1298247 tn?1288290953 Its main function is to direct blood towards the digestive system when food is eaten, but if it is overactive then the vagus nerve can take too much blood away from the brain, causing a loss of consciousness (vagal nerve fainting). This type of fainting is not generally limited to people with 'defective' vagal nerves, but it is a reaction that can happen to any human.
Avatar f tn You should speak to your doctor about this, the fact that you are actually fainting and also vomiting is concerning. Rule out all other causes and don't assume it's anxiety. Having a miscarriage is very tragic, but get checked out to be on the safe side.

Does anyone have any idea why I am doing this.
Avatar f tn Her symptoms are chest pain, dizziness, occassional fainting spells, headache, abdominal pain, and of course constant vomiting. Doctors have no idea what is wrong with my daughter, and have discharged her although her symptoms are still as bad as ever. It is only 1 p.m. here, and she has already vomited 23 times. She has had no change in lifestyle , or any recent trauma, under no stress...we truly believe that whatever this is is a physical medical problem, and not psychological.

Avatar f tn The episodes last for a maximum of 24 hours and then resolve or a new symptom starts. The symptoms include temporary loss of sensation in any part of the body, black outs, vision loss, tingling, loss of function of a limb etc. It is common in people with high blood pressure, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, and high cholesterol. Generally this can happen several times before an actual stroke happens. This is a warning sign for the body.

Avatar n tn Regarding her episodes of vomiting and abdominal pain, these are also common in patients with psychogenic disorders, however I think it is important and a priority to make sure there is no underlying condition producing these symptoms, before being able to blame them on psychiatric problems. There are metabolic syndromes in children presenting with nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Avatar n tn For the past few weeks I have been experiencing a combination of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness/fainting. But this past week the symptoms have worsened. When I started to walk, my vision quickly went almost completely white, and I felt dizzy and as if I was going to collapse. I managed to reach the cafe area and sit down, but then I began vomiting violently.

Avatar n tn The sudden weight loss, which is a significant amount and should have raised some red flags was apparently simply ignored? Fainting and sudden weight loss are seldom. IF EVER, symptoms of an inner ear infection. Go find another doctor who actually went to medical school. The ER was on the right track to do an MRI, but when that came back clear, what? They ALSO just sent you home? Where do you live for crying out loud? You absolutely need to get a second...........
Avatar f tn I was always really sick with morning sickness and once I passed out while on the stairs and fell down half of them. Woke up at the bottom of the stairs so confused. It's an unfortunate thing but also a bit normal. The amount of blood in your body is increasing and that is usually what causes it. If it happens a lot you should definitely go in and get some blood work done. But if it's just once in a while just try and be safe and bring it up at your next doctors visit.
