Will only say I eat a lot of raw veggies, take a Stress B, and get a lot of exercise, but I gained a ton of weight on Paxil, and am now gaining on Celexa. Wish I had a solution for you. As for constipation, had that on tricyclics, but on Paxil and Lexapro usually had the opposite problem, and on Celexa it's in between and I take magnesium. So there you go. These meds are just weird, they get weirder the older you get, and they affect everyone differently.
In my case, I get dry mouth and bad constipation as side effects of my AD meds, but this is a fair trade for me. Without my meds, I can not function, can't get out of bed, can't work, I feel constant doom and irrational fear, have panic attacks, feel out of it and tired, and many other nasty depressive symptoms that are too numerous to mention.
Do I feel good about that trade off? You better believe I do.
I also have been treated for anxiety and depression with celexa and ativan for a year. I have not had alot of exercise over the last year either. I have been mostly on a weight watchers type diet and have the same thing every day. I am sure you will agree that I need to get off these laxatives after using them for a long time. What am I up against and what do you suggest. Do cheese and skim milk products bind you up. What should I do. I do not have cancer.
I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Sounds like you might have some vagal issues. The vagus nerve lies right alongside the heart and the esophagus and when it's irritable, I get irregular beats. A lot of people have this problem. I, too, was offered -- actually urge -- to take anti-depression meds by serveral doctors for my anxiety about my heart. I finally went to a pyschiatrist and he said I wasn't depressed, but rather anxious and I didn't need the anti-depressant. I take Xanax .25 mg.
CeleXa inhibits reuptake allowing more seratonin to be left in the synaptic gap causing the threshold for the nerves firing to be techniquelly less because less has to be delivered for the spark to occur since more is already there and available. I have smoked M. for 2 years and recently started CeleXa. The only thing ive noticed thus far is that I am less affected by the M. now that I am on CeleXa.
At first, Celexa made me sleepy and relaxed. Believe me, this was a Good Thing! At last, I could sleep well!
I cannot say that the drug itself decreased my PVCs--however, it DID decrease my awareness of them.
Since their frequency was related to my anxiety and awareness of them (because of the effects of adrenaline), as I became less and less conscious of these sensations, the frequency of PVCs decreased dramatically.
Trust your doctor and give this a try.
I still ahve anxiety, my doctor gave me Celexa which is okay, my question is, is it okay to take Xanax and Celexa together? I used to take Xanax too for panic attacks, and for now I know it will make me feel better. Does anyone know if they can be taken together? I have never been hooked on Xanax at all, so that is not a problem.
t go back to him for three months. I would like to know how to tapper off the Celexa and with me getting off of that and with the help of my thyroid medication will I start to lose weight ( I have not lost ANYTHING since I started my thyroid medication and I am dieting and exercising!!). I go on vacation in two months I would love to lose at least 10pounds although, that isn't even close to what I need to lose.

When that did nothing for the insomnia and resulting panic, I went to a regular doctor the next day and he prescribed Celexa and Klonopin. I did sleep last night, thankfully.
My question now is, can I take one of these low dose Xanax today? I started the Celexa last night and took 1 mg Klonopin to sleep. I just want to feel normal again.

I've taken three benzos, but not that one. But using benzos for sleep isn't the best idea, as they're so easy to become addicted to if you take them regularly, and insomnia tends to get worse with continued use of medication for sleep. I would especially try to wait it out as you're not anywhere near a therapeutic dose of the Celexa yet, and it might make you sedated when you move up. If the Celexa works you won't need the Ativan much.
I have taken Celexa 20mg with Klonopin with excellent results. Normally your doctor wants to wait 4-6 weeks to see if the 20 mg does the job for you, and if not he will increase the dosage. This is how long it takes for the Celexa or any anti-depressant to reach therapeutic level. You will be able to wean off the Klonopin, once your anti-depressant starts working, but I continued on both, and still take the Klonopin with Citolopram.
