fainting

Avatar f tn Since I was about 10 years old I have been having these fainting spells. I never have them sitting down just when I am standing. I feel a pressure in my head, then my vision goes black, I hear a roaring in my ears, and they last for only seconds. When I come back I am slightly confused for a second then my head hurts a little, my heart is pounding, I sometimes have coldsweats, and my breathing is faster. I am 24 years old and in the last couple years they have been getting a little worse.

Anemia due to heavy periods is a common cause of fainting in menstruating females. causes of leg cramps may be dehydration, dyselectrolytemias, medications like diuretics, statins, an injury like overstretched muscles, shin splints, atherosclerosis of arteries causing claudication pain, deep vein thrombosis, cellulitis, arthritis or gout, nerve damage as in diabetics, smokers and alcoholics, osteomyelitis or corticosteroids use.
Avatar m tn My mother has had bouts of fainting and light headedness. Sometimes they come weekly and other times not for 2 months. This has been going on since 2007. She has been admitted to hospital on a number of occasions but each time they have not come to any conclusions as to a diagnosis. These attacks of light headedness last 2-5 minutes. She slurs her speech, gets pins and needles in her arms, and sometimes but not always faints.
Avatar f tn I had horrible timing with my fainting spells last pregnancy. I was always really sick with morning sickness and once I passed out while on the stairs and fell down half of them. Woke up at the bottom of the stairs so confused. It's an unfortunate thing but also a bit normal. The amount of blood in your body is increasing and that is usually what causes it. If it happens a lot you should definitely go in and get some blood work done.
Avatar f tn I have had two fainting spells over the past 5 years where my hands and feet start to tingle before it happens as well as the feeling I have to frequently blinkand my neck feels like it needs to crack, it happened once when I was driving, I pulled over thank god.. After it happens I also have ringing in my ears and sort of the feeling in my head that I was hit with a bat. I have noticed it comes when I have high anxiety or stress.
Avatar f tn Hi, Sinus arrhythmia is a normal phenomenon in every child. I hope your doctor knows what he's doing. There are two possibilities. Fainting after standing for a long time or during rest, is usually caused by vagal hyperactivity that causes a drop in the blood pressure, usually with a slow heart rate. This is more or less normal.
364288 tn?1300144506 Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! I just had a quick question for you re: fainting. I've had a few spells on and off nothing to the point where I actually faint but I start feeling like I'm going to pass out. I get sweaty and I feel sick to my stomach. I talked to my Dr. about this and she didn't seem concerned. She said sometimes your blood pressure gets low and it you start feeling that way. Just wondering if anyone has felt like this before? It *****!!
Avatar n tn Hi, The possible causes of your symptoms are - medication withdrawal, heat stroke, dehydration, low blood sugar, side effect of the medication you are taking or vaso vagal syncope. There is no way to attribute the symptoms to any one diagnosis without a complete clinical examination. You should consult your doctor about the symptoms you are having. Post us about any doubts that you have. Regards.
290867 tn?1333569278 hi there, i also had dizzy/near fainting spells and hot and cold flashes over the first few weeks. i've also had heart palpitations (later on, in my 3rd trimester with my 1st pregnancy). you can check your blood pressure and drink gatorade and make sure you have enough salt in your diet if low blood pressure is the issue. i found the near fainting spells went away on their own though.
Avatar f tn t seizure you were having but simple fainting. The most important cause of fainting is the abnormal activation of vagus nerve, which leads to the impariment of the blood supply to the brain. Are you taking some diuretics, hyponatremia can also cause fainting. You might simply be dehydrated. But I think you are most probably having seizures because the syptom of loose bladder strongly points towards seizures. Electoencephalography will help to do the right classification.

Avatar n tn I've been having fainting or dizy spells for almost a month now. Tried dinking more water and more portein like suggested for this problem, didn't help. The spells are getting more frequent and lasting longer each time. Yesterday I had one spell lasting over 30 minutes and today I had 2 that lasted over 15 minutes each within 3 hours. Does anyone have any insight or information about this?
Avatar f tn I was fine for the next two months, with a couple of minor dizzy spells here and there. Then, about 5 weeks ago I had two more near fainting/diarrhea spells three days apart, which were quite scary. Over the next two weeks I was still weak and still having diarrhea/loose stool a few times a day, but eventually felt 100% for about three days. All Cardio tests (EKG, Echo, Holter moniter) were normal. The symptoms got very bad a few days later.
Avatar m tn I guess what I am asking is, how many of you are having or have had these spells that already have a dx of MS? Thank you, I do not feel so alone now, just seeing all these posts.

Avatar f tn If I had to make an educated guess for you, the fainting happened because of the sudden change of position and drop of blood pressure. Have you had other incidents of this or is this a one time thing? Anyway, welcome again and I hope you stick around and join us in the fun and education!
Avatar f tn About 5 years ago I had odd proximal muscle pain in thighs and upper arms. Pain included a lot of burning sensations. Had difficulty with lifting my arm to do my hair but no other weakness. Thyroglobulin was at 1900 and had some thyroid level changes that leveled out after a few months and was diagnosed with thyroiditis but never treated. Symptoms stopped until this October. I had a horrible upper respiratory illness that stopped me from working out. I have lost 60 pounds since April.

Avatar n tn Well, since your daughter has a craving for salt (has increased salt in her diet) and is very thirsty (drinks a lot of water), you must think in lines of adrenal gland exhaustion or diabetes insipudus. This can cause fainting spells, abnormal EEG patterns at time and also may reflect heart involvement. Do discuss this with your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Just before I found out what it was, I already resigned from my work because of lightheadedness and fainting spells. Now, I am only staying at home and I rarely feel that way. I'm only experiencing awareness of heartbeat and palpitations. But sometimes I can't even sleep alone because I have a feeling that I will faint. When I go out, I need to have someone beside me because I always feel that something will happen. And I am also overly sensitive to noise and light.
