Common Questions and Answers about Chest cold laryngitis

chest

Avatar f tn I have had a chest, sinus cold going on four weeks now with intermittent laryngitis. I have been on a course of Levaquin 2 weeks ago and am still sick. Prior to this cold I had another cold and was on a Z pac, can't seem to get any better... Never had a fever, just productive cough raising green phlegm.. Should I be working about my immune system at this point?
Avatar f tn Joy, right around 22 weeks or so I got horribly sick with a head cold that turned into some type of chest cold. I feel your pain. It must have lasted for two weeks. My ob told me about mucinex and also did you know that you can take claratin. Claratin and tylenol can be taken at the same time although the tylenol only seems to help with the fever and nothing else. I also did two sinus washes. You can buy those at any drug store for about $6 to $15 depending on the brand and number of packets.
Avatar f tn I just finished taking Azithromycin yesterday for what must of been a bacterial infection of my sinuses and lungs. It started as a cold. The cold went away but I was experiencing shortness of breath and post nasal drip that just wasn't subsiding. I went to two doctors. The first doctor prescribed a corticosteroid nasal spray (Omnaris). This helped a bit for the post nasal drip but wasn't addressing the shortness of breath or chronic cough that wasn't going away on its own.
Avatar f tn I wasn’t coughing or had any symptoms of being sick but my body felt as if I had the cold. I still had the popping in the throat and it felt as if someone was choking me. There was a lot of tension in my neck that also traveled down to the upper area of my chest and down my shoulders into my arms. I also started feeling pressure in my sinuses which I think made my neck feel worse. I felt sick for little over a week and towards the end I began to have dry coughs and clearing of the throat.
Avatar f tn I have had a series of symptoms going on 3 weeks, from a nasal drip, to mucus, laryngitis, to now a deep chest couph. Am on amoxicillin but it doesn't seem to be helping. My chest has this "gurgling". Any help. Getting tired of being sick.
Avatar f tn My symptoms initially began as a cold with chest congestion, extreme throat pain, fatigue, and a fever for the first two days. Almost all of those symptoms went away within one week and now I'm left with the sore throat. I also have post nasal drip so I'm wondering if this is causing the pain. The pain seems to get worse in the evening or in cold temperatures. It hurts to talk also.
Avatar f tn i saw an ent doctor and he listened to my chest and inspected my ear, nose, throat. he said i have laryngitis possibly caused by lpr (but i have taken reflux medication & diet in the past with no luck).
Avatar f tn Every time I am getting over a cold I end up with a persistent tickle way down in the back of my throat that coughing does nothing for. When I feel the tickle starting I try everything I can to stop it such as clearing my throat, coughing, drinking lots of water and so on but nothing stops it. It seems that only after having a very embarrassing coughing fit where I sometimes strain to breathe followed by a bout of sneezes is the the only thing to stop the tickle.
3120463 tn?1342056817 I have been having cold symptoms for two weeks this Friday. It started out as a scratchy/sore throat, then turned into me almost losing my voice (laryngitis), then back to a sore throat, and now it's a hacking cough with mucus in my throat and a little sinus congestion. Would you recommend I see a doctor? It's showing no signs of letting up and I am unable to hear out of my left ear from the congestion.
Avatar f tn I'm 24 weeks and I have a bad cold and cough. What medicine was ok for u to take or have u taken while pregnant that will not hurt the baby?????
Avatar f tn I had a bad cold and then got laryngitis. That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??

Avatar m tn I had a unprotected sex about 3 and half weeks back with an unknown Girl for about 5 mins. Next day I got mouth infection ( just soar throat no fever no flu symptoms) and doctor (ENT) suggested some antibiotics, after which I was feeling OK in a day. I thought it was a strep and asked for a swab test. Couple days later doctor confirmed its nothing. I had tonsillitis (swollen tonsils) before I had sex with her.
Avatar n tn I HAVE HAD A BAD COUGH FOR MORE THEN 2 MONTHS NOW AND IT MAKES ME HAVE BAD CHEST PAINS AND I ALSO COUGH UP BLOOD AT TIMES WHAT COULD IT BE?
Avatar n tn Yesterday for the very first time I felt a very strange burning in my neck and upper chest. Then my voice became extremely hoarse and it took much effort to speak. This lasted for about two hours and then the symptoms left.
Avatar m tn For the past three months, I have had chest and sinus congestion, manifesting itself in hacking/coughing, wheezing, and expectorating thick yellow (various shades) mucus. I "sound" like I have a cold, but I don't. No other symptons have been present. Two regimens of antibiotics have proven to be ineffective. I am using daily the generic equivalent of Flonase, am also taking an antihistamine, Advair, and doing nasal irrigation with a neti pot.
Avatar f tn Okay, since 1992 I have had lots of throat infections in 1995 I had my tonsils and adanoids removed to help however it never did. And still had aleast 7 throat infections and laryngitis a year but since January this year I have had 20suvere throat infections all with laryngitis.
Avatar f tn For example, GERD can present as repeated regurgitation, nausea, heartburn, coughing, laryngitis, or respiratory problems like wheezing, asthma, ... digestive.niddk.nih.
Avatar n tn However, a side effect of both medications is laryngitis. I recently had laryngitis for 6 weeks. It started as a virus and would not go a way. I decided it was my atrovent neb (an anticholinergic like Spiriva). My allergist thought it was my Dulera (inhaled combination med like Advair). I eliminated the atrovent and reduced my Dulera and the laryngitis healed. She needs to discus any changes in dosage with her doctor before making changes.
Avatar f tn My son did just get over viral laryngitis that turned to bacterial laryngitis. He was treat with a Ceftin type drug for 14 days. He also to 60mg of steriod for 3 days, could not talk for 9 days. During this he was checked by an ENT. Yes, he has only been seen by Neuro. He had a sinus xray last year and a CAT Scan, 11-08. All were clear. He had an MRI in 11-09 when hospitalized for migraine, we went in level 8, left at level 6 apin level. That time torodol iv push worked.

Avatar f tn It lasted about a week or two. It was at the height of my symptoms. I was not sick with a cold or anything. All my symptoms were neurological. I also was diagnosed with ON and EXTREMELY fatigued. I couldn't hold a chair, my hair dryer and when I took a shower I had to lay on my bed for nearly 45 minutes until I felt better. Hope you feel better soon. I still have a lot of residual issues and some new symptoms. My "meltdown" started in October, the worst in early/mid November.

Avatar m tn Every time I drink Tea (whether it is hot or warm) I get first a pain in my chest, almost directly between my breasts, but then also pain in my abdomen area. I have no clue what this is and don't want to go to a doctor if its something that just takes a couple days to go away. If you have any ideas please help!
Avatar m tn Next morning my voice was gone, then after maybe 2 days passed it came back then days or weeks later cant really remember i noticed a cough that lasted forever maybe 2 months, i had mucus also. I Remember getting chills like bein hot and cold this happend one day or two days and chills never came back. I had a headache one night and thats it. My cough was my main thing i noticed usually coming in the morning or night. With mucus and mostly a dry cough.
Avatar m tn s the easiest thing in the world for me to get a cold. I normally (for many years) run a low normal (or just below low normal) white blood cell count. Lab work otherwise is always great. I have had the flu a few times over the past 20 years, the last known time about 3 years ago when I picked it up from one of my grand kids who obviously had it when he visited us. The bout I had then was so severe I realized for the first time how people die from this stuff.
