Avatar m tn I have been advised to take Celebrex or Topamax for headaches. Which treats headaches/migraines better? Which has had more success?
Avatar f tn For the last 2-3 weeks I have been having awful headaches. My dentist thinks it might be TMJ, so she fitted me for a splint (which I get next week), but advised me to see an MD to rule out other possible causes, which I did. He does not believe it is TMJ because it is not concentrated around my jaw. Rather it hurts ALL over from my jaw, temples, sides of my head, forehead, neck, and sometimes shoulders. The MRI came back completely normal.
Avatar f tn This headache often occurs in people with migraine. The pain itself generally lasts a fraction of a second but can last for up to one minute in some people. Another type of stabbing headache is called paroxysmal hemicrania. This is marked by episodes of stabbing or sharp pains that occur on one side of the head and may be associated with eye tearing or runny nose. Episodes may occur several times and last 30 seconds to a minute.
Avatar f tn I have seen a Neurologist, who in the first appointment said my headaches are related to hormones and after all blood tests for thyroid/para came back clear, he said I will be fine. (In other words, just go on suffering!) The headache starts just before my menstral cycle and lasts 5 - 7 days. I live on aspirin, neurofen, maxalt - these just relieve the symptoms and within 3 - 4 hrs the pain returns.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I get a wavy line that moves (like a migraine aura without the migraine) for about half an hour in both eyes and it goes away.
Avatar f tn I also take a number of medications, including Topamax for migraine, blood pressure meds, Celebrex, asthma medication and diabetes medication. However I have had recurring visual disturbances that only happen at night. I get up in the middle of the night - to go to the bathroom - and the bathroom is covered in geometric patterns, like a checkered pattern or little lacework pattern. It's everywhere, the walls, tub, sink, floor. I feel like I'm tripping on something!

443898 tn?1229700080 Is there any way you can be over medicated with the enbrel and celebrex? For the fatigue I use vitamin B complex. This really helps me. Good luck and dont give up!
Avatar f tn It is important also that you identify possible triggers that could be responsible for your migraines. There is a migraine tracker here in Medhelp that you can use for this. If you can identify the triggers, you can also avoid recurrences of your headache. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 5 years old and was seen by a Neurologist that told us she suffered from migraine headaches. we have not been able to come up with anything that causes her headaches. We have tried keeping a diary and everything seems so random. Some of the headaches she gets will put her to bed for the night. Is there anything besides just letting her sleep it off i can do for her?

Avatar f tn If it lasts for more than 4 hours it could be chronic tension headache, chronic migraine or altered migraine or hemicranias continua. Indomethacin is the drug of choice in hemicranias continua. In fact the diagnosis is considered confirmed if a patient responds to Indomethacin. Doctors should also rule out hormone imbalance and low estrogen as the cause of your headaches. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your doctor once.

Avatar m tn I am waking up at 3:00 a.m. with severe migraine headaches. My blood pressure is 240/128. I am 26 yrs. old. I have no insurance. My neck has been stiff for about a week now. I went to the emerg. room and had a CT scan and they gave me some blood pressure medicine but the next day it came right back. I fall in the floor with pain and I have no where to go. Can you help me with these headaches and the blood pressure?
Avatar n tn Often times, over-the-counter pain medications can make migraine headaches worse. Prescription migraine medications, known as triptans, are often needed to stop a migraine headache, but you need a prescription to buy these and you must get a prescription from a doctor. I hope that information helps.
Avatar f tn I had thought that taking Celebrex a day or two before tests may have skewed them, as that had happened once when I took a migraine pill before tests. I am posting past two tests for comparison. I was about to go get retested, but realized that the ft3 was just over the high end of range. Sept 2011- on 3 grains compounded: FT4- 1.32 (0.82-1.77) FT3- 3.5 (2.0-4.4) TSH .006 (0.450-4.
398893 tn?1201315707 Hi, Primary headaches that started as migraines or tension headaches may later on transform into chronic daily headaches. Chronic daily headaches may be due to rebound headaches caused by chronic use of medications ( greater than 3 month use of analgesics for example or migraine specific drugs used at 10 days per month). I suggest that you have your headache classified by a neurologist.
Avatar f tn I don't know what ur DOC was or how long u have been clean but until this past week ( my DOC way hydro & i'am 28 days clean ) i've had a major headache almost everyday! So bad i even filled my migraine meds Friday night, & for me to pay $50 for 9 pills it had to be bad! But a small price to pay over my sobriety. Hope u feel better, excedrine seems to help the best though i will say. Love & prayers.
Avatar f tn Metoclopramide is a good medication to discuss with your doctor because not only does it stop the nausea and vomiting associated with migraine headaches, but it will also help to stop the pain associated with migraine headaches. Metocloprmaide can be taken even if you do not experience nausea and vomiting, it can be taken along with triptans and analgesics in order to improve the pain killing power of your other migraine medications.
Avatar n tn I also noticed that when ectopics set off a tachycardia afterwards, then it would directly cause a headache and often migraine. Understanding headaches and migraines is a neurological specialty as is cardiology -unfortunately specialists often have very blinkered views! My suggestion would be to keep a headache/ectopics diary - maybe using one of the migraine diary sheets from the migraine charities - then you can present some evidence to a Dr.
Avatar n tn My mother has had debilitating cough headaches in increasing frequency and severity for a couple years now. The pain is unilateral-right and most severe on the top and side of the head and at the base of the neck. Her right eye tears and right nostril runs. She has a herniated disc in her neck but the doctors have said this is unrelated. Steroids helped a while back, but now they're back again and steroids, antiseizure meds, and painkillers don't help.
Avatar m tn Sinusitis, refractive errors of the eye, migraine, cluster headaches, brain tumors, high blood pressure, tension headaches, temporal arteritis, pinched cervical spinal nerve, poor or disturbed sleep etc are several causes of headaches. Dental pain and ear ache can cause similar symptoms. Please consult a headache and migraine specialist to rule out these causes one by one. Take care!
Avatar f tn In my opinion, that is a very odd medication for a migraine. Usually triptans like Imitrex or Maxalt are given for migraines and work very well. Usually the Fiorinal is given for tension headaces. Good luck and I hope you can find the perfect medication for you.
