Avatar m tn If your mucus is discoloured like dark yellow to dark green and you get it by coughing then you have a bad infection in your chest. The pain is probably due to the coughing and the irritation of the infection and inflammation. If the mucus feels like its coming from the base of your chest then it suggests that the infection is quiet low down your respiratory tract.
Avatar f tn What it feels like is the chronic post nasal drip I have has caused congestion in my upper chest. However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better.

Avatar n tn For about a year now I have had a cough and chest congestion, my doctor has switched my asthma medications several times thinking that might be the reason for my cough and congestion, she's tried many different types of allery medications, I have been to the pulmonologist, had a chest x-ray and nothing was found, but the cough and congestion I still have.
Avatar f tn s strange because I will have constant congestion and cough one day and the next day I will be almost clear. I know that if I have congestion one day the next day I will not. I plan my days accordingly. My dr. has put me on antiboitics and presidone twice in the last 3 months, I've had a chest x-ray last week, shows nothing. I have had allergies all my life. What I really don't understand is the on again off again cycle. Please help!

203342 tn?1328737207 My mom has had really bad chest congestion and coughing for about 3 weeks now. She also has some chest tightness. She sounded terrible today when I called her. I'm worried because she had 3 stints put in her heart about 3 years ago and has heart disease. Could the chest congestion have anything to do with her heart? I'm just a little worried about her and wondered. Thanks for any info on this.

Avatar f tn After eating certain foods I get quite a bit of mucus build-up in my lungs and find myself coughing a lot after meals. I'm 17 years old and don't think this is due to acid reflux as I don't have any other symptoms and am quite young. I notice it immediately after I finish eating (not sure if it actually starts during eating as I'm not really focused on how my chest feels while eating). Does anyone have any idea of what this may be?

Avatar f tn I have had many symptoms of Pnemonia, recently including a cough, chest pain, upper back pain, shortness of breath, shoulder and neck pain, and congestion. I am young and have had no prior issues, but this is making it hard to complete daily tasks. Could it be Pnemonia or something else?
Avatar m tn I just moved to Denver from Chicago. Right before we left, I could tell I had a sinus infection, as I have a long history of sinus issues. I also have stomach issues, history of a couple ulcers. A couple of ENT's have told me I have obvious signs of GERD, though I don't often have indigestion, sometimes I can taste acid in the morning. Anyway, I saw a doc when I arrived in Denver and she gave me Biaxin for the sinus infection. Only it doesn't seem to have cleared up.
