Cat not eating or drinking

Common Questions and Answers about Cat not eating or drinking

eating

Avatar f tn His toilet is well moist though not runny so I think he is healthly. I guess I panicked a bit when some one told me is was not normal for a cat not to drink. If I have further problems I will get back to you and thanks again for your help.
11404538 tn?1417932325 The fact that your cat has not eaten in 2 days is not good. There are a number of reasons why a cat might purr. I found out recently that sometimes cats purr to make themselves feel better when they are sick. You need to take your cat to a vet asap . I don't want to alarm you but organs could start to shut down after two days of no food and minimal amounts of water. This is serious. Your cat needs urgent medical care. Do not delay. Let your vet tell you what is wrong with your cat.
Avatar f tn On she is losing weight ,throwing up a lot,not eating or drinking much.and with that using her litter box very little.I have switched vets for numerous reasons.Should I take her in for more test and for what teast?
Avatar n tn Any dog (or cat, for that matter) that stops eating and drinking should be taken to the vet immediately. Since your great prynees are drinking water, that's a good sign. Are they still having diarrhea? PLEASE call your vet soon and ask if they should be brought in. My dog had diarrhea during her puppy stage, and the vet advised I stop feeding the regular puppy chow and gave me suggestions of fresh food to give her to bulk up her stools.
Avatar f tn Ok, so i have a 10 year old mut that is part collie, part shepherd, and part golden retreiver. She has not been eating or drinking much (half a bowl of food and water each) for the past 4 days. She is acting lethargic when not doing anything, (she will typically fall asleep in about 10 or so minutes but now will fall asleep within 30 seconds to a minute) but it doesnt stop her from wanting to move around if she wants to do something. She has been going to the bathroom fine.
229538 tn?1300377767 Hi Jimmy....Congrats on your new baby! Jimmy, is your new kitten eating wet food? If not, I would encourage ALL wet food. Cats naturally don't drink much water, they mainly get it within their diet, so you want to start off your new kitty with some good grain free wet food. The grain free will be helpful in the future should your kitten become intolerant to grains, you'll have nipped this problem in the bud at the get go.
Avatar f tn He started drinking a little bit, and is sniffing the food and is still not eating( he also is not going poo or pee) I guess drinking is a good sign, but do you have any suggestions to help him get better?
Avatar f tn She has been eating normally, until today. She is not eating a lot, nor is she drinking a lot. Although, she is drinking more than eating. The only time that my cat has ever had a checkup, was when she was spayed, which was about 3-4 years ago. I was going to post in the Expert forums, but then I read that it said that it costs $10 to ask a question, and unfortunately, I do not have a visa or mastercard. Thank you for trying to help.
488817 tn?1208966819 Our female cat gave birth about 3 days ago and not she is barely eating or drinking anything. All she leaves the kittens for is to use the litter box. We have been giving her pet vitamins everyday and trying to get her to eat but she just inst trying.(she is eating the vitamins) Yesterday she vomited, and today when we moved her to check on her he is growling when we touch her lower body.
Avatar f tn My 20 year old cat has stopped eating or is eating very litle and is getting very thin.
Avatar f tn Of course, there is a limit, and like one of my cats, they could stop eating and drinking altogether after a certain period of time of not eating. Has she even asked for food at all? So it could very well be she didn't like the change. Cats are fastidious creatures of habit. But, it could also be that she has health problems. Whatever the problem is your vet will tell you if she there is anything wrong with her.
Avatar f tn I am so stressed because we are on day 6/7 of my 6 month old kitten not eating or drinking much. She also is not acting like her crazy self at all. Short bursts of play, but then nothing. I brought her back to vet on day 4. They did blood work- it was normal. Gave her fluids & an enema because there was hard stool in the colon & they thought constipation could be causing her not to eat. On day 5 I called the vet again out of desperation.
Avatar f tn We had two cats one aged 14 and one aged 7, we recently lost the 14 year old and decided to get another two kittens who are absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately our resident cat hasn't taken to them at all, if it was just that I would give him time and plenty of love until (hopefully) it's gets better but he's more or less stopped eating, he's eating small amounts but nothing significant.
514349 tn?1272801633 It's possibly diabetes. Talk to your vet about treatment options. It's not the end of the world, even in an older cat. Don't go planning the funeral yet, or your kitty may be offended.
Avatar n tn A 10kg cat is a 22# pound cat, which is certainly not underweight, but is obese, so I am assuming this is a typo. If your cat is not eating or drinking, then this is an emergency, and your cat should go to the veterinarian ASAP. The excessive licking may be due to fleas, allergies, or anxiety (or a combination), and your veterinarian can examine her to tell you the best course of treatment.
1203066 tn?1265879976 my cat is a female aged 12 1/2 years of age she is drinking alot even drinking out of vases put in my living room for moistening the air because of central heating. she has a bowl of water always out by her food dish with water in it constantly. what is wrong with her.
Avatar f tn Now our cat is taking quick shallow breaths, is lethargic, not eating or drinking that we can tell. Normally he will fight and try to get away when picked up but today he definitely seems to have a lot less energy. Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this change?
905793 tn?1254273122 First of all, not good if they aren't drinking. Any signs of dehydration (pale gums? pinch the skin and see if stays up or not). Hard to tell if there is a problem. Have you checked his mouth real good to make sure nothing is stuck in there? Odd he would eat okay but is ot drinking. See if he will drink some low sodium chicken broth? That may get him to drink then see how he does. If he is on pred, that should make him thirsty, actually.
