Common Questions and Answers about Celexa and muscle pain

celexa

Avatar n tn 55am, I forgot I took the celexa and I took Cyclobenzaprine. Do you think is something I should be worry? I looked online about the drug interaction and they say could be deadly. I am very worry. Any advice of what I can do? Do I gonna be okay? How long apart I can take those two medications?
1166402 tn?1303847056 I've looked up muscle pain and Celexa but could not find any info. I would like to know more about this so I can talk to my doc. I was starting to think I might have Fibromyalgia. But all the symptoms aren't there. Can I still feel all this (and some twiching-not much though) even when I feel normal. I had forgotten I had anxiety and then felt a twitch or was reminded by muscle pains and then off I go thinking about it all.
Avatar n tn If I get your story right, you were on Celexa for 10 years and started recently to ween off of it per your doc's instructions. Then you got ill and he prescribed something. Thereafter, the anxiety came back. So, if this is correct...it sounds to me that you didn't gradually stop Celexa but rather did an immediate hault with it. When you got the flu, the shot/medication he gave you probably sedated the anxiety. Once that was gone, your anxiety came right back.
Avatar f tn Still no relief! Finally, I took my Maxalt and low and behold the pain started to ease. I fell asleep thinking "Yes! Finally, the pain will be gone". I woke up from my nap and I'll be damned if my neck isn't just as stiff as before and my head is pounding. WTF! Is this a reaction to the Celexa?? How much longer will it take before the side effects go away?
Avatar f tn I was on 80 mg Celexa for 9 years and started tapering off approximately a month ago. Now, I am having migraines, extreme dizziness, nausea, muscle weakness, crying, anxiety, extreme muscle pain. I'm afraid I won't be able to work. I have been totally off the med for 9 days now and am wondering if I should go back to a small dose and come off more slowly.
Avatar f tn After a few months of bad headaches and strange body aches, my PCP put me on 10mg Celexa. Within two days I called telling him I was getting weird muscle spasms, twitching and pain sensations in my chest, arms and legs. He assured me this was not from the medicine (even though it's described in the side effects) and urged me to keep giving it a try. I did, for close to four weeks. I still felt awful so then - probably foolishly - stopped taking it cold turkey.
Avatar f tn t want to take plaquenil just yet. Doctor said to take celebrex and a muscle relaxer. I have been taking 1 mg of xanax for 3 weeks and before that it was about twice a week as needed. I was having such anxiety and sleep issues rhemy said to take it every day. Now 3 weeks later she wants to try the new coctail of celebrex and muscle relaxer. Tried the muscle relaxer the first night seemed to take a little of the night time pain away not much.
Avatar f tn I started having some symptoms such as upper back pain and pain in my left arm at random places like the elbow, wrist, some of the fingers. Not constant pain, doesn't even last a couple of minutes, it's more fleeting aches I would say. They come and go, sporadically. Anyways, my doctor felt my upper back and said I have trigger points, which are basically knots in the muscle that can send referred pain to different areas of the body, including the arms.
564072 tn?1218117322 I have chronic pain. I have been to a pain clinic. They said I had myofascial pain syndrome. Now they say it i in the brain stem and want me to see a doctor for behavoir modification. I take neurotin (600 MS 2x daily) for nerve pain, soma (350 mg 2x daily) for muscle spasm, ultam( 100mg 3x daily, clonazepam ( 1 mg 3x dail), celexa (20 mg at night), amitriptylineHCL (200 mg at night). With all this, there are still nighs I can't sleep.
Avatar n tn I am having severe headaches, confusion, dizziness, tremors, naseau, lack of appetite and diarrhea. I have only been on the celexa for 5 days. I am also having lots of muscle pain. Am I still withdrawing from the zoloft or am I having serotonin syndrome? I have been on antidepressants for 13 years and should have weaned much slower. Thanks for your help. This has been going on for weeks now.
Avatar m tn 1 took serequel 50-100 mg on and off for 10 years and have been on celexa steady for the last 10 years. Last year I started waking up with tongue protrusion and grimmicing at night. My doc took me off serequel and haven't had any problems like that for the last year. 3 months ago I stopped celexa to get a septoplasty. The only thing i noticed is that when I got stressed my jaw would continually push open and I continued to grind my teeth long after the med was stopped.
Avatar m tn CeleXa inhibits reuptake allowing more seratonin to be left in the synaptic gap causing the threshold for the nerves firing to be techniquelly less because less has to be delivered for the spark to occur since more is already there and available. I have smoked M. for 2 years and recently started CeleXa. The only thing ive noticed thus far is that I am less affected by the M. now that I am on CeleXa.
17020225 tn?1455749597 I started taking celexa about 2 weeks ago and have noticed that recently I have been clenching my jaw a lot without realizing it. At night and during the day. I don't even notice I have been doing it until my jaw gets sore and my teeth start to hurt. I didn't have this problem prior to taking celexa. Has anyone else had this happen? Could it be caused by the medication?
