Cat sneezing blood losing weight

Common Questions and Answers about Cat sneezing blood losing weight

Avatar f tn I lived in a granny flat on a property that houses two dogs and five cats (two of the cats are my own and live exclusively with me). About six months ago, my landlady adopted another cat whose owner was leaving town. Edward is about 2 years old and seems a bit depressed. My landlady's male cats were not neutered and became very territorial as they hit adolescence, marking all territory in sight. Edward has, on and off, lived with me - partly due, I think, to the other cats being territorial.
596105 tn?1314580333 The vet said its probably because of his weight because she said he sounds fine to her. We had blood work to see if he has diabetes,it turned out completely okay haha...So now we are on our way to losing weight.
Avatar n tn Let's see a 10 yr old cat that's losing weight and losing hair. This, to me, sounds like your cat has an overactive thyroid. Try doing a google search or yahoo search on hyperthyroidism and see if the symptoms fit. There's also a possiblility of kidney disease, as well. That could cause weight loss, too, but not hair loss. My main suspicion is hyperthyroid disease. This can be extremely dangerous because the heart rate increases big time. This can cause heart failure.
Avatar n tn My indoor cat began losing weight rapidly approximately 2 months ago. Up until then he was very healthy. He is still eating, drinking, urinating and pooping normally. I took him to the vet where he was tested for hyperthyroidism. This test came back negative. The vet ran tests for feline leukemia, parasites, high protein levels in urine - all tests came back negative. The vet is just as frustrated as I am as my cat continues to lose weigh and there are no indications why.
Avatar n tn 15 yr. old cat losing weight but still active w/normal bloodwork including thyroid. What to look for next?
199954 tn?1294944669 Do you have any idea how old the cat is? Cats of any age who have abdominal parasites will continue to lose weight despite a good appetite. Medication for parasites is available from your veterinarian, and is highly recommended. Cats aged four and older can develop an endocrine disorder called hyperthyroid disease and will also lose weight despite over-eating. Hyperthyroid can also cause multiple other problems.
405614 tn?1329144114 We were sitting on the couch last night; actually, I was sitting, he was lying with his back against my thigh. I lightly laid my arm along his length to scratch under his chin and could feel his hip bones pushing against my arm. I knew he was getting thinner, but that shocked me. I haven't had a scale to weigh him since I moved into my apartment. I drove to Target and bought a new digital scale today (I've been losing weight, too; for me it's a good thing).
Avatar n tn Liver enzyme elevation can occur when an overweight cat stops eating and loses weight rapidly. This puts that cat at risk for hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease). Your cats liver enzyme elevation's are only very slight at the levels you have listed, but can increase if your cat stops eating. Other common causes for vomiting daily is inflammatiory bowel disease and food hypersensitivity. It might be time for a dietary change also.
Avatar n tn my cat is losing alot of hair and lost a lot of weight and has dirrerria bad can this affect my other pet and my family

766586 tn?1284383198 Trying to work on the weight loss these days. So far so good but have a loooooooonnnng way to go. I have been exercising 3-4 times per week and sticking with my diet. I decided to put up that weight ticker for encouragement. I figure if I start the IVF process in July, then I have about 10-12 weeks to lose weight before the procedure. Wish me luck!
Avatar f tn re cat is eating a lot, and still losing weight, then it is likely your cat has either steroid induced diabetes or a thyroid condition. Good luck and please let us know how he's doing.
Avatar m tn Prescribed Clindamycin for a whole month. His only symptoms after a day or two back on was increased sneezing (or reverse sneezing and some snorting) He was doing incredibly well after 1/1/2 weeks on antibiotic again, but we started having problems getting it into him. Called the vet on Friday Aug 18 and her assistant suggested holding the antibiotic over the weekend. Called on Monday and couldn't talk to vet until Tuesday afternoon. She suggested giving antibiotic only every other day.
Avatar n tn All of my blood work looks good and tumor markers are all within limits. I keep losing weight. I have lost almost 37 pounds unintentional. Do you have any suggestions what I could next or who do I go to to see why I am losing weight???? What do I do next?
Avatar n tn I agree that this could be a bladder infection, but another possibility is that this could be kidney disease especially since the cat is losing weight. Kidney disease happens when a cat is 7 yrs or older. This is not a problem that'll just go away, but this could get MUCH worse. I wouldn't delay taking your cat to the vet.
Avatar n tn My 9 yr. old cat has been sneezing for over 2 yrs. He also has constant left eye & left nose drainage...sometimes bloody. Vet has no answers here so gave him an antibiotic shot. The shot was ineffective. His appetite is fine.He does'nt purr out loud so I've wondered if it's an obstruction.
Avatar n tn The cat has early signs of kidney disease, elevated thyroid and high blood pressure. For the past 2 weeks, the cat has been not eating enough and is only interested in eating liquids (gravy from canned food, pureed cat food). Last week, the vet did x-rays and blood work and said while the liver is a little large, nothing jumps out as the cause. The cat has lots of mucous in his mouth.
Avatar f tn In the last few months my cat has been losing its fur and now its starting lose fur all over, it has been losing weight too an has very recently been sick a lot, whats wrong with my cat?
7532341 tn?1391693986 t want to scare you but my Bailey also developed the same sneezing that also included a discharge with small amounts of blood. My Vet made her an appointment with a specialist that did xrays and found a large tumor back deep in her nasal passage, they didnt recommend any treatment other than comfort measures....when she totally lost her sense of smell of course she stopped eating and I had to put her down... but it could also be something lodged in his nasal passage...
