Chest congestion post nasal drip

Common Questions and Answers about Chest congestion post nasal drip

chest

Avatar f tn What it feels like is the chronic post nasal drip I have has caused congestion in my upper chest. However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better.
Avatar f tn I'm 14 weeks and the congestion in my nose is terrible. The post nasal drip is making me nauseous! I don't have morning sickness anymore just never ending headaches! When does the congestion usually go away? If it does!!
Avatar n tn In September, came down with horrific sinus infection that I attempted to treat over the counter, with poor results. Had lingering congestion and post nasal drip and pain in my head and rear base of neck. No fever except for first day of infection. Congestion and pain in my chest lasted for 6 weeks. Doctor gave steriod shot and z pack. 21 days later congestion returned, new antibiotic and flonaise prescibed. No fever as i check everyday.
Avatar f tn Two days later, I was still coughing--post nasal drip. I had finished all the meds so I bought some more Mucinex and started that again. In another 2 days I was still had post nasal drep so I started Claritin. I have been taking the Mucinex and Claritin for a week now and still can't get rid of the post nasal drip. I sleep with a humidifier on and do the "steam breathing" about 1-2 times a day. I am worse in the morning and evening, but I still have the post nasal drip.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering for four weeks now with post nasal congestion and post nasal drip. I first went to the doctors and was diagnosed with sinus infection and was given antibiotics for 5 days. It got better but gave me a UTI and stomach cramps then when antibiotics were done the congestion and drip was back with the UTI. I was then given 10 days of antibiotics for sinus infection and another antibiotic for UTI. The UTI got better but the congestion stayed.
Avatar n tn I have had post-nasal drip/chronic sinusitis/chronic bronchitis for all my very long life. I used to get 2 or three coughs a year that lasted for weeks, sometimes ending in pleurisy. I went to doctors, and eventually had to diagnose my problem myself: my sinuses were dripping down my throat and becoming infected and causing the cough. Eventually I had a CTscan of my sinuses and the official diagnosis: Chronic sinusitis.
Avatar n tn Alot of us with GERD can trace it to post nasal drip.......sometimes we r unaware of this issue and just know we have the GERD.......but, it can rear it's head from time to time and appear to be a cold.... Try using a saline nasal spray to see if that helps. ALso ask ur dr if this is a possibility for u.
Avatar n tn To give brief history, I suffer from sinusitis(frequent nose congestion) and post nasal drip(irrespective of any weather condition). Couple of year back this thing had started and took medications for eosinophilia which bought things to normal. Currently under no medication. This time I’ve been suffering from the pain for almost a month. I’d like to have advise regarding tests that could be taken(blood or imaging) and what could be the aliment considering highlighted symptoms. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Background: I'm a 30yr old Indian born male living in London from past 6yrs. I’m a 69kg fit person and I workout a lot (probably 5-6 times a week) with no medical conditions. (Although I’ve had a sinus operation about 15 years ago, not sure if that is relevant). History: Since last 1.5 years (from May/June-2010) I have had hacking cough and skin urticaria (dermatographism). Following were some symptoms I had in July/Aug-2010: - Bad taste early morning.
Avatar m tn Maxillary polyps can increase nasal congestion and contribute to post-nasal drip thus causing an issue with a persistent cough in the throat. I would recommend consulting an ENT Specialist.
Avatar f tn Has a CT scan of your sinuses been done? Do you have any symptoms of post nasal drip or associated cough too? Have you taken antihistmaine or antiallergic medications like loratadine for your symptoms? Have they helped? You should try some steam inhalation, saline nasal drops and see if it helps with your symptoms. If your symptoms still persist, it would be best to consult an ENT specialist for your symptoms. Let us know if you have any other doubts and post us about how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Mucus from the nasal cavity drains and accumulates in the area around the vocal cords, which becomes the site of relative obstruction. Recent nasal congestion, post-nasal drip, coughing that is independent of activity and becomes worse when laying on one’s back, and a relative lack of shortness of breath are often found on history. On examination, a physician may find an inflamed nose, mucus in the throat, tender sinuses, and clear lungs.