Avatar f tn Progressively started to notice pain in my arms and legs, as well as tingling and pain in my fingers and toes. Sometimes I even felt unsteady on my feet. Was given a brain and neck MRI, both showed nothing. Issues persisted so by mid-December my primary care suggested I take Celexa, fearing anxiety. Around this same time I also saw a chiropractor for relief. At that point my symptoms became VERY aggressive.
Avatar f tn I think I do have anxiety everyday, it's just not as bad as it used to be. I was in bed for over a month, I think I was depressed also. I was reading about the exercise, I used to run 3 miles a day before my anxiety and now I can't even clean my house because it hurts so much, my arm, back, shoulder and chest and with the pain comes anxiety. Do you have any advise on how I could start up on my exercising without over doing it? I need to take off the 20lbs I put on!!
Avatar f tn I've been taking Celexa for about 4 months now, and I'm thinking about stopping it. I've gained over 10 pounds, but the worse side effect I'm having is joint and muscle pain. The joint pain is keeping me from doing a lot of things I like or need to do. It started 2-3 months ago....just out of the blue. I've been off Celexa for the past 6 days because I ran out of it and had no refills--until I went to my psy. doctor and spent $90 for him to write me a prescription. (Ugh!
Avatar f tn I am on pretty strong levels of Clonidine (0.2mg BID) and Celexa (40-mg BID) so I am fearful of how the tics will be when we start weining. Any ideas, suggestions, articles, etc...are greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Why not go and learn about your anxiety? For me, the combination of medication like Celexa and therapy seem to have worked really well. As with any challenge we face, I believe the more we learn about it and confront it, the more we are able to get a handle on it. Have you had a history of anxiety before these recent experiences?
Avatar f tn Hi Matthew, I agree entirely with JGF. I've suffered from anxiety for nearly a decade, and it was well-controlled until recently with an SSRI. I will tell you this...from my experience, the first month of any SSRI (for me personally) has been pure hell....but the upside is that once you wait it out, providing the drug works well for you, life gets so much better. I had to try two different ones before finding Lexapro, which worked well for a long time.
1128643 tn?1262483649 Hello there, Cymbalta is a SNRI which mean it will affect your serotonin level but also your norepinephrine level which can be translated into adrenaline which results into a energy boost and less pain. I am on Cymbalta and Lyrica for chronic nerves pain due to compression of the suboccipital triangle causing pressure on the C2 originating nerves resulting in occipital neuralgia and myofacial pain.
Avatar f tn These pains would come last for a second and go, then return in the same pattern. He felt around the area and said there was muscle tension, most likely due to my anxiety, and basically told me to chill out. I told him I was afraid of it being heart related and he said I was too young ( I am a 27 y/o female) and if he in any way thought it was cardiac related he would send me for a stress test. That night my left upper back got all tingly feeling, almost like I applied Icy Hot to the area.
Avatar m tn Celexa tends to be a better med generally for anxiety than Prozac because Prozac tends to be stimulating, though Prozac is considered an easier med to take and especially to stop taking. If you quit Celexa cold turkey and just switched to Prozac, you could be suffering from withdrawal, or it cold be side effects of Prozac, or it could be the problem I mentioned, that Prozac tends not to work as well when anxiety is the main problem, though for some it works fine. Lots to consider.
Avatar m tn t woken up with neck pain in the top of the back part of my neck. I also suffer from horrible anxiety. 8 days ago I started 20mg of celexa and two after I developed a constant tremor in arms, legs, jaw, and head. It isn't a violent tremor and it's barely noticeable. I went to the doctor and he cut my dosage in half but I stopped taking two days ago of this fear I developed over the tremors. My mind is going crazy with thoughts about serious diseases.
Avatar f tn Once you learn that you have a controlling mechanism for your panic attacks, you will no longer fear them and you will get them less and less frequently. Celexa is more of an anti depressant, so it really won't bring you down if you get to the point of having a panic attack.
Avatar m tn While I have no idea if the Celexa is causing this, muscle pain and cramping are one of the most common side effects of antidepressants. There are a couple of possible reasons, one of which is an adverse effect on magnesium absorption and the other is that serotonin is actually much more present in other parts of the body than the brain and one thing it does is relax muscles. Again, I don't know if this is the cause, but it very well might be.
Avatar f tn I've been on Celexa, Neurontin, and Meloxicam for some time due to chronic pain, depression arthritis, and neuropathy. I've been reading a lot about DLPA and it says NOT to take it with SSRI's. Does anyone know whether I should stop taking the Celexa before I ever start taking Ithis supplement? I'm very anxious to give this supplement a try! My depression has gotten severe...to the point that NOTHING works anymore, I have no sex drive, feel hopeless, I have no motivation, etc...
Avatar m tn We took her to a psychiatrist who put her on Zoloft and Trileptal.. She was better for a while and made 9th grade basketball and golf team. She made nearly straight A's and has never had thoughts of hurting herself. Then about three months into her school year she had to quit both sports because on the attacks. We took her to St. Louis Children's hospital and after $18,000.00 worth of treatment we know it is not Turrets, Wilson,s disease, and supposedly any neourological problem.
