Avatar f tn As a matter of fact, there is a pet allergy specialist in Orange County. I used to bring my cat there (she had similar problems). I think they were in Tustin, but to be honest with you, it's been a long time and I can't remember the name of the place.... OK, I just googled it, and I'm 99% sure this is the place: Animal Dermatology Clinic 2965 Edinger Ave Tustin, CA 92780 (949) 936-0066 In the meantime, maybe you could try an oatmeal bath to help relieve some of the itching.
Avatar n tn Hi. About 5 years ago I developed skin and sinus allergies to everything. Every fragrance free shampoo. Conditioner. Lotion. Oils I've tried everything. Been patch tested but still having all these allergies. I have what I think is exzema all over my face. Burns. Flaking very dry. What could be going on?
Avatar n tn i have had reactions to alcohol - due to the fining ingredients - i had a couple of sips of wine - and got itchy (blamed friends cat for having flees) a couple of sips later i started feeling really ill and thought i was coming down with somthing and went home and to bed! a few days later i went back to my friends and asked if she still had the wine bottle as i thought i had an allergic reation - only to find it was fined with geletin - i have a land meat allergy!!
Avatar f tn I'm really sceptical of doctors at the moment too. My husband told me last night that my allergist did not do anything but add to my anxiety about eating when he said corn and catfish was added to the LIST of things I'm allergic too. I wasn't put on a strict diet or anything but corn/corn startch/corn syrup is added to EVERYTHING now days. And I was raised on and absolutely LOVE corn. I just wanted to cry! So....we're in the same boat basically.
Avatar m tn There are several thing about chocolate too. You can be allergic to the cocoa, to the corn (corn syrup), to the dairy (milk products), or to other ingredients they put in to process chocolates. Eliminate all and then try adding in different kinds, do a food log and pay attention to ingredients. You may be able to figure out what part of chocolate bothers you simply by trial and error and tracking. GL!
5347058 tn?1381188426 Cats absolutely get the same allergies that we humans get. I changed my cat's diet to a grain free diet, but I still end up having to give her 1/4 of an adult Zyrtec tablet whenever her seasonal or dust allergies are bothering her. She still gets weepy eyes or scratches her ears pretty intensely. Benadryl is too intense for cats, as it is for many of us humans. Zyrtec isn't nearly so intense.
Avatar n tn After reading many articles on diabetes/stone related problems I was shocked at how many are caused from improper diet. Most foods are high in corn. A cat is a carnivore and should not eat veggies, let alone high sugared veggie like corn. Since feeding only meat w/low veggie/starch content he is well within normal range.
3107761 tn?1341539856 Wow. Thank you for the tips & links! The blood rarely shows up in her stool or diarrhea and the bleeding comes from her rectum. She has been off Purina for about 2 years. She doesn't eat or drink from plastic bowls. After reading some of your links, I may start with a hypo-allergenic food. While i thought http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/ was one of the best dry cat foods, it wasn't hypo-allergenic. I also may try to increase her water intake by some tuna water.
Avatar n tn Corn can be anything thing from corn, corn syrup, corn starch, xanthan gum etc. Corn is in so much, so if he is allergic to corn do a lot of research because it's even in cough syrup.
Avatar n tn Hi, Calm down and just let your cat know where the food, water and litter are. I assure you that in your cat's own time he/she will begin to feel less fear and come around. I had to take in my daughter's cat into my house with 2 dogs and a cat. Her cat stayed as far away as possible for months, and when we saw her on the stairs and we reached to try to pet her she swiped at us.
Avatar n tn If you are not allergic to corn you can have corn products, such as corn tacos and rice noodles as pasta, rice cakes, and potato pancakes to names a few and give you variety. An excellent website www.celiac.org is a great resource for information of the disease, gluten-free diet, and food products with gluten.
Avatar m tn He was tested for allergies and was found that he is allergic to grains. I have switched their food to grain free but he is still licking and I found a new spot where he has licked the fur off. It has only been a month since I have switched, should I wait longer to see results of the grain free food? They do eat from a plastic automatic feeder and water dish, should I switch?
1035252 tn?1427227833 does anyone have tips for controlling the odor? I invested in an expensive litter box with a filter on it for the smells (and a top with a swinging door) that my cat LOVES...and I bought the expensive arm and hammer odor control cat litter....and it doesn't smell BAD it just SMELLS. is this just something I'm going to have to get used it?
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
Avatar f tn Pediatrician has been treating with nasal spray (for minor nasal tissue swelling), nebulizer with albuterol, and most recently claritin. She had allergy test which revealed allergies to milk, peanuts, soy, wheat, corn, eggs. but no environmental triggers. Eliminated those things from her diet for two weeks along with taking allergy meds but no relief. Saw ENT doctor but x-rays revealed nothing abnormal so she determined that it must be the milk allergy.
Avatar m tn Look at corn it is in everything and I had the same reaction by handling a shopping cart that someone use the sanitize cloths on. My hands itched and burned. Praise the Lord I did not touch my face. So investigate corn!
Avatar f tn Works wonders for me, defintely have more symptoms when the cats are due to be washed. Vaccuum a lot and groom the cat regularly outside to help keep the hair down in the house. I would double check first that there is a true allergy involved, no use going through everything if you aren't allergic and it's from something else. Also look at the cat litter you are using, some have strong perfume or a lot of silica dust which is known to affect some people.
2083449 tn?1381354708 welcome to our cat community....and welcome to all 6 of your kitties as well. we are all somewhat crazy cat people here and love to share stories and information.....
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn So many dietary allergies are caused by the grains in dry cat food, you need to try something that contains no grain and no wheat gluten. In many instances, food allergies that have baffled vets and owners for years turn out to be caused by the wheat gluten in the food. Maybe try the type of diet that PrettyKitty1 has been feeding her Abby.
1356964 tn?1302087435 I also was thinking that my one cat Spook might have been allergic to corn because he scratched alot so two reasons for switching over to Wheat litter(instead of clay or clumping ) aside from the fact that I didn't like what I was reading about clumping litters and clay based litters. Take it for what it's worth, however I read that Clay litter contains Silica which is a known Carcinogen when inhaled.
Avatar n tn You should really get to a doctor right away. You don't know if there was something added to one of your drinks or if it is alcohol poisoning. Please get it checked out. If it is an allergy benadryl would likely help but best to have it looked at by a doctor.
Avatar f tn I LOVE cats with all my heart but in allergist to them :(((((((((( whenever I'm near them I get hives! My allergies might be getting better but I'm not sure. Also I'm going to be working at a animal shelter soon were I have to be around cats and dogs. So if any1 would know if there something I could do or take besides allergy meds then can u please tell me?
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar f tn My mum is allergic to cats, what can i do to my cat to help her with her allergies??
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if it is uncommon to have only ONE food allergy and no environmental allergies and no family history of food allergies? My daughter reacted to eggs by intense vomiting. Positive skin test. No other reactions ever again, but has a lot of gastro problems. Her allergist said it was odd that she had no other allergies, but didn't know what to test for since she doesn't react to other food....
Avatar f tn Word of advice--save your money. My cat used to hiss at the one I had every time the thing would rake. And, she would slap at the mechanism. They also take up a lot more space than a standard litterbox.