Avatar f tn I forgot to ask what does it mean when your turbanites are like a purple color. I"m not sure if the ENT I saw was thorough. I know I have inflamed turbanites and I went there initially to see if I had an infection. He advised I didn't need to take any antibiotics but just to use a nasal steriod and f/u with allergist. Which is what I was going to do anyway. But just wanted a second opinion. I've been having post nasal drip for about 3 weeks, headaches for a week.
Avatar m tn okay ive had post nasal drip very badly for like 11 weeks right now ive only started to go doctors last week or 2 but i cant eat properly i mean during the day i feel nauseous i feel as though something mucus is jst congesting in my throat it puts me off food i cant eat food if i eat it makes me feel more nausous like i cant eat from 65kgs i am now 59.4 in 2 weeks ive been put on rhinocort but do u think nasonex is better ?
Avatar m tn It can also cause post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I've been battling a persistent cough from hay fever for almost a week along with sinus drainage (post-nasal drip) and mild chest congestion. I've been treating it with allergy medication that you have to ask for at the pharmacy, the kind that has the 2 meds in them, loratadine and pseudoephedrine. In an effort to fight off the post nasal drip, I did some research and found that to kill the post-nasal drip from allergies, try the Flonase allergy spray.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm a 27 year old female and I have now had a sore throat for 3 weeks. My symptoms initially began as a cold with chest congestion, extreme throat pain, fatigue, and a fever for the first two days. Almost all of those symptoms went away within one week and now I'm left with the sore throat. I also have post nasal drip so I'm wondering if this is causing the pain. The pain seems to get worse in the evening or in cold temperatures. It hurts to talk also.
Avatar f tn I have no cough but do feel a little congestion on the right side. I have terrible allergies...nasal passages are always swollen and I have bad post nasal drip. I have AFib and am going to have an ablation on Monday. I am so full of anxiety and worry...and shame regarding the smoking. They set me up an appt to have it rescanned in August...should it be sooner? Also I do not think that that the cardiac CT covers the whole lung field. What if thee are more problems not seen on scan?
Avatar f tn Hi, sorry I am just seeing your post. That had to be driving you nuts, I hate post nasal drip and when it is sticky? Ugh. I'm a big fan of Mucinex until it is gone as it keeps it thinner and less annoying or able to get trapped and fester into an infection. So, keep that in mind next time. Is it better now? If not, I'd suggest a neti pot. This is also called nasal lavage as well. It basically uses a little pot to clean out your sinuses. My husband swears by it!
Avatar f tn I got covid 5 weeks ago and recovered within 8 days but the post nasal drip is still lingering with minor one sided stuffy nose on and off. The post nasal drip seems like it drips less at times and more other times so it is also on and off but doesn't seem to go away. When there is a lot I would cough and sometimes it would coat my throat or get stuck there and I have to clear my throat constantly or try to hack it up by coughing. It is annoying and miserable.
Avatar f tn Hi, repetitive sneezing and nasal congestion with a post nasal drip and cough could be due to vasomotor rhinitis, in which the symptoms occur in response to a trigger, like eating spicy food or going outside in the cold. The primary treatment is simply avoiding the things that trigger your symptoms. It is often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlorpheniramine and loratadine are effective. Nasal decongestant drops too relieve congestion.
Avatar m tn Unlike the colds of the past, where the symptoms almost always would be a massive sore throat that would last for a couple of days, followed by nasal congestion, post nasal drip, yellow and green mucus drainage, and that incessant cough, this year has seen all the above along with chest congestion. It's hard to sleep at night, because the chest congestion builds up and I have to get up and cough my head off to get all the congestion out.
Avatar m tn It then moved away from those symptoms and turned into nasal congestion and post-nasal drip, also had persistent cough and yellow mucus was still being coughed up, just didnt feel as deep as before. Here are some photos I took of my throat. I can manipulate the uvula and throat which allowed me to capture some of these pictures.
