cat allergies sores

my cat has been licking her fur alot latety and she now has bold and sores on her back, i do buy her flee collars and flee tablets, i dont have much money and iam really worried

This needs a Vet visit and an antibiotic, allergies with cats appear on their skin, like sores and hair loss, not like with us and the symptoms you describe.

Food allergies usually manifest around the face and ears. Flea allergies will appear at the hind end where they seek warmth. Either way sounds like kitty is miserable. Also, most important :: You have a little child to protect and some skin conditions like ringworm, are highly contagious and everyone must stay out of contact with these sores. Best to know for sure and help your kitty and your family at the same time. Please let us know what the vet has to say, K?

My cat has many red tiny sores on inner thighs and belly. She is constantly licking them. She is lethargic. At only 4 years old, she has lost her energy and normal way. She sleeps all day and licks her belly. When applying cream I have noticed that she has lumps which are obviously painful to my touch. She eats regularly and drinks a lot, however she is losing weight. I have tried antibiotics, and parasite killing cream and spray.

The fat lip also is commonly secondarily infected with bacteria, so I would recommend a 2-3 week course of antibiotics if not already done. The three types of allergies are parasite (fleas, mites), food allergy, and pollen/dust allergies. If your cat is already on a good flea control such as Advantage or Revolution, then parasites are less likely.

My first thought when I read your post is that your cat has fleas, especially from the location of the sores. Your cat could be allergic to fleas and is traumatizing his skin in his efforts to catch the fleas. Do you use any flea treatments? It could be due to cat fights so you want to watch for any swelling which is indicative of abscesses. Have you seen your veterinarian yet?

My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays,she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

My cat seems to be losing his hair from his waist down. He is not bald per se, it is just thinning. It appears as if he was shaved especially on his behind, hind legs and belly area. He appears to have lost weight, but it could be that his hair is so much less. He has taken to sleeping under my desk light. I am not sure if he like the warmth or if that is a symptom so I included it. He seems to be eating, etc normallly.

My mini daschund has been licking his paws like crazy. In between his paws are sores that are beginning to look pretty bad. Originally he only had one small irritated spot on his paw and the vet thought it was from his nail irritating it. Now he has about 4 sores and is constantly licking them. I figured that the sores are allergy related, so I gave him some children’s allergy medicine.

my cat has been to the vet and I've been told she has a flea bite and flea dirt allergy. I use Advocate on her which is supposed to last 4 weeks, after 2 weeks she starts to get sores around her neck (she cant wear a collar because of this) she itches and nibbles alot. If left alone at this point the sores on her neck become large raw and need antibiotics, she'll get little sores on her back above her tail, which she bites so her fur gets shortened and turns straw like.

How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.

over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.

My cat has allergies that cause skin breakouts, I've done the steroid route and this works for awhile, now using a change in food and omega 3's and so far he has only had one small breakout that lasted only 2 days and didn't go on to become open and raw sores. My question is, I've read that sometimes benadryl at .25mg per pound can be successful in cats. Is this also avail in topical form rather than using systemically?

Hello. My boyfriends cat is almost a year old. He's half long hair, black and white. Could never mieow from day one which is why no one wanted him out of the litter so we chose to adopt him. He's huffed and coughed since day one, we put this down to hairballs because of the length and amount of fur. We groom him and stroke him a lot to try to prevent this and also give him special treats which help prevent hairballs. Still he huffs and puffs and pukes up enormous hairballs.

When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?

Greetings! My name is Tom and I suffer from severe non- food related allergies. Although they can be controlled, I find that my allergic reaction to dogs is so strong that drugs have little effect. The obvious solution is to take immunotherapy (allergy shots). However, when I contacted my allergist's secretary she said that they do no have one. I would like to rebut her claim, but in order to do so I need proof that this exists.

Hi Kiki, My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions. Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.
