Strep came back positive (Strep C) and negative for mono. I was prescribed amoxicillin and was feeling much better on day 3 until I developed a horrible yeast infection. I was then prescribed the one dose of fluconazole and the yeast infection was cleared.
There are few STDs that cause sore throat, and even those do so quite rarely. Almost nobody with unexplained sore throat turns out to have an STD as the cause. Both of you probably have colds. But if you want further reassurance, you can be tested. CBT, it isn't necessary to wait a month; gonorrhea testing is accurate any time more than 3-4 days after exposure. Don't delay; there is no "shame in going to be tested".
t clear it so I was put on cefdinir pus pockets are gone and my throat is no longer sore, however I have whitish grey flat patches in my throat on both sides just behind my back teeth. 2nd dr I went to tested me and I tested positive for yeast she gave me Nystatin for 10 days and patches are still there. 3rd dr after looking at my throat said I did not have oral thrush I have tried to scrape these patches off but they are adhered firmly to my mouth.
For syphilis, you would expect a sore to occur at a site of infection within 3 weeks of exposure and then for a blood test to be positive by about 4 weeks after the exposure. If there is no sore that develops, the chance that the blood test would be positive is about zero. Further, the antibiotic you took would prevent syphilis. I would not worry about syphilis.
3. what are my odds of catching Syphillis give it is more prevelant in SE Asia and Thailand.
Your doctor may have an explanation to account for your symptoms but, if not he/she may have to empirically prescribe another drug, one not in the category of bactrim and Cefdinir. It would also be reasonable for you to ask your doctor to contact the pharmaceutical manufacturers of these drugs to find out if reactions such as yours have been reported.
I have been told an isolated sore throat isnt ARS. I am waiting for my 6 week post-PEP test date, which would be during first week of December. I have also been told not to test before that as it will increase my anxiety. Here are my questions
1. Is PEP at 66 hours any good at all?
2. Is an isolated bad sore throat/pharyngitis/tonsillitis a symptom of HIV ARS?
3. From the situation that I described, what is my risk of becoming positive?

as i said it is an antibiotic so would kill bacteria to some degree but if you tested negative at 6 weeks you dont have it
I visited the doctor and explained to him about having unprotected sex and he sent me for a blood work for the regular test, I was also given antibiotics for sore throat and omeprazole for stomach. Results for HIV were negative after 4 days of waiting.This stomach ache kept on but sore throat had gone away.
I am worried out of my mind because I have had a sore throat , swollen lymph nodes, headaches, stiff neck, trouble sleeping,etc.for about two weeks and also a knot on my neck for about two months. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.

Hi and so sorry you have this problem. Do you have pus in your throat and/o a high fever? There is an anaerobic (grows without oxygen) bacteria that can be in your throat normally or can cause chronic sore throat. It is called Fusobacterium necrophorum. It isn't always seen in the throat and the regular antibiotics wouldn't work on it You may need metronidazole. That is if you are not allergic to it.
Who gave me antibiotics. It went away for a few days but then came back. My symptoms were running nose, nasal drainage down my throat filling my lungs with gunk, and subsequent cough. After 3 more trips to my family Dr. and three more, and different antibiotics, I demanded something was wrong and I'm not taking any more antibiotics. Did the doctor do a throat culture for strep? A quick swab to the back of the throat for a rapid strep test could give you the answer to your discomfort. Whatever is causing your discomfort, it does not sound like it is going to go away on its own. You are going to need the treatment of a doctor.
