Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar n tn After two weeks I went to the doctors and they told me I had bacterial pink eye and gave me eye drops (3 drops a day for 7 days). It's been over a week since the eye drops and still my eyes are very wet (but don't really drip) and water seems to just build up for some reason. Sometimes theres a lot of liquid in my eye to the point that things look blurry. I went back to the doctor today and now he has me trying allergy eye drops. What do you guys think?
Avatar n tn Hi Kiki, My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions. Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.

Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn Hi Stef, Probably the hematoma came from your cat excessively shaking it's head or scratching at his ear because of an ear infection.. So both must be treated. I am surprised that the vet did not drain the hematoma by surgery and suturing. This would be the norm.
Avatar f tn For ladies with Allergies what are you taking or doing. Claritin just doesn't seem to be doing the job. I am a stuffy, sneezey mess with watery eyes half the time. And I need to function so Benadryl is not an option unless I am able to sleep all day.
3107761 tn?1341539856 Wow. Thank you for the tips & links! The blood rarely shows up in her stool or diarrhea and the bleeding comes from her rectum. She has been off Purina for about 2 years. She doesn't eat or drink from plastic bowls. After reading some of your links, I may start with a hypo-allergenic food. While i thought http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/ was one of the best dry cat foods, it wasn't hypo-allergenic. I also may try to increase her water intake by some tuna water.
Avatar f tn My cat Jimi has severe allergies. We think the dust is causing it as we live on the desert side of Maui, Hawaii. The vet doesn't know actually what is causing it either . The redness got so bad in his right eye he caused an ulcer which is taking forever to heal and now both eyes are red, bulging and sore. I bathe him once a week, wipe his face clean everyday , have his head in a cone (so he can't rub his eyes) and with the vets recommendation have tried every drop/ointment known to man !
Avatar m tn for the past 2 years, i have had severe eye allergies. i'm not talking about a little redness and itching...i'm talking about eyes that look like raw meat and pain like someone threw acid in my face. they sting, burn, itch, water to the point were i can't work or concentrate. i've been to 3 allergist and an immunologist, i've been taking a cocktail of 7 antihistamines plus drops and nothing helps. now, here's the weird part.
Avatar n tn It is more than likely from allergies. Wash your eyes with baby soap daily especially if you come in from outside. Wash all the pollen off of your body and out of your hair, then wash your eyes with the baby soap.
Avatar f tn We have tried dieting with certain food groups to check for food allergies and his condition did not change, he is an outdoor cat and we have also tried keeping him in for a month + and yet again no change to his condition. We've tried bathing him with hypoallergenic shampoos and yet again, no result. Please if you have any idea of how or what we could use to potentially help his condition let me know. It would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have a cat that is almost 18 years old. He has always been a scar that hides from everyone. He has been hanging out with us and around the dogs and is really stuffy. He has a lot of snot in his nose, it is hard for him to breathe, he gags and coughs and has runny eyes. My husband just thinks he is old with allergies but I'm concerned. I dissolve his food in water and crush it up and he drinks and eats fine. Not sure what to do? Can I give him something for the allergies?
1116122 tn?1268496794 I have no intention of getting rid of my cat, however, since this is the best my allergies have been around pets in years. Other than Zyrtec, are there allergy shots covered by insurance that I could take, or other allergy medications that are prescription? My insurance company stopped covering Allegra, which was perfect (bummer). Thanks for your help in advance.
Avatar f tn Get a shot glass fill it half ways with water and some salt and flush your eye with it. Other then that maybe eye drops?
Avatar f tn ear wipes gently clean ears warm water with soft tissue squeese water from tissue so it does not run in your pets ear. or q tip do not penetrate ear again gently hold ear and take tip and softly remove dirt and residue from ear. If cat is scatching at ears take to vet to treat for ear mites.
Avatar f tn I M IN My 2nd Trimester AND I Have Ichy eyes. I just try to drink lots of water and wash my face with cold water.
Avatar m tn t know why that is impacting his life, but it sounds like the cat has anxiety. Usually if the cat has food allergies, they will scratch around their neck, top of their head and possibly around their face. It could also be allergies from something else, such as fleas, flea bites or dust. This is harder to determine and may have to be discovered by a vet. If they feel that is the reason, they can give the cat a shot that will temporarily relieve the itching for about a month.
Avatar m tn Last night I had some allergy issues. This is not unusual because I have a cat that I'm allergic to. Anyway, my eyes got all itchy and watery like they do. I put a cold pack on it for a few minutes then took my allergy medicine and went to bed like I've done many times. When I woke up this morning the eye is still more red than normal, it's watery, and it still feels puffy. I know it's not night allergy since the cat doesn't come in the bedroom.
Avatar f tn Me too my eyes are sore and itchy mine is allergies there's a lot of heat and bad air out there at least here in CA there is ..Pollen ,grass all causes eyes to hurt,I use drops and bathe eyes in cold water .
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
4259918 tn?1351848942 BEEN TO MY DOCTOR HE SENT ME TO ENT. DOCTOR PRESCRIBE ME SOME ANTIBIOTIC/STEROIDS EAR DROPS. THAT WASNT WORKING SO I WENT TO THE ER. THEY ALSO GAVE ME EAR DROPS AND ANTIBIOTICS TO TAKE ORALLY. WAITED BOUT 5 DAYS WENT BACK TO ER. DR. THERE LOOK IN MY EAR AND SAYS THAT IT LOOK GRAY IN IT. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT DOES THAT MEAN. THAT ALSO TOOK A CAT SCAN AND EVERYTHING LOOK NORMAL. BUT IM STILL HAVING EAR PAIN IN MY LEFT EAR. THE HOSPITAL GAVE ME PAIN MEDS.
Avatar f tn It helps cut mucus as well. Keep up with the cough drops. Get plenty of sleep and water! Drink Gatorade if you have to. The more rest you let yourself have, the sooner your body can heal. Also, are you sure it's a cold and not allergies? It's that time of the year and colds usually don't last a month! Either way, good luck!
Avatar n tn m trying to say it my hay fever ad allergies to pollen etc make my eyes water and i make my eyes worse so please everyone leave your eyes alone. Find something to keep your hands busy. Ignore the pain for a little while. You can do it. And I promise your eyes will be fine after.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
