cellcept and itp

I am considering just staying on Prednizone for a little while longer and getting pregnant, and then going on cellcept. I have been on cellcept one week tomorrow, and think it would not be too late to discontinue (after talking to my doctor again) since I am also still on 40mg of prednizone every day. Do you have any opinions about cellcept and pregnancy?

I see ou wrote this a while back but I am hoping you are still here and will see my question. I am supposed to start taking Cellcept for Lupus and I can't find anyone who can tell me anything about how they did on it. Are you there? Did you have any side effects while on it?

I take Cellcept for 2 and a half year. How long will last taking of this medicine because my hair and stomack can't stand it any more?

bad taste in mouth, aches and pains with muscles and joints, diarrhea, and headache. No fever or nausea. Am I just complaining or should I take more seriously. I had blood drawn today. My next appointment with my transplant team is june 15.

I take Cellcept and only Cellcept. I've been on it now for over a month. My MS doctor prescribed it for my PPMS since there's really no treatment for PPMS. I haven't had any side effects from it. When I first started on it, I did get some headaches but nothing I couldn't handle. In my case, I take it to hopefully slow down the progression of my particular form of this disease. I once read about an early researcher who transfused himself with blood from a patient with ITP and he himself developed ITP. In ITP the body creates antibodies which consume the platelets shortly after they are made and the body is in constant overburdened platelet production. That is the immune type, which I have, anyway. The antibodies in the blood sample must have caused his body to produce these antibodies on it's own.

Kathy, Back in 2003 I was found to have low platelets and sent to a Hemotoligist who dianosed ITP. I had all kinds of test run(including bone marrow biopsy) He never tested me for Hep C even though low platelets is a symptom. Three years later my new primary care Dr. thought that my liver enzymes were a little high and sent off a hep c test and it was positive. My liver specialist thinks that I never had ITP (an autoimmune disease) I was misdianosed.

Till two weeks back she was on PanGraaf 4mg, Wysolone (steroid) 15mg and CellCept 1000 mg a day. At that time (i.e. two weeks back) her blood result showed that her TLC has slipped to below normal (which is minimum 4) and was showing as 2.8. Her Haemoglobin seems to have settled around 11.2. All other results including Blood, LFT, Creatine etc show normal. Doctor reduced her CellCept to 500 mg (from 1000mg) and increased PanGraaf to 5 mg (from 4mg) and Wysolone (steroid) to 12.5mg (from 15 mg).

After a upper respiratory infection last month I have been having someone more weaknesses and even a slight breathing problem at times, so he wants to put me on Cellcept. The problem is Cellcept can cause Lymphoma and other side effects and infection risk,. I want to get off Prednisone due to weight gain and creeping up hypertension and the Mestinin digestive problems are a real pain.

I have been diagnosed with CIDP, and have gone through the "normal" protocol.. prednisone, IvIG, plasmapheresis, with no real help. My neurologist now suggests therapy with cytoxan or cellcept. He is "saving" the stem cell/bone marrow transplant as a last resort. I have read all of the info on both drugs and the risk/benefit for each.

The good news is about 70 to 80% of patients with ITP respond to prednisone therapy and splenectomy (removal of the spleen).

i am 15 years old and i have chronic itp so it could be an unknown symptom from itp but i have had itp for almost 9 years now and this is the first time this has happened. i am guessing that the "boogers" are a mixture of puss and blood so it could also be a bladder infection or something. i have also felt the need to urinate more frequently but all in all i urinate the same amount of urine as before, only over more times. can anyone help me?

) So I went home and did some research, read about ITP and TTP, and thought maybe it was just due to being pregnant that they were low. No biggie for the time being, right? WRONG. All day yesterday, I had a pain under my arm, which I thought was my underwire from my bra cutting into my skin. Upon further investigation, I realized it's not from that, it is a swollen lymph node. I haven't had a swollen node under my arm since I was about 12 yrs old.

I am on 5 mg of prednisone and cellcept as well. Can I ask why you stopped taking the cellcept? My Dr is trying to lower me off of the prednisone all together and just stay on the cellcept. I was on 10 mg of pred 4 weeks ago, down to 7.5 mg 2 weeks ago and just got reduced to 5 mg. My numbers are staying in great shape, but I am still holding steady on the cellcept. I have been battling AIH for a year and a half. Nothing has worked w/the prednisone accept for cellcept.

My four year old niece was in a car accident, after which she had a full blood count taken, and was then diagnosed with ITP; i'ts now six weeks later, and she has lost vision in one eye. The doctors are not yet sure what has caused this and if it wil be permanent. Prior to this loss of vision, her mother noticed that her eye became very red (her child would also rub the eye a lot), and a day later the redness in the eye went away, though the eye colour darkened considerably.

She did clear the virus and has had negative RNA since. In June, 2008 she developed ITP which is Immune Thormbocytopenia. It is an auto-immune disorder where her body is destroying its platelets. I know there can be a relationship between Hep C & ITP, but her doctor didn't think there would be a connection almost 9 years after treatment.

These have all been coming and going every day along with a temp that just before taking my CellCept will be around 99.2 - 99.6. After taking my medication my temp drops to my normal 96.6 - 97.4 temp range. So I guess that means the CellCept is suppressing my immune system? LOL.

I have had ITP and it is in remission. I want to have the hair on my top lip removed by lazer. Will this present risk to my health and starting up the ITP again or the bleeding that goes along with ITP?

Hi my name is Heather I've had itp for 4 going on 5 years and yes it can before I knew I had itp my period almost killed me my pallets dropped down to 3 and I was bleeding out through my menstrual I ended going into the hospital just in time and having to receive blood and ivig because it was bad now that I'm aware that I have ITP there are precautions I take you can speak to your daughters doctor about birth control and as well as taking a medication called lysteda to control the bleedi

Right now my doc is tring Cellcept. The jury is still out. But I have been on steroids, Plaquenil, Arava, Methotrexate and now Cellcept.

I hate to ask my doctors the question of this taking my life and how soon. I am on prednisone that we are weaning off and Cellcept 3000 mg per day. It was considered in the mild to moderate stages, but the docs are not sure how this should be treated. no studies have been done on this and am kinda in limbo....
