Celebrex and blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex and blood pressure

celebrex

Avatar f tn Hello, Previously before starting Celebrex medication I had slightly high blood pressure I am taking blood pressure medication, after starting Celebrex my blood pressure soared to 170/80 and the highest being 183. My doctor sent me to a cardiac specialist and it was found that I had a faulty heart valve, I had an Angiogram and was found to have slightly enlarged heart muscle. Could this have been due to the Celebrex, I have stopped taking it and my blood pressure has returned to 115/60. Cazz.
Avatar f tn If you have high blood pressure, this medicine may not be the right fit even if it is controlled by blood pressure medications. And over time, NSAIDs increase blood pressure so that is a long term side effect that should be considered. If you are going to start a powerful NSAID like Celebrex, I would recommend that you purchase a home blood pressure monitoring kit to periodically check your bp while on this medication.
Avatar n tn t start having heartburn until I had taken Mobic for 4 or 5 months, in February of this year I went to the emergency room with chest pain and my blood pressure was 165/113, my blood pressure is usually 110/72. So I was a little concerned, they did lots of tests, x-ray, EKG, and came to the conclusion that it is was heartburn due to the mobic. The doctor prescribed nexium, which I have been taking ever since, and it seems to help with the chest pain.
548642 tn?1266179652 my gi didnt even know the dose to celebrex so i doubt he knows if its good to my liver! im telling yall hes stupid and i need to find a new dr asap!
Avatar m tn I don't think it should be an issue, I took Celebrex and Morphine for an extended time with no issue. Ask your doctor about any concerns though.
Avatar n tn My two daughters take Celebrex as a person would take Advil here or there and do fine with it .. they both cannot take ibuprofen. My son cannot take it since birth as he gets bad reflux from in .. They make custom made ibuprofen suppositories if you really need a NSAID but cannot do it by mouth and they are wonderful .. you need a compounding pharmacy but my co pay was only $8.00!
Avatar n tn I, too, use "hot packs" for my pain sometimes - I know they usually say ice for inflammation, which of course, is part of what arthritis is, but i've also got fibromyalgia and I find that cold definitely intensifies my pain from that, so I try to stick to the heat instead. I'm guessing part of what the heat is doing is helping to relax the muscles around the joints so hopefully helping the pain for a while. You can defnitely do what your sister does for the heat packs.
Avatar f tn Celebrex may decrease the effectiveness of Metoprolol, and lead to an elevation in blood pressure (approximately 5 mm Hg) when given over a period of weeks. This effect is most significant in patients receiving concurrent antihypertensive agents and long-term Celebrex use.
1155483 tn?1262432647 As with any NSAID (which Toradol is), there is a increased risk for stomach issues with it, including gastro bleeding. Nausea and vomiting is quite common. Another thing to consider with the NSAIDS is that they can also raise blood pressure, so if you have a blood pressure problem (and even if you don't) - you need to watch it very carefully taking this type of medication.
Avatar m tn you need to see a dentist that specialises in tmj and get xrays done. also see your doctor and get blood tests done for inflammation markers etc. good luck.
Avatar m tn Has anyone used Celebrex for their Crohn's? I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar n tn She is 64 but she also has osteoporosis and arthritis in her lower back. The back doctor just prescribed Celebrex, is this the safest drug for her? Also what should people with Hep C do to better care for their liver eventhough so far she seems to have a healthy liver. For the osteoporosis she is on Fosamax. She has been on it for several years. I am just afraid that too many potent drugs can be harmful for her liver.
Avatar f tn Hey Hopey. I was just prescribed Celebrex too!! I'm very anxious to see how well it helps b/c i have constant back pain and have tried several meds that haven't given ANY relief. I started the Celebrex today, 600 mgs. And will take 400 mgs/day after today. The dr DID say it can take a few days to start feeling relief from it.
Avatar f tn hi i have arthritis and i have had 4 joints totally replaced and i am only 35 with no kids. i am having so severe side effects from my med mainy celebrex i have had an heart test and was seen as early polarization , diagnosed with chronic gastrointestinal reflux and have skin rash and legions . i am thinking of a claim against them . but in the main time i dont want my doctors to feel bad as they have been with me since my early twenties.
Avatar m tn I have been on methotrexate and celebrex for at least 15 years, probably long. I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.
Avatar f tn t really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
Avatar m tn Another thing to consider with the advil is that if you have high blood pressure, any type of anti inflammatory can increase your blood pressure (I have to be very careful with them - was on Celebrex for a short time until it elevated my BP to 185/105 - went back to normal as soon as I stopped the meds) - Untreated HBP can also cause memory problems sometimes (by the way, long term prednisone use can also raise your BP) Best of luck!
Avatar f tn Usually happens anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour after I wake up and lasts most of the day. standing and moving around is worse. Internist ran blood tests but did not have any answers.Wants to try med to raise my blood pressure which I wasn't sure about because when I take my bp it tends to be normal or prehypertensive. Trying to figure out if this lightheadedness is due to my neck problems or maybe something else. premenopause? something else?
370181 tn?1595629445 t anymore. NSAID and DMARDS and cortisone injections and prednisone and metho injections and Remicade and Enbrel and Humira...........I've probably left something out, but you get the picture. The Enbrel worked quite well, but after 2 years I began getting some weird lab reports and while it was never conslusively connected to the Enbrel, I became wary of the biologics because I felt they just really didn't know enough about the long term effects, so I told my rheumo I was done.
Avatar m tn htm A plausible mechanism exists There is evidence that the cyclo-oxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2 are involved in the regulation of retinal blood flow.7 Interference with the action of these enzymes by either COX-2 inhibitors or conventional NSAIAs may therefore cause acute, temporary disturbance of vision. The clinical picture seen in the reported cases is consistent with this mechanism, although there may be other possible explanations.
Avatar dr m tn However to take the drug long term you run the risk of liver, kidney, GI effects, High Blood Pressure and stroke etc. Therefore I and my prescribing physician want to get my dose down (after a month trial) and then completely off the drug. Consequently the "weaning" onto SAMe, Tumeric, and several other natural remedies supplemented with the use of a narcotic analgesic strictly on an as needed basis. SAMe has had good effect in some.
Avatar f tn So I went to my doc, he found a slightly swollen lymph node and ordered me some antibiotics (which I have finished taking) and celebrex (still taking). The pain has now changed, it feels more localized in my armpit now instead of upper chest above left breast. It is a radiating pain I feel when I have my arm in front of me like when I sit at my computer or drive. I have done minimal working out because I worried it would stress it out too much and apply heat presses occasionally.
Avatar f tn Does anyone take celebrex?I started Prozak last week and they want me to take celebrex too. They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.
Avatar f tn Hi so I have real bad body pain and health issues that cause it. I have found myself buying pain pills Percocet 5/325 and Vic 10s and take 1 sometimes 2 a day. And have been for a little over a month now. However my Dr is now giving me celebrex and it isn't working and I am scared that I am building up a tolerance to pills. Should I go a week and be miserable and then try the celebrex? My body hurts so bad I can't even move some days and I have 5 kids with the youngest being 2 yrs old.
