Avatar n tn Have had chest congestion and mucus draining down my throat periodically for last couple of years. At some point I lose my voice as well. Is this an allergy? This discussion is related to chronic sinus congestion, plugged ears, chest congestion, coughing.
Avatar n tn I hope you are getting some relief from your chest congestion. Mucus is like poison to the lungs and it must be released for both the sake of your health and your comfort! A natural mucokinetic is found in salt therapy. You should either breathe in the steam from a saline solution with your head tented over a bowl (the economic alternative) or check out the salt pipe inhalers (dry salt inhalation therapy) at: http://www.saltrocks.

Avatar n tn I have had a chest congestion for over 3 months. I feel OK but I've had a cough that sounds like I have liquid in my lungs. I've been to the doctor 3 times. 1st time they gave me antobiotics. 2nd time they gave me a different antibiotics, some steriod and 2 different inhalers 3rd time a chest xray and more antobiotics. Nothing has helped. The cough is worse in the morning, but is still bad throughout the day at times. I'm 39,not overwieght, reasonably healthy and I don't have any alergies.
Avatar f tn I can constantly feel accumulation of mucus in my airway and upper chest. I feel like I am choking on mucus, it wears me out. I have been getting these visual migraines every day/bright zigzag light in my vision and dull headache which last 30-40 mins. No chest pain with the cough. I am wearing a Miami-J collar pretty much all the time and no neck or arm pain like before. I am doing all the normal things for a congested cough and cold. OTC meds, fluids, etc.
Avatar f tn I have a constant Nasal drip.
Avatar n tn This can cause chest tightness and chest congestion to the point of coughing up phlegm. A nasal wash helps remove mucus and bacteria from the nose and sinuses. This can temporarily reduce the postnasal drip and make it easier to breath. A prescription nasal steroid spray decreases nasal swelling and mucus production. This may prevent the postnasal drip and chest problems. To get the most out of a nasal steroid spray use it after doing a nasal wash.
Avatar n tn Hi i am a 39 year old former moderate smoker(20 years) About a year ago i came down with a very congested chest which produced yellow mucus in the mornings and breathing problems.I immediatly quit smoking and went to my GP,i was given antibiotics a few times but symptoms did not improve.Eventually i was refered to a pulmonary doctor who carried out following tests.
Avatar f tn After being on Copaxone for 3 months I developed difficulty breathing and severe chest congestion and it will not go away even after taking broad spectrum antibiotics. My dr. denies any connection with Copaxone. But it is the only thing that has changed in my life - taking Copaxone injections. Has anyone heard of a link.
Avatar n tn Post-nasal drip (PND) occurs when excessive mucus is produced by the sinuses. The excess mucus accumulates in the throat or back of the nose. It can be caused by rhinitis, sinusitis, or laryngopharyngeal acid reflux. The acid reflux in your case can be responsible for the post nasal drip. Eat small nutritious meals at frequent intervals instead of a heavy single meal. Exercise frequently and take your dinner atleast 2 hrs prior to bedtime. Also raise the head end of the bed by 2 blocks.
Avatar n tn It started off as a minor sore throat, nothing that really bothered me and a bit of a stuffy nose. Within two days both of those were replaced with chest congestion, tightness, and a wet cough producing green phlegm. Now its been about 5 days of wheezing and this cough i can feel the congestion deep down in my lungs. When i breathe i can feel the phlegm and mucus and i wheeze when i exhale. It is usually worse at night before i go to sleep. Im not quite sure If i should go see my doctor.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have excessive mucous or congestion inmy throat that I feel needs to come up. Are there any suggestions to get rid of this. Nothing seems to be helping. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn This past week, I have been experiencing chest congestion and coughing up greenish phlegm but have no cold symptoms. Am asthmatic but has been under control for many years. Even though still taking Singulair and Advair daily, have been having shortness of breath and am very tired. Am also using Proventil which I rarely use and it's barely making a difference. Even something as simple as turning from side to side in bed is leaving me breathless.
Avatar n tn When I do I feel a wheezing in my low throat and I begin to cough, but I am not coughing up any mucus. I have been to a Dr. and he has me on an antibiotic and suposedly something for congestion. He said I have a sinus infection, but this is the third week I've been sick like this and I'm just not getting better.
Avatar n tn i have had a cough for quite some time, i feel like im strangling on the phlem in my throat..
Avatar n tn Started with classic bronchitis symptome... sore throat, nasal congestion - yellow mucus, hoarse voice, frequent dry cough-note:about the same time I cleaned my mothers basement and porch which was FULL of dust and very damp and nasty. I spent about an hour down there. Saw my GP the day I got back and he said there was a virus going around. Two days later I woke up in the middle of the night with a deep whining-wheezing-gurgling sound in my chest.
6753624 tn?1389389867 I'm coughing and having alot of mucus build up and a slight headache! What can I take to get rid of this? I'm really tired and can't get any rest because I have 2 other children at home with me! I feel like I have no energy at all!
1271927 tn?1310583962 I can't eat today because it's making a sucktion tunnel and my ears are popping when I try to eat - oh, and because my nose is stuffy I can't breathe when I eat! I can hardly get any of the mucus out and when I do, it's only a tiny bit of clear stuff. Today it's so bad and I couldn't be more miserable with it. I've tried the saline spray and afrin. My nose is so stuffy that it all just runs right back out.
Avatar m tn I ended up taking two antibiotics which ultimately cleared up the infection and green mucus, however not the constant cough, chest and nasal congestion. The mucus is clear and sometimes loose and other times I will cough it up and it seems to be chunky. I use my albuterol inhaler often due to not being able to breathe with the cough and congestion, I constantly feel that my chest is tight. I have also taken 2 more antibiotics hoping it would clear up but it has not.
Avatar f tn Did 2 complete antibiotic regemes... finally had a chest xray since I was still coughing and the doc cough hear congestion in both sides of mylungs. Three weeks later and I still have this night wheezing and sensation in the lower lungs which is loud enough to wake me... and my husband. Eventually, I cough and cough and sometimes produce a "plug" of mucus. This gives me relief and I can sleep. But the wheezing returns...
Avatar n tn The same is true for lung congestion, a feeling that can be experienced with a great variety of lung diseases, infectious and non-infectious. Lung congestion of several weeks duration definitely warrants a chest X-ray. Anxiety is not uncommonly associated with chest discomfort, a feeling that one won't be able to breathe, with hyperventilation and with the feeling of a lump in the throat.
