Frequent or hard coughing is a risk factor. I hope that you will consider seeing a physician. Good luck.
I have had many symptoms of Pnemonia, recently including a cough, chest pain, upper back pain, shortness of breath, shoulder and neck pain, and congestion. I have had a cough and chest pain for months now. I was given antibiotics, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I am young and have had no prior issues, but this is making it hard to complete daily tasks. Could it be Pnemonia or something else?
What it feels like is the chronic post nasal drip I have has caused congestion in my upper chest. However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better.
30 weeks along and have a cough for about 2 weeks. My upper back and chest hurt so bad and about a hour and a half ago I leaned up against the wall and I.think I pulled something in my upper back cuz now I can bairly move it hurts so bad at points I cant breath and all I can do is cry. I have this tightness in my chest i kno its mucus but i dont have a cough or cold it hurts when i try to take a deep breath ive never had chest congestion before im not coughing up blood or anything like that. ive been using my asthma pump because when i was younger i had trouble with asthma it helps clearing my airways so i can breath easier but it comes back after awhile. what could be sinus infection, chest congestion and upper body aches, such as in neck, upper arms, shoulders and shoulder blades, for 4 solid months? It started with chest congestion and coughing, then expanded into sinus', ears, throat, and then added constant neck and shoulder pain. I went to the family dr. 3 times with in 4 weeks. He gave me antibiotics, and cortisteroids, decongestants, depo shots and antibiotic shots. I had a chest xray that came back clear.
About 6 weeks ago I started to get pain in my back. The pain is located under my left scapula (shoulder blade??). It kind of feels like a pinched never type pain. Soon after pain, I started to feel tightness in my chest. It is difficult to explain the tightness. It is not tightness caused by congestion. If feels like my chest is heavy or the muscles are laboring more to suck air into my lungs.
Today the pain in the back feels more like a burning sensation.
I too experience the same thing depending on the style of bra I wear. I am big busted (38D). When I take my bra off it feels like an elephant sitting on my upper chest for the first 15 minutes. I do have mild asthma and take medication daily for that, I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. Let me know what you find out. It is very annoying.
This is an ongoing problem that was present when this began. Then I felt a funny tickling sensation in right lung (upper part of lung) which started congestion developing (with a bit of wheezing). I had a slight cough at first which went away but the congestion is still there. I am not coughing so I have to push it out by deep throat clearing. The mucus coming from chest is a creamy pale green.
when i am lying i feel like i m choking(not severe, just discomfort). I sometimes have little pain in chest . Also i have upper abdominal pain too but mild pain. But after i fall asleep i don't have any discomfort and i don't wake up in the middle of night. I may have GERD. not sure. I get a pain in my upper back that spreads around to my chest. Sometimes it lasts about 15 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes. It feels as if I have been stabbed in the back and it comes through my chest. I am experiencing this intermittent pain that, the best way i can describe it, is that it is deep in my chest and I feel it in my back. but not on my surface back, like deep inside my chest towards the back. it is not heavy but light and it comes and goes and it is extremely annoying. I dont know what it is...the best way i can describe it is that it feels like that achy feeling you have in your back when you ate too much but feel something stuck in your upper back..
I have a few hernation in my throacic spine mid back when it first happened that's what my doctor said twisted my mid back finally went to different doctor did MRI had guess what it wasn't a twisted back and yes the pain wraps in my chest and ribs I hope it isn't anything like mine
Day 4- chills and aches went away, no night sweat, no fever, but dry cough, sore throat, sneezing and chest congestion; Day 5- chills came back, had another night sweat (my neck, chest, and upper back were drenched), minor sore throat, dry cough and congestion. Day 6-Day 13- lingering dry cough. On Day 10- I went to the doctor and he prescribed me antibiotics for the cough. It has been a week since Day 13 and all symptoms have subsided with the exception of some congestion in my throat.
Symptoms start with headache followed by congestion in my nose, nasal dripping in back of throat and chest congestion. The congestion builds to the point where I can't talk or difficult for people to understand me. When I call the doctor he prescribes a 7 day course of antibiotic and I am better for about 30 to 45 days. I work with pulmonary doctor who sees me for asthma and I use Advair 500/50 along with Allegra D and Singulair and I do regular sinus rinses.
My uncle has severe Alzheimer's and has been in a rapid decline for quite a while. While listening to his chest the other day with just an ear against it, there was a very distinctive watery gushy sound, and at one point it actually sounded as if a bubble had literally burst. It was loud enough to make his wife back away from his chest. He isn't having any breathing problems and is in no pain. This sounded serious to me.
