I have had chest congestion for a week. I also have gotten a headache a couple times. Bad Coughing at night. I'm 35 1/2weeks pregnant. I've been taking robitissin cough and congestion and Tylenol. It helps but it's still here. Should I see/call my ob/gyn or see a regular physician?
A couple of days ago, I contract something outside and the next day, I began having serious chills, stuffy nose, chest feeling stuffy, etc. Then the next day, it got worse (and yes, I took medicine for flu/cold) with coughing up (I'm presuming) some bloody mucus several times (it's more like a rust color), dry coughing mostly, severe chest congestion (Robatusson {sp?} doesn't work), and severe congestion in my nose.
What it feels like is the chronic post nasal drip I have has caused congestion in my upper chest. However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better.
For about a year now I have had a cough and chest congestion, my doctor has switched my asthma medications several times thinking that might be the reason for my cough and congestion, she's tried many different types of allery medications, I have been to the pulmonologist, had a chest x-ray and nothing was found, but the cough and congestion I still have.
I have severe chest congestion. This has been going on for about 3 months. It's strange because I will have constant congestion and cough one day and the next day I will be almost clear. I know that if I have congestion one day the next day I will not. I plan my days accordingly. My dr. has put me on antiboitics and presidone twice in the last 3 months, I've had a chest x-ray last week, shows nothing. I have had allergies all my life.
I have this tightness in my chest i kno its mucus but i dont have a cough or cold it hurts when i try to take a deep breath ive never had chest congestion before im not coughing up blood or anything like that. ive been using my asthma pump because when i was younger i had trouble with asthma it helps clearing my airways so i can breath easier but it comes back after awhile. I had chest congestion and mucus for weeks. The coughing would also cause pain. I finally got put on zpack too because nothing over the counter was helping. I would see your doctor. In addition to Tylenol though I was told robitussin and plain sudafed were ok to take as well. Maybe those will help you, unfortunately I needed more help than that!

You are right in saying that steam inhalation is beneficial in rhinitis. Along with steam inhalation, you can take nonsedating antihistamines like cetirizine (Zyrtec) or loratadine (Claritin).Moreover decongestants and topical decongestants may help in reducing congestion of the nose.
Vapo rub and keep my head slightly elevated.
I use to stand In a a shower with the hot water on full blast (not running on me just hitting the wall) and the steam would loosen all the congestion then just blow your nose really good when you get out and use vicks
Until u can see a dr for pain you can take Tylenol, for ur throat chloriseptic, nose congestion saline nose spray, cough and chest congestion robitussin. Also get in a warm steamy shower and if you can find them get something called shower soothers. Its made by vicks. You put it in the shower and the water melts it and releases vapors. (Cvs carries them for sure) benadryl and sudafed can be taken as well for runny nose. good luck and get well.
I started to develop cold like symptoms, running nose, chest congestion, mild headaches, thought it would pass so I went out to do fall activities with friends in the cold, the cold got worse. I finally went to a doctor, he gave me antibiotics. At the time I just had yellowish, brown phlegm and mild headaches and tiredness.
About a week later, I still felt crappy so I went back. This time I had HORRIBLE migraines frequently then turned into everyday, phlegm still around.
My son is nearing the end of Hyper-Cvad-R chemo for Burkitts and seems to always have a runny nose, just clear fluid. No congestion it appears. Could this be from the chemo maybe stripping out the the cell lining or cilia inside his nose? Just curious. It seems like when he eats hot food his nose really starts running. If the secretions where too thick to break up before you took the antibiotic, then the medicine is working, it is breaking that congestion up, which will rattle more in your chest and you will cough more to get the serections out. Try taking OTC guaifenesin this will help with the thinning of secretions and make it easier to cough up the mucus that is in your lungs. Also drink plenty of water. If you dont feel better soon take to your md, also make sure your not running any fever.
I been having coughing, chest congestion, nasal congestion and coughing up nasty stuff (mucus) ewww. What can I take or what can I do to fight this bug? Because I feel hopeless.

When i do activities like basketball, skateboarding or biking, running, etc, after a short while my chest will start to hurt, it'll be harder to breathe and ill get all congested feeling in my chest and cough. Usually when i push myself to keep going, ill end up hacking away, coughing a lot and stuff. Im kinda used to it so i usually just keep going and ignore it all, but i've had a few times where i feel like im gonna choke or pass out.
Plus, I wake up in the morning and my chest is congested. Sometimes when I first get up, it hurts to take a deep breath, as if it would hurt when you inhale water. My 4 year old has developed a pretty nasty cough for the past 3 days, and everything I have in my house doesn't seem to be helping him. I have tried Triaminic Cold and Cough, which didnt work, and then Robitussin DM for cough and chest congestion, which isn't working either. He can't take childrens mucinex because it makes him vomit.
Do any of you mommies know what I can possibly try that can help his cough? He isn't running a fever, or have any other symptoms.
